There is news coming through that Juventus have arranged a deal with Newcastle United for former Chelsea midfielder Tiago, and he will move to St. James’ Park on a one year loan deal.
27 year old Tiago Cardoso Mendes – to Newcastle for one year loan
Tiago only joined Juventus from Lyon last year, but has not done well at the club, and has hardly lived up to his £10M price tag.
According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the Portuguese midfielder is now on the verge of signing for Newcastle United, after the Premiership club have finally come to an agreement with Juventus.
Tiago will move to St James Park on a one-year loan deal, with the Tyneside club then having the option to make the move permanent next summer for a fee of around £8M.
Juventus play Artmedia in the Champions League third qualifying round tonight, and Tiago is unlikely to feature in order to avoid him being cup-tied from Europe.
With Newcastle not in any European competition this year, this is probably irrelevant, but the Italian club still want to protect themselves in case the transfer does not go through.
Tiago has previously played for Lyon, Chelsea and Benfica.

Comment #326The official press officer at the club is Gary Oliver, Mark Hannen assists Gary. Get a life and stop misleading people.
harrier – Everything was in place however for some reason, which I’m not aware of the club have decided against announcing the signings.
Colocinni has not signed the contract therefore could not make an appearance at the open day, he instead spent the whole day at the training ground working on his fitness. As far as I know there are no problems with the deal therefore it should only be a case of when the club want to push it through and announce it.
Derdiyok is in a similar position and has been lined up for the past week. The club are waiting to get Smith off the wage bill however he has so far refused the terms being offered by Everton. Ameobi was given permisson to speak to a Prem league club today and if he signs, the Derdiyok deal will be pushed through. He will play no part in FC Basle’s Champion League Qualifier tonight.
Tiago is far from a done deal and I suspect we may be getting used to attract interest from Spanish clubs, the MAJOR signing who was at the training ground on Sunday is a playmaker of the highest quality who the club hoped to announce on Tuesday, the deal is still on however with the delay being due to the selling club wanting an replacement before they allow him to leave.

Comment #327So no chance of colo not signing? That would be a disaster coz he will be immense for the club, exactly what we need, watched him a bit and has a major presence
