Kamil Zayatte has been training at the club, and can play in three or four positions in defense, and Kevin’s comments on the 23 year-old Guinea international recently suggest he will be one through the door before Monday night at midnight.
Kamil Zayatte – seems highly likely to sign for Newcastle
Zayatte has trained with Everton earlier in the week, and reports suggest he impressed manager David Moyes.
But Everton have already made a £4M offer for the player, and that was turned down, so if Kevin likes what he saw when Kamil has been training at the club, and we think he did, we will need to bid above that £4M figure, to capture him.
Kevin told the Newcastle United official web site yesterday:
“We had him in training this morning and he certainly looks like someone who could improve us,”
“He plays three or four positions and I like those sorts of players so we’ll see where we go.”
His agent Willie Mackay (how many players does he represent?) told the Evening Chronicle on Friday:
“He is at Newcastle today and, considering he can play at right-back, central defender and as a holding midfielder, he could be a very valuable signing for them.”
“He played for Guinea against the Ivory Coast a couple of weeks ago and this has alerted a lot of clubs.”
Zayatte has played for RC Lens and moved to BSC Young Boys in Switzerland only last summer. He is 6’3” tall and can play central defender, right back and defensive midfield, so it seems he could be a good capture for the squad, given his versatility, which we know Kevin has been impressed with.
Zayatte wants to move to England and more developments are expected very soon, and we expect he will be the next one announced to have joined the Tyneside club.
And being versatile he can help to plug for the obvious shortage of players in the squad we will have this season.
Fulham Football club are also said to be interested in the player, but surely Newcastle are favorites to sign the youngster, and if he’s anything like the other four we have brought in, he’ll be another very good addition to the squad.
There’s just 36 hours left now in the summer transfer window.
