Tiago To Newcastle On One Year Loan

There is news coming through that Juventus have arranged a deal with Newcastle United for former Chelsea midfielder Tiago, and he will move to St. James’ Park on a one year loan deal.

27 year old Tiago Cardoso Mendes – to Newcastle for one year loan

Tiago only joined Juventus from Lyon last year, but has not done well at the club, and has hardly lived up to his £10M price tag.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the Portuguese midfielder is now on the verge of signing for Newcastle United, after the Premiership club have finally come to an agreement with Juventus.

Tiago will move to St James Park on a one-year loan deal, with the Tyneside club then having the option to make the move permanent next summer for a fee of around £8M.

Juventus play Artmedia in the Champions League third qualifying round tonight, and Tiago is unlikely to feature in order to avoid him being cup-tied from Europe.

With Newcastle not in any European competition this year, this is probably irrelevant, but the Italian club still want to protect themselves in case the transfer does not go through.

Tiago has previously played for Lyon, Chelsea and Benfica.

Tiago was hardly brilliant while at Chelsea but he is a solid holding midfielder and a big improvement on Butt. All in all i hope this goes trough.

IN: Coloccini, Tiago, Warnock and Derdiyok
    OUT: Smith, Ameobi

    GK: Given, Harper, Krul, Forster

    LB: Warnock, Enrique
    RB: Beye, Geremi
    CB: Coloccini, Faye, Taylor, Bassong

    LW: N’Zogbia, Duff
    RW: Gutierrez, Milner
    CM: Tiago, Guthrie, Butt, Barton

ST: Owen, Oba, Viduka, Derdiyok, Carroll

This is at least two players for every position, and players like Edgar and Lua-Lua are not yet mentioned and will certainly be an active part of the squad.

That team would qualify for Europe, in my opinion.

I think is a done deal. Wikipedia there already stated he’s now newcastle united player. Still not confidence on him as he described as one of the “big flop” last yr…..

Dont believe in wikipedia. Everyone can change things there – even me or you.
I want to see this on official site – with Coloccini. That would be great.

If he is so good..How come he is not getting a game?? Did not set the pitch alight whilst at Chelsea. Just seems to be another Luque or Viana. Just passed around different European clubs picking up massive deals and not acutally doing anything.

But KK knows better than me… so I hope he proves me wrong.

He’s a good player during his time in Chelsea. It would be great to have him this season. Although he’s just in here on loan.

hope something happens today, the clocks ticking fast and i’m becoming increasingly anxious, be a good bit of business though, question is does this discount any other midfielders comming?, truth be known i’d still rather have inler, tiago was a flop last season so will he be suffering from a lack of confidence?

Well, well , well – what a surprise. No new faces at the live training session – not even Colo. Not even Owen (according to the idiot on SSN who couldn’t see him when he was stood about 20 yards in front of him).

Alan Smith was there however, proving once and for all that Big Willie et al are full of sh!te.

Dam good deal!! I do like this player he just hasnt been given a chance, plus it is only on loan so no harm done!
Just get a nice skillful AM and striker (if we sell Smith and Bambi) and were laughing!! Think its good that SSN/papers etc are putting us bottom half of table again, gives us extra incentive to do better!

yesterday the bookies had us at 16/1 to break into the top 4, which was third behind spurs and everton so does that not technocally mean 7th place which i would be happy with

    is tiago creative????

if this is true it is smart business from the club, loan a player with a good history who has been poor as of late so that we are not tied to anything. If he comes and does well then we get him to sign on the dotted line.

Would rather Tiago in the middle to Butt, if he can find some form he is automatic first choice as he can pass a ball
