The Newcastle United Blog – Site Update

Since we’ve been live on our new web host Tiger Technologies since Saturday night, not all is well.

There seems to be a long delay is posting comments, although when I post and look at things it seems OK – but many of you I know are having difficulties.

I apologize about this and am trying my level best to get there errors sorted out – so we can resume to normal service. There may also be other problems than the comments.

Also, if you cannot access the site and are still getting errors first try clearing your cache.  The cache will likely still have old stuff in there from before saturday night.

If on Firefox go to Tools along the top and then click on Clear Private Data. That clears your cache – which is the data you have stored in your own PC’s memory.

If you are on Internet Explorer – goto Tools – click on Delete Browsing History and then delete temporary internet files.

Cache is local fast storage that it used to store stuff that your computer accesses frequently – and if the page is there it goes there – the problem is when something changes out on the disk you have to force it to read that because otherwise it just reads the old copy in your memory.

If the above doesn’t work – turn off your PC – completely off – don’t restart – and then turn in it on again.

Please try to be as patient as you can as we get this all sorted out – and remember we have 4 points from two games- not a bad start to the season by the lads.

We just have to get ourselves sorted out now – and all will be well again.

Liam is working the technical problems right now for us.

Until then here’s my NOTW column – at least that site is working.

Ed Harrison.

    Works fine for me.

I’d be going nuts if it didn’t – can’t seem to go a day without logging onto this site these days!

The only problem I’ve got at the moment is the comments taking ages to come up.

Just want to say thanks for the effort you have put into this site Ed
I am sure I speak for many of the fans posting here in saying your blog gives us a forum in which to vent our opinions and views in regard to the club.
Soh, dont pay any attention to detractors, they would`nt be here if they did`nt enjoy it.

Hi Guys, Liam Here(The Technical Dude :P)

Im glad to see everything is starting to work well now. We are still having some problems here and there, but nothing major.

I am currently working on a solution for the slow comments, however most people are now getting comments in real time.

I also would like to thank you guys for being so supportive of the blog over the past few days, especially in the situation the blog was in.

    Regards,
    Liam

Liam is working the site right now – and he may be checking your comments for help to ensure things fixed – so if all is OK let him know – if not and what’s not working let him now – thanks.

This probably won’t even get through – but goal.com is reporting our backup option behind signing Malouda is Antonio Valencia from Wigan for 8m….am I the only one who would prefer this guy? Even a cheeky bid for 4m + Alan Smith….

What do people think of Malouda possible signing. I would be very happy with it myself. He is like Guti in the sense that he is a battling winger, very direct,a nd if anything he is more of a goal threat than Guti. We need another quality midfielder to take some of the pressure off of Guti.

I’m personally not that keen on Malouda, especially not for 10-12 million. He hasn’t done enough to convince me he is a good player, and I don’t feel we need another winger, if we bring in a midfielder it needs to be someone playing through the middle, for me.

Malouda would be a good acquisition as he is quality cover for the strikers and midfielders.
He played at LW, AM/SS and ST at Lyon and was good in all those positions. He is a player that would slot straight into our first team and i would love to see him here

The Norwegian club are set to decide on the offers at a board meeting, with Tottenham and Portsmouth also linked with Skjelbred.” hmmm would be a good signing, certainly fits the category we are supposedly going for… and isnt he kid a toon supportet?
