It seems almost certain now that James Milner will become an Aston Villa player today.
James Milner - 2005-2006 while on loan at Villa
We have been absolutely shocked that we have allowed a very good young player leave the club, but that’s going to happen, so we’ll have to accept it.
What we don’t know is who Newcastle may be bringing in to at least try to keep Keegan pleased, given he’s lost what he called a little gem of a player.
We are very disappointed not that James is leaving, but the way in which it all happened and took Newcastle fans completely by shock, Wednesday morning.
But we have a good squad and as dome of our readers have pointed out we are well off for wingers at the club, and maybe can bring in a defender, midfield player and striker before next Monday night at midnight.
But the coming Milner departure leaves us with one less player, and we have to think Newcastle are lining up a number of new players so we can at least increase the size of the squad.
Newcastle will not get the full amount since we understand Leeds United negotiated a 20% agreement should James be moved on from Newcastle. So that gives Newcastle £7.2M and Leeds £1.8M when the £9M is divided up.
And we have little choice but to get fully behind Kevin Keegan, because if James didn’t want to play for Newcastle anymore, for whatever reason – so be it.
It’s time to move on when he signs today for Aston Villa, which now looks almost certain.
Nothing that a win tomorrow at Arsenal will not put right.
Comments welcome.

i agree with the thoughts of nufc.com.
Having played his proverbials off for two hours on Tuesday night, there’s no doubting Milner’s on-field commitment.
After all, many other players would have conjured up an injury in order to avoid playing and being cup-tied.
Frustrations about his variable shooting and distribution remain, but even when his touch has deserted him, he’s never hidden and his work rate remains undiminished - little wonder then that Keegan likes him so much.
In our eyes Milner’s genuine graft and honesty have
provided an antidote to the feeling that we’ve signed mercenaries, thugs and conmen in recent years.
And having breathed a sigh of relief when the likes of Dyer, Jenas and Kluivert took their baggage and egos elsewhere, we feel the opposite about a man who to us is the very essence of anti-bling.
No Hello Magazine appearances, no pimp my ride or cribs -type nonsense, no car crashes, no night club antics, no grappling in the street. A game of darts appears to be his major vice….
To see a trio of gutless wonders who’ve done sweet FA for this club in the shape of Duff, Barton and Smith remain here on mega money while Milner goes sticks in our throat.
And we’ve not even started on the £100K+ horserace owner and his future.
If a football club is to go forward, then players that leave the team have to be replaced by an improved player in that position - note that we don’t consider Duff to be in that category.
Our loyalty to individual Newcastle players ceased a long time ago - our line remains that anyone can go if they’re not happy.
£10m may be considered good business for Milner - but only if that money is used to improve the team. We remain to be convinced whether that can be achieved in any timescale - let alone the week we have remaining.
On that basis to allow Milner to leave seems illogical and says much about the current state of affairs at SJP, including the manager’s diminished influence this time around. It’s not like it was in the brochure.

Cooper he doesnt, they just offered him a much better contract than what he had here & we apparently werent willing to enter into discussions with him on sorting out a new one.
Im kind of dishearted by this, such a positive start to the season only for this to happen. ESPECIALLY as keegan made is clear HE wanted to keep milner. This clearly shows just how little control he has over it all. Worried about the Owen situation now, Ashley knows to little about football to be thinking he can make decisions on who is and isnt worth keeping at this club. He should trust Keegans word & apparently he doesnt. NOT HAPPY !
7 UTD111 // Aug 29, 2008 at 10:47
This stinks. Wise is the one who pushed for this. Wise is best mates with Leeds chairman Bates (from their Chelski and Leeds days), Bates gets £2m sell-on clause money.
Rotten to the core.
Walk away now Kev - no-one can blame you.
Was this Ashley’s “wow” signing - he didnt mention it would be for Villa!!
8 A.L 9 // Aug 29, 2008 at 10:47
Cooper, he never waqnted to leave he just wanted a pay rise but MA was having none of it so the PFA advised he hand in a transfer request (something they should not have done). Anyway a week later NUFC mysteriously released, on the official website, that he had handed in the request, possibly to turn the fans on him before he left so it just looked like they had no choise but to let him go, which wasn’t the case at all.
9 Chris F // Aug 29, 2008 at 10:47
hope he’s ready to get booed off the field whenever we play him, because that’s all he will get from now.
some good players leave, like Sir Les, and are warmly received whenever they return.
but the way he has conducted himself here is nothing short of dishonourable.
I don’t care if he wanted a new contract, or if he deserved it, the fact remains that he was on very good money, well supported by some of the best fans in the country and playing week in week out at one of the best stadia in the world.
if he thinks he will get any better than that at Villa, it shows that the lad is clueless and motivated purely by money.
so long james, don’t let the door boot you in the arse on your way out, you ungrateful prick.
10 Born Again Geordie // Aug 29, 2008 at 10:47
@ cooper - no one can answer that as they are not as big a club and do not have the fan base or the vision and drive that we have. I can only assume it is a bigger pay cheque and european football. Short sighted on his behalf I think - he could have been part of something very big at SJP. Good luck to him and lets move on.

I REALLY HOPE MA WILL GIVE US THIS £9-10M PLUS EXTRA TO PUT TOWARDS A FEW CLASS SIGNINGS. GOD KNOWS WE NEED THEM!!

Heres and idea. Get rid of Smith and Barton, free up over 100k in wages. Then give Milner an extra 10k and he’ll stay.
16 SuperShearer // Aug 29, 2008 at 10:52
If he goes and KK is not allowed to bring someone in to replace him who is of a similar standard I can see KK walking. He rates Milner as one of his key players and a stubbornness on our wage structure has allowed this to happen. Why this new wage structure wasn’t put in place before BFS signed Smith and barton on huge wage packets is beyond me. However I trust KK and think the recruitment team have not let us down yet so with a bit of luck there is a replacement, or three waiting to make us all feel better. The next three days are one of the most crucial in Newcastle recent history, bring the players in and show intent or risk loosing players like Owen for nothing in Jan.
17 lesh // Aug 29, 2008 at 10:52
Positive comments thus far and best of luck to the lad. Whatever turned his head, dear only knows but, that’s life.
Guess we’ve got to trust that MA sees through the London mafia and realises that he’s got a star in KK and losing him would surely rank among one of his biggest business boo-boos!
Furthermore, if MA wants success, he’s got to realise you can’t get it without investment in a decent squad and retaining one of the best man-managers in the game.
Wakey wakey MA and Kevin, chin up, the fans are with you.

I certainly don’t want him to leave but the £7-8m we could get for him (after the sell-on clause) softens the blow a bit. I definatly think Keegan & Co have a replacement lined up though, otherwise it wouldn’t be a very smart move letting him leave and surely if they didn’t have a replacement they would give him an improved contract so he would stay?

This is a very poor show from the newcastle board - how on earth can we justify keeping Smith, Barton and Duff and paying them high wages and then let Milner go.
I’m aware that the end product from Milner isn’t always up to scratch but he’s better than those three put together!
If Milner has refused a substantial offer of a payrise from the toon then fair enough but from what I’ve heard/ read Wise refused point blank to give him any rise at all.
Not good at all

I think its time we started a petition on our dissapointment of MA and have that sent to one of the papers. There is only 4 days for the pro MA supporters to prove the fustrated doubters. We can apply pressure but we have to stand together. Im sorry but a heavily depleated squad and possibility of losing owen growing day by day is not the best intrests of the club and is against KK. Yes we back KK, and he wants more players and wants owen. The manegment are working against him
26 Saint Suck-My-Big-Fat-F*cking-Sausage-a! // Aug 29, 2008 at 10:58
He can’t beat his man and Young, Bentley et al. all have a MUCH better delivery. The reason people praise him is the same for the woeful Kuyt and Smith; workhorse, good pro, etc.
It should be a PREREQUISITE.
£9 million is a great fee for someone who’ll probably never break into the England squad.
At this stage, I’d rather have Lennon than Milner…neither can cross for toffee but at least Lennon is somewhat exciting. I can’t imagine defenders being terrorised when they see Milner’s name on the teamsheet.
We better have a replacement lined up, or at least a name attacking signing - I worry for KK otherwise.

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in the meeting between KK and FMA.
KK “Mike, the lads talented, only wants £10k more a week and I rekon he’s good for it”
MA “F@ck that Kev, £10k a week??! That’s what I spend down Greggs on them Pastys and Danishes and I’m not cutting back on that for nay player…sell him”
28 KK // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:00
This is a bad business in any way you look at it. You don’t sell one of your top player in your club if you want to improve. You do it when you have enough good players (Man Utd) or you have no hope in your future. (Any club dropped to The Championship) I don’t care how much money they can get from the sale. The damage has done and it’s not something you can get back in dollars. If whoever calling the shot thought this will go well with anyone supporting the club then they thought wrong. I’m not saying selling Milner is the end of the world, but it just shows the club is moving in the completely wrong direction and I can’t bear myself to watch this again. Does anyone in the management board have any common sense left in them? Or all they can see is their bank account adding an extra zero in the end?
29 Taiwantoon // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:00
It’s sad to see James go and don’t think anyone is entitled to attack him after seeing his royalty and professionism to the course.
Apparently KK doesn’t want him to leave and I hope MA makes it up by helping KK to sign a good replacement.
One thing really worries me tho…Why do we sell players so quickly while buying players seems to take ages for us.

Despite the fact that I would have liked to see him stay as our squad is very thin, I am also please that the club did not bow down to a players demands - especially a splayer with 2 years left on his contract!
It’s clear that Milner did not want to leave but was persuaded by his pathetic agents, the PFA to request a transfer in ordet to get a pay rise. I for one am please that the club have called his bluff. This is for the long term benefit of NUFC as gone are the days of us being a soft touch for players.
£9m (or even £12m depending on what you read) is a decent fee for a player who has never really set the world on fire. At 22 he has the chance to get better, but now theres a weight of a few million on his shoulders reminding him of that.
This money (and preferably more) needs to put to some good use over the next 3 days or so.

39 Martin // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:06
I hate how fickle some of you lot are, and I think some of your conspiracy theories are ridiculous!
This summer we’ve added a central midfielder who’s looked quality AND a winger who’s looked quality - Damien Duff appears to have regained his form (before getting injured) and if we get a new left back the Zog will be free to play in midfield again…If and When Owen, Oba and the Duke all get fit together we can have Owen as a CAM player…So where does that leave Milner?
I personally think Milner has moved on for 1st team football! There is no doubting his work rate, but then Guttierez put’s him to shame in that respect, as well as having more pace, skill and crossing abillity - The Zog has more raw talent and therefor also gets ahead in the pecking order…
At this age Milner is ending his U21 playing days and obviously wants to step up to full honours - how can he do taht from the bench?
This isn’t MA’s fault, this isn’t a conspiracy theory about Leeds United…THIS IS SPARTA!

Sack the board? What the board who saved this club from administration and pumped in another £100m to clear the debts.
Mike Ashley has said that he doesn’t want any interest paid back to him on those debts (but he obviously wants the £100m back at some srtage)
Have the Glazers done that at Man Utd? No, they just took out loans against the club and it now owes over £100m in interst alone!
Running the club Sheperds way nearly costs us everything. Ashley is doing things for the long term future.
As long as the money received from this transfer is given back to Keegan to spend ASAP then i’m with Ashley

10-12 million is a good fee but it may as well be 50 million if we aren’t going to spend it on a better replacement - I’m sure any good player is going to want higher wages than Milner was on to join newcastle.
short sighted from the toon
Dennis Wise is in charge of player recruitment and contracts so he’d be the first person I’d sack if we don’t sign any decent players by Monday

46 sirjasontoon // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:08
I totally agree with brown Ale if the money is invested from Milner in this window then it is a good sale if it is not and ends up in Ashleys back pocket then it is a bad sale.
The person I feel sorry for is Keegan and I can really see that if things keep going in a negative direction then he will walk..I have said this since January.
There will be no wow signings not now not next window what we might see are some panic buys and loan deals to make up the numbers.
I don’t know what are recruitment policy is but it seems other clubs can seal a deal in quick time compared to the long drawn out affairs we seem to encounter.
One last thing James is a decent lad..and maybe a new challenge is what is needed..the timing is not great but if Ashley had of wanted to keep him i am certain James would have stayed at Newcastle.

can’t agree more with nufc.com. milner is a good lad, a model professional, and as a player he can only improve. we can replace him with better players out there but what concerns me is how this club is being run at the moment. unless there’s really a couple WOW signing unveiled b4 the window shuts i can see this club will fall apart, in terms of EPL results and management structure. Colo signed for 10m, and Jonas surely comes w/ a big wage so we can hardly say MA really doesnt wanna spend. however this Milner saga simply reveals KK is either teasing the fans or he’s getting really pissed at the moment. if true is he going soon as well?
49 Born Again Geordie // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:08

Does anyone seriously think Keegan will put up with this for long
And we will be left with Dennis Wise

No money being spent but our season ticket prices have gone up
I think th penny will drop about Ashley just after vthe transfer window closes
I join the many who are becoming very worried
53 Owen_10 // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:10
It’s great business for Newcastle, although I do like Milner. We don’t need another winger, Zog is more than capable. We need a CM, goals and creativity from midfieled most importantly, but I would also like a new midfielder to replace Butt, not a DM like him, a midfielder who can tackle and break up play but also pick out a pass and not be wasteful on the ball. INLER would be good. And a left back would be good but it is not a priority, I quite like Enrique. Another forward will complicate things, give the youngsters a chance if need be.
54 steve // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:13
I dont think people moaning is all about Milner he’s just the catalyst - people are more worried about the lack of signings and seemingly lack of direction. we will def not get into top six with the current squad, we are extremely susceptible to injuries and need to bolster the squad with some quality signings
55 aussie mag // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:13
F**k him!!! i hope he does leave now, there are better players then him for the same price.
If Aston Villa are gonna play him on the wing dont be surprised at the lack of assist’s and the amount of crap crosses he produces’!
lastly one question. Has anyone seen him take a free kick that does not just go straight into the wall or actually in the goal?
56 Julio Geordio // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:14
I’m very confused by this situation.
Milner, for all his hard work and graft, isn’t that great a player but on the other hand I’m disappointed to see him go. It’s one of those occasions when you’d prefer to have a player like him on your side rather than playing against you (knowing for a fact he’ll pop in a goal or two in the coming years).
But if he, as the reports say, put in his transfer request in during August, as he was frustrated not getting a newer contract to the one he signed the previous year to show his worth to the club. For me, he’s putting the club against the wall there.
If he had done that a couple of months in to the season after showing his true worth I may understand better. He didn’t really do much last season in my eyes to warrant a new improved contract.
But the worst thing overall about all this is the effect it will have on Keegan and his relationship with the owner. Not getting transfer targets is one thing when you are battling against other clubs offering european football, but to lose a young player who he clearly wants to keep will be a bitter blow.
We all know KK wears his heart on his sleeve and will not be afraid to walk if he feels that he isn’t getting enough support from BFM and his reported billions.
That for me will devastate the club again, just as it ’seemed’ we were starting to get on an even keel.
If Milner does go, I hope Kev will at least be given the money to use immediately and buy us the creative midfielder we desperately need.
57 bowburnmag // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:14
Graham, the only thing which is disappointing is that we’ve ultimately taken a stance (against paying over the odds) on the wrong type of person and player. There are more deserving players who need to be told where they stand and who’s boss. However, I’m still undecided how I feel about it all except to say it’s all getting up my nose a bit.

59 HeronMag // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:14
The pessimists are at it again - Milner leaving is not the end of the world. Yes, I agree that I’m concerned that KK is finding it difficult to keep a hold on a player he rates BUT Jonas is naturally a right winger. This means N’Zogbia is freed up to play in his best position on the left side.
We can reinvest the cash in buying an attacking central midfielder, a position we are extremely weak in.
60 kenny g // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:16
the reason the club made a statement regarding James’ transfer request was more likely than not to notifiy potential suiters of his availablity. This inturn could spark a bidding war enabling us to get the best for a player it seemed we were destined to lose.
Couldn’t give a toss if this upsets the PFA or Milner as they have nothing to do with us any longer so it’s now an ‘us and them’ situation. though losing James isn’t brilliant the club have tried to make the best of a tricky situation, and *should* they have a plan in place for the 7-8mil incoming the more fickle among you will soon be praising the board for a shrewd, nay intelligent, piece of transfer business and press politics…
fingers crossed.

I’ve got at sneaky feeling that we might be signing Dimitar Berbatov. The sale of Milner is a part of that theory, pocketing £10M of transferfunds. Ferguson seems to admit defeat in signing Berbatov and it’s quite obvious that Berbatovs relations with dirty spurs is at a lowpoint. And then of course the fact that Berbatov is a devoted Newcastle United fan. Wasn’t there a story bout a Shearer jersey or somthin?

Thank god Spyro and Graham are talking sense, sick of all the pessimistic fans, KK and MA have bought great players in, and lets face it mostly average players out, yes we need more palyes and I’m sure KK and MA know that, so lets just wait and see.
If it was that bad KK would have left ages ago, MA knows that he has to keep KK happy or he won’t get bums on seats this season.
70 beyethegreat // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:19
andyglostoon i think that is the problem you ment it in a posative way and some people are feeling negative and as you may have read from my earlier posts i am quite optomistic but you cant reward the clubs ambition for selling milner
71 Jimbo-W // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:20
to be fair to him he’s only asking for parity with taylor supposedly, which he more than deserves, especially when we are paying 60 grand a week to Smith (striker who has scored one goal in 40 odd games) 60 grand a week to duff (Played about 30 games in 2 season, sorry I take that back been in the team for about 30 games, played about 1), 60 grand a week to Barton (Hummmm, instead of pre season, he spent the summer in Jail, and now he cant play till, well god knows when because of supposed fa charges and other prospective court cases), 110 grand a week to owen (this is one I don’t particularly begrudge, because he is the best player at Newcastle, he attracts other players to the club and he has a very good goals to game ratio, but it’s the games bit that worries you, when hes played about 40 games in 3 seasons) and I can go on with players from the past that have been at the club during milners time. Why should he play 80 games in 2 years, give 110% in every game, be an ultimate professional and yet still see a load of over paid, under performing ageing has beens be paid more than him, and not to mention other players at the same stage of development has him be paid more, just because he is a Geordie and his dad threw his dummy out of the pram!
There rant over, now lets sign a few decent lads in the same mould to what we have got in so far this window, give Charlie his natural left wing position back, and go and beat arsenal.
72 Ian // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:20
Wish him well he was a good player for us.
Hope we have someone better lined up.
What do you reckon, will the next bit if business we do be a sale or buy someone??
73 51times // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:21
Owen_10 - If Milner goes, we’d have N’zogbia and the injured Duff for the left and Jonas for the right. I suppose Lua-Lua could be backup but it’s not ideal.
Man, I hope we can actually get some signings done. Not in an optimistic mood.
74 tez131 // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:22
To be honest if we can get over £10mil for Milner I think it is good business and would love to see an Att Mid and Guthrie can then play the Nick Butt role for us.
N’Zogbia and Duff to fight for the Left Wing
And then Jonas on the Right Wing with Lua Lua as cover (he looks like he can take on a player).
75 beyethegreat // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:22
in all honesty faroe as unlikely as it sounds i think that may happen i dont know why when he is more thanm likely still going to sign for man u him or eto lol
76 steve // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:23
Milner was good but nowt special, however we need to replace him with an AM who can play alongside Guthrie - Butt is getting on a bit and I def wouldn’t want to have to rely on him playing 90 mins every game of the season
Anyway - I reckon we have a good chance of winning at the Arse tomorrow - couldn’t be a better time to play em 2-0 to the toon
come on
77 Graham // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:23
Bowburnmag - I agree that there are more deserving players to make a stand with. But unfortunately, none have come forward and gave NUFC the chance.
If Bartons could have been changed it would have been. There must be legal issues in his respect.
Anyway, lets not dwell on this and just hope Keegan is given the money to pump back into the squad.
Ashleys not daft, they must having something lined up to spend the cash on - hopefully a playmaker of some descriptionas we really have the wings covered with Zog, Duff & Jonas.

82 Sav // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:26
If we’re flogging a little model pro like Milner for the sake of an extra 10k per week, where does that leave the negotiations to keep Owen on his 120k?
I bet KK wishes he’d let Smith go to Neverton and saved his 60k wage to keep Milner. Its the manager I’m cheifly worried about now, though. He is our best asset, Owen, Gutierrez etc. included. If Keegan feels he’s fronting for ‘Cost-Cutter’ he’ll be gone and we’ll look very foolish (again).
83 ANDYGLOSTOON // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:27
thanks beyethegreat ,people are to quick to jump on others backs at times.though with us bringing in some great players i am pessimistic(only due to time scale)about new players coming in ,say we have an injury crisis like 2 yrs ago ,were in trouble then!
84 Toon Steve // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:27
A fee of £10m or more and we should be laughing all the way to the bank. The football world has gone mad. For that sort of money you should at least be able to cross a ball.
85 Bosck // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:29
Guys ,KK has only bigged Milner up since he handed in a transfer request there were very few comments before that. This is probably for a combination of reasons:
1) to try to persuade milner to stay and earn a new contract.
2) the most likely, to boost the sale price
For those who say that KK will have had no say in this remember this quote form Mike Ashley regarding transfers:
“If the deal is right – and that means it’s the right player who Kevin wants – then we will do that deal.
“Kevin himself is very particular on who he wants. To use his words, they have to have the right heart for Newcastle United. That is massively important for him – if they don’t, then he is not interested.”
I am pretty sure this rule will also apply as far as wages go. Keegan has probably been annoyed with the way milner has acted, will know how much he feels milner deserves and will rightly not budge from this.
also what ashley allegedly told investors at a meeting:
“There is no wage limit, if they think someone is worth 120k a week they would get it, but at the same time they won’t be held to ransom and offer more than that.”
For those who claim Mike Ashley is unwilling to spend remember we have almost certainly bid the following since keegan has been back:
£8m for Woodgate
£15.5m - 16.5m for Modric
£7m for Aimar
£9m for collocini (signed)
£2.5m for bassong (signed)
£2.5m for Guthrie (signed)
£3m - 4m for Warnock
£4.7m for larsson
thats £52.2m - 54.2m since january.
Thats a lot of money bid if you ask me. The point is just cos your willing to buy a player for a value doesnt mean A) his club will accept it, or B) he will join even if his club accept the bid

90 ToonEskimo // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:34
Bosck,
Wasn’t one of the reasons that Keegan didn’t extend his contract with City is that he was disillusioned with a lot of their players attitudes?
Nice post by the way.
91 Phil // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:35
I can’t see why he wouldn’t get a good reception when he comes back to newcastle. With the exception of Given, I can’t think of any players that worked harder or shown more commitment to the club in the last two seasons.
We aren’t going to get any players in now that are his age, ability and know the english game. Keegan didn’t want him to leave. It just makes us look stupid again. And other players will look and see that we aren’t paying the best wages and go elsewhere.
I try not to be negative but I can’t see owen or keegan being around this time next year and then god help us.
92 sirjasontoon // Aug 29, 2008 at 11:35

Milners Sale will only be a problem if there are no further signings this transfer window, and if that happens,Milner-Gate will soon be forgotton.Regarding Milner I think he is an average player who as always given his all to NUFC,which is more than a lot of other players have done in recent years, and all this talk of booing him and giving him a bad time when he returns to SJP is childish at best.Fans should show a bit of maturity and dignity and concentrate on getting behind the team

Selling Milner is only a good deal if we have a replacement set to sign. Otherwise we have extremely poor strength in depth (once again). Milner might not always deliver a final product but did offer more to the team than some will admit. As for Gutierrez, he had very few goals and assists to his name at Mallorca. Should we sell him too?? I am hoping the club will pleasantly surprise us over the next day or so, otherwise it could be a long hard season if we pick up any injuries.

So ! in order to be a true toon fan, one has to be an optomist and put ones trust in MA.
Do you realize how ridiculess that sounds.
When teams like Spurs, Everton, Man.City and even the club down the road, are spending big bucks strengthening their sides, we have become a selling team.
Only buying in the bargain basement.
Not only are we a selling team, but our managers
wishes are vetoed by D. Wise apparently.
What I would like to know is who is actually running this club, KK, Wise, MA, or a committee, because it aint working.
All we have been fed is a line of bu*****t from day one, wow signings, where the f**k are they?
Look its going to be another season of struggle, dont let the decent start fool you.
The club is too thin on the ground and we allready have a bunch on the injury list.
It becomes apparent when teams like Everton are chasing players like Moutinho and Villa are
making us offers we cant refuse, what the ambitions of the present owner is.
Yeah, be optomistic and put your trust in MA.

I personally wouldnt mind if we signed Heskey on a 2 year contract. He compliments Owen and He would be a big, strong target up front for us.

154 SwedEric // Aug 29, 2008 at 12:19
People talk about MA and the bord are shit and so on. 3 weeks ago people said they would be happy if we received 9M pound for him!
He then leaves a transferrequest… And we receive that kind of money… Not much they can do. KK may want him to stay, MA also… But if the player doesn´t want to stay, theres not much to do.
And then you also show you incompitance by atacking MA for not giving him a new contract. KK may have said he isn´t worth a new contract, and everyone ells agrees with that, exept milner…
If we don´t buy new players, it´s not because MA doesn´t want to.. It´s because Wise, KK and all the nice lads doesn´t find a player they think is worth the money or is good enough, for wanna come here…
Just get that, MA maybe say no to some stuff… But not everything bad or sad thing that happens to the club is MA fault and KK sits there and cries.. If KK realy wanted Milner to have a new contract after milners wishes, he probly would have got one. But KK isn´t bind as most people here, he also knows money isn´t growning on trees and everything will be good, as long as you spend money…

161 35yrsofhurt // Aug 29, 2008 at 12:21
Spyro - I can’t see this regime going after Heskey, he’s turned 30 and is on a hefty wage at Wigan.
I like the look of Derdiyok.

im happy for him, he gets his move and we get good money for him, good for both parties.
170 Bill F // Aug 29, 2008 at 12:26
Milner leaving is the bad news, the worse news is that we are losing Colloccini and Jonas for about 2 weeks as they are off to play in World cup qualifiers. We really are getting down to the junior squad.
We are still waiting Nero.
171 toonfanjonny // Aug 29, 2008 at 12:26
apparently its 12M good deal i reckon
172 eggy // Aug 29, 2008 at 12:26
Anyone know what time the press conf. will be today?
173 Matt Lacey // Aug 29, 2008 at 12:27
I’ll be honest, I think Newcastle have done the right thing. It sounded like Milner and the PFA used the transfer request as a bargaining tool to squeeze Newcastle into giving him a better deal - and since we’re really short on players at the moment anyway it would be more likely that we’d try to hang onto him.
I think Newcastle have just called their bluff an
