There have been some good things that Mike Ashley and the new regime have done in the14 months they’ve been in charge at Newcastle United.
Mike Ashley – time to speak to Newcastle fans
But one of them is certainly not communicating with their fans, and this is not the first time we’ve brought this up on our site, as one of Mike Ashley’s biggest weaknesses as a club owner.
The fans don’t even know the guy, and most think he still bought club so he can sell at a profit quickly, although we don’t believe that is the case at all.
However, we have become a little disenchanted with all the news about James Milner yesterday, and the apparent lack of ability of Ashley and the executive team to help Kevin Keegan to bring in new players this summer, which we all know are sorely needed.
That may still change but there’s now only 4 days left in the transfer window, and the squad is woefully short in numbers, although the quality is excellent.
How many times since last April has Kevin said he needs a bigger squad – and the fact he wants to keep Michael Owen and all his other top players – like James Milner for instance.
Nothing much up till now has been done to help the maestro.
The last thing we want is to lose some of the top players we already have, and the news on Milner wasn’t just a shock to Newcastle fans’ systems, it also does not offer up particularly promising news on the Michael Owen contract saga either.
The Newcastle fans are some of the best in the world, and they pay their money every season, and have been served up trash – well at least for the last two seasons.
And as customers of the Newcastle United Football club they have every right to hear from Mike Ashley, the owner, as to exactly what is going on at Newcastle.
Especially when it’s looking like James Milner, one of our most promising young players, who we’ve had since he was 18 years old, may be leaving the club very shortly.
And has anyone thought that Kevin Keegan may lose his fight with Ashley to keep Michael Owen and James Milner – two of the best professionals at the club, with Michael our current captain, and yet he’s won his fight to keep Joey Barton.
That says it all, and it should be very embarrassing to both Mike Ashley and the club he owns.
A statement is needed from Mike Ashley or the club, telling Newcastle fans what’s going on – and that statement is needed today.

Comment #202God, There are some right panicers on here.
A draw at OLD Trafford and two wins in league and cup and some people are still not happy.
The reason we dont know whats going on is because the club is now being run like a proper business. We are also not being held to ransom by allready overpaid, under achievers anymore. Which is a breath of fresh air compared to the FFS regime. Mike Ashley has allready explained in great length his plans for the future.
Dont worry the recruitment team are probably tieing up deals for players now. And when the anounce them you lot will be saying how great Ashley is again just like last time. Keegan said he wants more players and he will get them but we can’t just sign anybody. Remember Ashley dosen’t do losing.

Comment #203Personally I’m in the same sort of mind before I heard James Milners transfer request. I mean he is a good player but he has done nothing at the club compared to Taylor of who he wants his contract equal to. He signed a contract last year and if he wants a new one tell him to earn it. Transfer wise maybe 1 or 2 will come but I don’t think 3 or 4 will. I don’t know who will come in just hoping for a good season and still positive about it. I mean I am worrying we won’t sign anyone but I’m still positive about a better season than last. Alot of people are being very negative then positive just please make your mind up! Owen he needs to sign a new contract he hasn’t done enough to justify his 17million price tag. He has been doing good lately but he should be prepared to take a wage drop as he’ll be earning enough anyway compared to us working class non professional footballers who get about a fraction of what they get in a week a year. We are in for a better season than last!
Keep the faith! C’mon the TOON!!!

Comment #209Why would Mike Ashley come out and repeat what he told us at length about the club only a couple of weeks ago?
It makes me laugh just how much sensational, tripe and rumour people actually believe from the media and print it on here as fact.
Mike Ashley will not ruin this club, the new generation of fickle fans will! For christ sake talking about protest just because a 22 year old wants to more than double his wage 1 year after signing a contract! And people still haven’t learned Wise’s role at the club!! Girls get with it!!!
Ed, I have to agree with K-MAN, just a few days ago your titles were all in the realms of pulling together nicely, are the NOTW paying you this ‘virus-esque panic sensationalism’?
Micky Toon, K-man and the others I’ve forgotten, I agree and am glad some people can see through the Toon bashing propoganda….
1-2 to the Toon on Saturday..

Comment #210If Milner played for another team and NUFC were going to bid 8-10 million for him I can tell you I would be really hacked off and I suspect there are many would feel the same way.
I had not realised he had only recently signed a new contract so why is it suddenly not good enough. I remebre readin g that Tayl;ors problem was that he wanted parity with Milner.
In any working environment there are always some employees getting more than others. It is a fact of life right or wrong. Where would it all end anyway if we give in to Milner. Then Zog says he wants more and on and on it would go.
Much as I do like Milner I say let him go if the fee is so high because he is well overpriced.
My main worry is that KK gets to feel undermined and leaves.
NOW THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING TO GET UPSET ABOUT.

Comment #215Milner can put in as many transfer requests as he like. Fact he has 3 years to run on his current deal,so he’s going no where. If we could steal 10 million off someone for him then lets do it. Seemed like a nice kid but tryin strong arm tactics to force the clubs hand may well back fire on him.

Comment #220Remember when Kev sold Cole and asked the fans to ‘trust me’?
Slight difference with the announcement on Milner and his whole demeanour…..
Maybe he’s learned to act and maybe there’ll be the equivalent of another Shearer type announcement?
Nowt surprises me these days, just trust ’em to get on with things – it’s n0t been too bad so far, has it?

Your logic is shit, but i respect your opinion.
We drew with a weakened Manure team …..this does not mean it wasnt a good result, it was….but weakened!!
We beat Bolton 1-0, it could have been 1-1 had they got a penalty…..remind me who they have just been beat off in the Lague cup…..
And finally, Coventry City??? Good first half performance, shame we couldnt have killed off a mid championship team long before we were hanging on by our fingernails……..
Re think your logic re our current crop of players………
Start with the fact that there are not enough……
And alot are simply not good enough….shola, smith…..

Comment #228Michael that was my point earlier, ED has disgusted many on here today with his new anti Ashley, Newcastle stance. Of course he is now owned by the NOTW and disturbingly will perpetuate his new anti stance for all of the UK to see. No wonder people have a certain view of us at skew to reality. I actually believe many on this blog are not Newcastle fans at all.

Yeah but if youre about to sign one of the hottest footballers in the world – maybe I can think of a few top drawer hotels that would offer just a little more privacy – like Close House Country Hotel , totally private and discrete (owned by local – Graham Wylie – a man with the kind of dosh that could be a co investor in NUFC) 5 star food, 5 star accomodation in a wonderful setting, and only 6 miles from SJP! No better way to sell newcastle to him than there.
Thats all, the Hiltons not bad for a close place to stay in town though! but a night out and visiting SJP to watch the game isnt the same as world star arriving to sign – tyne tees news would be at the hilton before he got there lol 😉
