Oba Martins Definitely Out At Old Trafford

Bad news today regarding Oba Martins, as it looks almost certain that he will now miss the opening game at Old Trafford.

Oba Martins – knee injury still troubling him

Oba is still concerned by his knee injury, and it looks like it’s just not right, so there’s no point in playing him, until the medical staff know what exactly is wrong.

The treatment could be another injection, although those seem hardly the right treatment, longer term.

There’s even word that Oba may be allowed to return to his native Nigeria, and spend some more time with his family again, following the tragic death of his mother a few weeks ago.

That would seem a common sense thing to do if Oba needs more recovery time.

But that will leave Newcastle short of firepower up front for Saturday, and it may be that Kevin will elect to play either Duff or Milner in one of the two striker positions.

The alternative of Ameobi and Smith would hardly give us any potency up front, with their current form, and with Duff and Milner both looking great in pre-season, we would expect one of them to get the nod up front.

We hope that Michael Owen – who is ready to play in a behind-the-scenes game tomorrow afternoon to prove his fitness, may still be able to make it and maybe a Milner/Owen partnership up front, wouldn’t be all that bad.

We’ll have to wait and see, but this seemingly makes it even more difficult for us at Old Trafford come Sunday.

Oh well – we can still get a result there.

Comments welcome.

The hits just keep on coming dont they! well lets just hop Owen is passed fit, we should play owen up with duff in behind. Please if anybody at the club reads these blogs please sign another striker! you can see how screwed we’ll be l8r in the season if this happens again. This is the team i can see KK putting out on sun.

Now thats worse case scenario, if colo is in & jonas then i’ll feel better but i can still see him playing Smith tho. Which might not be too bad if he’s up there with owen, he’ll just have to flick it on & lay it off no real goal scoring required there. Thoughts welcome as always lads.

If owen is able to start then that may not be such a bad shout wigaz, would be great to see oba starting as hes always a threat even if he doesnt look it at times. I think duff looked sharp today at the training sesh, i got hopes for him this season like, guthrie also looks a good deal, i think he will just continue to progress

That line up it frightening mate. It shows that if we continue the way we are going then we have made no improvement from last season what so ever. Granted Guthrie is the only player we can say is hundred percent toon player. Jonas has problems with paper work and we aint a clue with Colocinni or Bassong. Does not bode well at all.

However, latest I heard was that ONLY Coloccini will be there at the open day. This is because of Smith’s deal being held up.

Erm Furrygiblets you’re talking crap mate, so far i’ve said that nothing was happening today, is that a problem for you?…

Cheers for calling me a wanker and NOT lying Andy. Guess it must mean i need more education as you put it.

It had to happen eventually, buy Cisse.

Maybe we should have tried to sell Owen.
