Setanta Sports is reporting tonight that BSC Young Boys defender Kamil Zayatte’s proposed move to Everton has stalled.
Kamil Zayette - 3 Premier Clubs interested
Kamil’s agent Roger Boli has also said that Newcastle United are keen on securing his services.
The 23 year-old Guinea international apparently impressed David Moyes during a trial at Everton.
However, his current Swiss club BSC Young Boys have already explained to the Merseyside club, there are three other English clubs showing an interest in the 23-year-old, and we know one of them is Newcastle.
It seems like the mad scramble that accompanies the closing of the transfer window has started, and agents are probably more involved than they should be, in working the best last minute deals for their clients.
Zayette has played for RC Lens and moved to BSC Young Boys in Switzerland only last summer. He is 6’3” tall and can play central defender, right back and defensive midfield, so it seems he could be a good capture for the squad, given his obvious versatility.
Zayatte wants to move to England and more developments are certainly expected very soon, and we could even know tomorrow the destination of the player.
Roger Boli told setantasports.com tonight:
“I don’t know what is happening at Everton, actually there might be a slight problem between David Moyes and his president regarding the signing, and I’m also aware of the fact that Newcastle want him as well,”
“I can’t tell with which club he is going to sign for the moment, but I may tomorrow.”
We believe the fee is in the region of £3M, and tonight Sky Sports is going further than Setanta Sports, and reporting that Zayatte is ready to sign for Newcastle United.
If this is indeed true, we would expect some news on this early tomorrow.
Comments welcome.

With Everton’s big lack of signings, they will want the player more.
Plus if we were to sign anybody for defence it would most likely be a left back.

” On August 28th 2008, Zayatte was spotted at Newcastle Airport doing keepy-uppies in front of the world press as he flew in to sign for Newcastle United F.C.. Unfortunatly, Zayatte fell over and broke his left leg forcing the deal to fall through. It’s thought Sunderland AFC are now chasing the crocked defender. They are thought to be ready to offer in the region of £32 for the player.
The deal was revealed to be close to breakdown when Roy Keane discovered that he was neither Irish, nor a former player at Celtic or Manchester United. Keane was quoted as saying “I’m horrified, his agent told me he was Eric Djemba-Djemba, I’ve obviously been conned.”

Don’t believe it…at least not yet.
Check out his Wikipedia entry for a laugh (before they change it back):
Before the 2005/06 season he was drafted into the first team of RC Lens.On the 26th of August, it was reported by numerous newspapers that Kamil was in Merseyside to agree to personal terms with Everton FC, the fee is around the region of 2,500,000 pounds.
On August 28th 2008, Zayatte was spotted at Newcastle Airport doing keepy-uppies in front of the world press as he flew in to sign for Newcastle United F.C.. 25 9 Shearer // Aug 28, 2008 at 21:07
Looking at the situation;
We dont need a WOW signing the wow signing is Collocini. look how he has organised our defence.
We should get 3 new good unknown players. look at Bassong no one knew him but we are all full of praise. If Zayatte is good for Everton he is good for us.
Milner is going no where KK is going to sit him down and let him he will earn what he will fight for and by Jan if Ashley is satisfied ha will sign in Jan.
Owen is going to sign in Sept.
All we have to concetrate about is The arsena game, we have to get aresult and what I see is a win. If Milner doesnt play, we should bring in our bad boy Barton who will also do agood job. play 4-3-3.
With Milner;
…………………….Given
Beye…….Taylor………..Colo……….Enrique
Jonas……….Guthrie………Butt……….Zogs
…………………..Milner……..Owen
Without Milner;
……………………Given
Beye………..Taylor………Colo……..Enrique
…….Barton……….Butt………….Guthrie
Jonas………………..Owen………………Zogs.
When we get the result we need. The next game is Hull after two weeks and with our reserves we can get something at HOME. Then all the injuried players(Viduka,Duff,Martins) will be back for the next game and Barton will be sorted by then.
Then let the season begin……………..

I find it baffling that after years of wasting millions on mercenaries, the majority of you lot are annoyed that we’re not wasting more millions on new mercenaries.
We’ve managed to bring in 4 quality signings that VASTLY improve the first 11, without having to spend a great deal of money. If we’d spent £50 million bringing in EXACTLY the same four players, everyone would be more happy. Crazy ego thing because Sunderland have spent so much.
We have the best first 11 outside the top four, and the best manager. Hardly a crisis

I definately agree on that, The lads we have brought in for a combined £15.8m are class.
On Milner he doesnt want to go, He wants a new deal the same as Tayor did.
NUFC.COM put it perfectly, Why should they be on about half of what Viduka, Duff, Smith, Cacapa, Geremi ETC. are on when they give us more and will continue to improve and be around for 10 years or more if we sell Milner or N’Zogbia and if we had sold Taylor it would have made Ashleys youth policy a farse.

If this is indeed true, we would expect some new

Milner update….
http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=837602
PFA… “I note the comments on the [Newcastle] website, the contents of which disappoint me because James Milner was left with no option, in his opinion, but to formally ask for a transfer following the club’s total refusal to offer him a new contract,” McGuire, who is the deputy chief executive of the Professional Footballers’ Association, told The Guardian.
“The contract which was signed a year ago was agreed more than 11 months before that, when they refused to let his transfer to Aston Villa go through on deadline day [in August 2006]. A new deal was agreed in principle and it took until the following July to be established.
“In that time James has played two seasons in Newcastle’s first team and he was asking for a [salary] figure that reflects that. James feels that his salary does not reflect his value in the market.”
Newcastle appear to be wholly unimpressed by Milner’s attempts to increase his pay-packet, and even more so by his insistence on leaving after his wishes were denied.
But McGuire claimed that the Toon’s total refusal to even discuss a wage rise demonstrates a lack of appreciation for the former Leeds United winger’s efforts over the past two seasons.
Development
“He was simply asking for an improvement that reflects his development,” added McGuire. “Having played over 50 games last season and 160 games in the Premier League, he believed his improvement warranted a new contract.
“It was made clear on two occasions there was not going to be a new contract. Therefore he felt that he was left with no option.”
Milner is expected to join Aston Villa on Monday, as the Midlands club have bid £10million for the man they took on loan during the 2005-06 season.

toonarmy08 not sure if this is a thick question but how u know there is news conference?
98 blerred // Aug 28, 2008 at 22:39
MAPGIE - my point about him being desperate is that he’ll have a point to prove and he’ll be willing to fight and scrap for his place in the team. plus if he’s already got 10 caps for his country at 23-years old he cant be that bad, even though guinea arent the greatest side
how many bad players has moyes signed? we could do a lot worse than this kid in my opinion
warnock - probably wont happen, why would he come here as ‘cover’? plus enrique is probably better than him. if we need cover at left-back it should be someone younger who may be willing to wait for a first-team chance
bullard - could be useful but dont think fulham would sell. think theres better players available
larsson - not a bad player but whereas milner can beat a man and cant cross, larsson is the exact opposite lol, good at set pieces though. if we sell milner we need a quality replacement but i’d rather use the 10m to get a class CM like moutinho or veloso, and play jonas RM
ashton - risky at such a high price coz he spends as much time injured as the rest of our strikers. suppose if we get enough injury prone strikers the law of averages states we should have at least one fit most of the time lol. big fan of a fit ashton though, he’s the nearest thing we could get to shearer
anybody see liege scare the shit out of liverpool?? that big kid fellaini was class, and the captain defour looks top-class for a 21-year old!! could be worth a look…

10 mil for milner- i think everton and villa have been drinking cool aid
take advantage ashley
i for one (considering the last decade) feel the club is slowly but surely heading in the right direction-
the key is if keegan stays- i do worry about his relationship with the chief- but what manager chairman relationship is smooth in the premier? Chelsea, everton, Spurs (im tellin ya) Liverpool??
paa we have too many babies in our ranks just sing and back the king-
above all else other teams should never doubt the fans commitment to the cause- no mater how tough the seaason
101 Spuggy // Aug 28, 2008 at 22:43
Personally I think it is a bit of a cheek for Milner to ask for an improvement in his contract half way through it? HOw many players do that, sure negotiate a better deal for a NEW contract.
I think Milner has ended up with egg on his face now and has let the fans down if the story rings true. He didn’t have to sign the original contract did he? And its a cheek to put a transfer request in but ask for it not to be made public!! How on earth does tha work - surely NUFC hav a right to let other clubs know so that offers can be made?!?
Strange, and very stupid and unnecesary behaviour from an exemplary professional, and talk about bad timing!

if thats the case with jimmy milner.. i’ve gotta say fair play.
He’s obviously hot property, with three or four clubs willing to part with ten million for him.
If we are not prepared to put him on parity with the duff’s, taylors, geremi’s, zog’s money then more fool us. he is a stalwart of the side, and prob our most creative midfielder.
If he goes, good luck to the lad.. i’d much prefer us to sign him up to the 30 grand he wants for the next five years…
If not 10 million should buy Arda??
109 Dondatta13 // Aug 28, 2008 at 22:53
Beatski, I must admit the three players you mentioned (Skjelbred, Larsson, Derdiyok) look amazing at this moment in time with the clock ticking down … I’d take them in a heart beat(ski).
110 supershay // Aug 28, 2008 at 22:54
Spuggy thats interesting m8. Think of it. If Milner asks for and gets an increased wage because he has ‘now played more games and improved,’ does that mean any player who signs a deal today, 4,5, years whatever, can ask for and should get a better deal a year or two later because they’ve made more appearances and ‘improved’…….
this is beginning to sound more like greed on milner’s part than anything.
He’s definitly gone so… we won’t offer a bumper deal because we’d be setting a precedent every player will want to follow. He’s basically said “Pay me more now or I’m off!” Good luck then see ya.
If he is to stay perhaps we could offer him an improved deal if he improves on the 2 assists he made last season. Doesn’t mention that opta stat above neither does it…
111 robertsa // Aug 28, 2008 at 22:55

113 Craigg // Aug 28, 2008 at 22:58
I personally dont see what Larrson would give us as he is too slow and one dimensional, No doubt he crosses a quality ball and takes a mean free kick, So can Beckham but he should be bombed out of the England team!
The way KK wants the lads to play is all about sharp passing, pace and movement hence the interchanging between Jonas, Milner and Zog the other night, Larrson isnt fast or creative enough to play that way he will sit on the wing and cross the ball.
If we were to sell Milner which i hope we dont and still refuse to believe we will, A player like McGeady who can play all across the pitch and has pace to burn would be a more suitable replacement.
114 MAG PIE // Aug 28, 2008 at 22:59
The thing about Milner is, if his performance had dropped off in the last year would the PFA have approached NUFC to suggest a wage drop? Mmm, I wonder.

nicely punned Dondatta, and apparently Skjelbred had an amazing game tonight as well(although i didnt see it.)
the Duffs and smiths etc are all overpaid, but if we give into milner’s demands (1 yr after signing a new contract) it wont be long before Zog and Taylor etc. want more and more money.
Then in a few years, we’ll be on here moaning about how our wage bill is too high and how ashley hasnt done enough to get it down like he said he would.
He had to draw the line and start somewhere, its just a shame it had to be milner
116 Geordie Nick // Aug 28, 2008 at 23:01
james milner is asking for an improved contract based on the clubs vauluation of him, the contract he signed last year, was a contract that had been agreed the year before, when the club were willing to sell him to villa for about 4-5mil, only to change their minds.
now if they were willin to offer him the wage he is on now whilst only valuing him at 4-5mil then now that they vaule him at double that, 10mil, surely they cant argue with the fact that if the club thinks his value has double then he must be worth more in wages

@craigg, Mcgeady is not as good as Milner positional, Ive seen him play alot for us (Ireland) and Ive seen Miner play a fair few too, and Beatski, there’s no way we should give Milner a raise because he ‘demands one or is leaving’ so to speak. He should get a clip round the ear and be told, ‘ok we play you in the reserves then if we’re not paying you enough as a first team regular”
124 tom tomb // Aug 28, 2008 at 23:06
Milners agent was hailed in the press as being the way forward a couple of years ago. There was an interview on BBC 1 with Milner praising the honesty of a pfa agent and him for going that way. Well his agent must be a thick tw-t, as he should have either factored in an increase in his future value. Or negotiated a deal that would last 4 years not 1.
Thought Milner was ok and loyal , but this puts him up there with all the other greedy twa-s.
Plus if we get 10 mill for him, well that would be amazing for a none crossing winger.

I havent Seen much of McGeady i was just saying that he is more of a natural replacement for Milner than Larsson who is a right sided midfielder not a winger.
People put so much on crossing on this website without seeing Milners main impact is his passing and movement, Larsson can cross a ball all day long but he is far too predictable for a side playing the way KK wants us to.

Milner was very good on Tuesday - against Coventry.
He cannot cross a ball. For a winger that’s a problem. After 5 -6 years as a pro, I don’t think he’s suddenly going to learn the art.
We could try to convert him to ACM but if we are offered £10million I think we should sell and re-invest in new young British talent. Or, even better:
Bullard £5M
Warnock £5M
Then sell Smith, Ameobi, Geremi, Pieduka for combined £10M and buy Ashton for £15M
OR EVEN BETTER - Ashley Young - £15M (if Barry worth £18M and England regular Villa couldn’t ask for more).

In response to James who said “I find it baffling that after years of wasting millions on mercenaries, the majority of you lot are annoyed that we’re not wasting more millions on new mercenaries.”
I don’t think any of us want the club to spend millions just for the sake of it and this clearly will not happen. The fans are frustrated because Keegan has said throughout the summer there will be 2/3 new players in to improve the squad. We’ve bought 4 players in but we’ve also let some go and the squad is no bigger. We are also lacking quality in certain posititions. Keegan stated in an interview that we definitely need another defender and a midfielder and possibly a striker. We don’t look close to signing any of these players despite having attempted to do so earlier in the transfer window.

re: mag pie
i agree with you there mag pie, his crossing ability needs improving and is prone to losing the ball, but hopefully that will come or he will adapt into a proven ACM
however i believe for the reasons i already mentioned, i think he deserves the pay rise, it seems he’s only asking for around 40k, which i think is very reasonable for a player with his ability
also i believe we shouldnt have to be a selling club to buy new players, 10 million would be nice but ashley will give the money for players that are worth it
i agree with selling some of the over-paid deadwood thats rotting the dressing room such as smith, ameobi, cacapa and even geremi and duff!!
it would be nice to sign a player who can deliver good set pieces, that would add another valuable dimension to our game….perhaps that AZ left back would have been a good signing, apparently his delivery is very good!!!

Tom Toon - fair enough but how many games will we get out of him this season? How much do the goals cost - more than the £30k bonus you called generous earlier in this chat I’d guess.

Does nobody recognise our youth talent? We’re doing bloody amazing if you ask me.
Enrique, Bassong, Taylor, Edgar all represent their countries at under 21 level, with Taylor and Edgar(?) captaining them.
N’Zogbia, Guthrie, Milner, all look class really, Milner and N’Zogbia being called up to represent at under 21 level, Milner captaining briefly and setting a record of appearances.
Carroll has a 1 goal in 2 games ratio for under 21 level. Zamblera has represented at under 21.
The future looks good if we keep all our youngsters, Milner is a vital part in developing a successful team.

a good friend of mine works for a certain newspaper and mentioned that a few years ago the spurs put forward a motion to the pfa that ALL players in the league would be on a set wage per week, + bset bonus per goal, clean sheet etc - but the majority of their pay would be on performance …… ie points…. so if you won you got full wages, a draw 70% wages loss 50 % wages ….because they thought that would promote attacking football - better for tv….

Bothy only play for the u-19’s
However Kadar is only just 18 and already called up by his full national team.

supershay, I just think MA and NUFC have to save face on the issue. Its important for the club to be seen in the correct light.
By offering incentives, goals and helping Milner reach them would be win win all around. Its not mega money (with regards to Premiership footballers) … I just think it would be fair !
Oh and on the train ticket lol, Im in Gateshead and I drive hahaha but thanks for the vote of confidence
