Arsenal vs Newcastle – Taylor Returns for Bassong

Captain Michael Owen, as expected, makes his first start of the season today, and he will be joined in attack by Shola Ameobi. for what is also his first start of the campaign.

This is a chance for Shola to show he’s not as mediocre as he looked in pre-season – time for Ameobi to produce for Kevin and Newcastle.

Joey Barton, again as expected, is named among the substitutes for the first time this season, and again teenage strikers Ryan Donaldson and Nile Ranger are on the bench.

Steven Taylor does return to the back four, in place of the impressive Seb Bassong, and Habib Beye, Fabricio Coloccini and Jose Enrique complete the impressive looking back four.

Nicky Butt, Danny Guthrie, Charles N’Zogbia and Jonas Gutierrez form a midfield quartet, again as expected.

The team almost picked itself because of the number of injuries in the squad to Viduka, Martins, Smith and Carroll.

As usual we’ll have a report at half time and one at full time.

Howay the Lads!

Hope there are no injuries out wide, as we would be goosed!!

Although, I suppose we could go to 4-3-3 by putting one of the young strikers on 😀

I hope Barton gets a 10-20 minute run out, as well as Ranger!

mmm Little Willie said Beye was injured? lol and Strolla in attack, go on and score a few, that’ll give you more opportunities elsewhere.

If we don’t have anymore injuries we might just scrape a result.

    Go on the Toon

im still concerned about enrique, great going foward but his back tracking leaves alot to be desired, no Jonas on the left to get back and help steal it.

    Strong team for arsenal 🙁

Whats the crack with smith like, he must be on his way out. I dont care how much confidence keegan has in him, 60 k a week to not even make the bench is insane.

Clichy and Nasri vs Jonas and Beye could be the key for us today…..if they can break on that side we could create a lot of chances…

also Eboue and Denilson are the weak spots in their midfield but Van Persie and Ade up front are dangerous…..

if we can bully them in midfield and break on the right we could get something out of this…..dare i say we could even nick it with Mickey on the pitch…

Ameobi is starting, lets just give up now eh? Id rather playing a youngster who might be half decent then play that big, lanky f@cking idiot who just pulls shirts off people and leans on them during set pieces, who is counting the fouls he gives away today???

Jimi – how old are you? Im 21 and have been around to see him since his first game, Never has he looked like he could be decent, Ipswich Town and Norwich are the only clubs showing firm interest in the idiot boy, now, would you have Moritz Volz in you squad or Shefki Kuqi aswell??? Maybe you’d like Jim Magilton as manager, or have Norwich’s centre half pairing instead of Taylor and Colo??? IDIOT!
