Spanish Reports Newcastle Signing Star Striker Xisco

There is news coming out of the Deportivos Web Site, that Newcastle United are close to signing the Spanish Club’s 22 year 6’2” star striker Xisco .

Xisco – 22 year old 6’2″ star Spanish striker

The Deportivo fans are less than happy about this development, to say the least, so this could be a coup for the Tyneside club. The fee is being quoted at around £4.8M by Setanta Sports.

And we should point out right now, that nothing is ever official until announced on the Newcastle United Web Site – we just hope this news is true. 😀

Only last week, Xisco was said to be in advanced talks with Midlands club Aston Villa.

Xisco has already played for Deportivo 44 times with 12 goals, and was on loan the season before last to UD Vecindario, who play in the Spanish second division, where he played 27 times and scored 13 goals.

Deportivo cooch Miguel Angel Lotina said:

“I have no confirmation that the deal is done but the offer exits,”

Lotina has also confirmed it is likely the transfer will take place with the Spanish player expected on Tyneside for talks and a medical today.

Xisco made his La Liga debut on April 26, 2005, and last season emerged as a top-class striker, scoring five goals for Deportivo in two consecutive matches.

Xisco – note a certain Coloccini in the background

At the age of twenty-two he already has three seasons with the first team and 12 La Liga goals, which makes of him one of the most promising Spanish strikers around.

He has played for the Spanish U-21 team and is a team mate, on that squad, with our current Newcastle left back Jose Enrique. And of course until recently he was also a team mate of Fabricio Coloccini, who joined Newcastle United a couple of weeks ago from Deportivo,

This contact has obviously been made by Tony Jimenez, who was at Real Madrid as their scout, before joining Newcastle United’s Recruitment Team, headed by Dennis Wise, last January.

This looks like an exciting signing for Newcastle – if we can pull it off.

We sure hope it’s true. 😀

Well, I don’t know if I’d call it a WOW signing, but he just might be damn useful. In talks with Aston Villa earlier this year, so I wonder if our decision to sell Milner had anything to do with us getting this lad. Speculation, but who knows??

Um, Ed, it was Jeff Vetere who worked as a scout for Real, not Jiminez.

We’re signing a hell of a lot of Spanish-based players like.

That makes it four so far this window if we get Gonzalez and Xisco.

We’re finally seeing the benefits of Jiminez and his contacts but of course they’re mostly a bit of an unknown quantity so let’s hope they’re all as good as Gutierrez and Collocini.

Looks like a good buy and would can’t be worse than Smithy or Shola can he.
Does anyone know if he’s a targetman kind of striker like the one Viduka is supposed to be when fully fit?
At least he’s taller than Owen and Oba put together 🙂

Here is some good info i found on him:

Tony Jimenez is his brother and agent. I dont know if it is OUR Tony Jimenez but surely its a possibility.

Xisco didn’t play a single match from start to finish in the 2007/2008 season and he ended up at 1627 minutes (the equivalent of 18 full matches). Only Guïza, David Villa, Bojan and Raúl González had a better efficiency with goals related to minutes. The difference is, the strikers mentioned all scored a couple of times from a penalty, Xisco didn’t score a single goal from a penalty.

The fee is supposed to be around 5.5million, and could raise up to 8million based on performance and appearance i think.

i reckon, we made two good buys last january when we hired jimeniz and vetere and even wise, they obviously no the spanish market well, and the players so far have been great and this xisco fellow looks good to!! while wise been scouting for yong talent for and has picked up a few handy youngsters so far i.e kadar etc!!

i must admit, i have full faith in our new transfer policy( as in the players we are getting)!! however as for leaving it to the last day to get them…..not so good

i no were trying to bulk the squad up, id still get rid of ameobi and smith!! id rather play the youngsters instead of them….get em off the wage bill

They are linked with the Wigan midfielder Olivier Kapo, though a proposed transfer ran into trouble on Saturday night

I hate leaving it til the last minute as well but I suppose the benefit of that is that you can potentially avoid situations like the Modric one.

Players, agents and clubs have got to make their minds up pretty sharpish at this late stage. I’d love these two and another 2-3 tomorrow.

i wouldnt mind swooping ameobi & smith for xisco

    duff for arda

    inler for geremi

that would be the high earning deadwoods gone and then a few players to bulk up the squad, were looking very thin in many positions

a quality AM would be brillent, but maybe this nacho fellow alright….he sounds abit tasty anyway

-transfer market time is very short time also now

Tall, strong, fast, young, emerging, centre-forward. This ticks all the boxes for an Ashley/Keegan buy. The Deportivo website gives loads of career details but also states the buy clause is EUR12m.

The next 24 hours are going to be a rollercoaster.

    Howay the lads.

xisco is a well oiled machine trust me im a depor fan aswell and he is quality for a 22 year old if we get him.. guys remember depor with transfers they are very very dodgy and are like squeezing blood out of a stone we will be extremely lucky if we can pull this off before the window ends. He is tall powerful fairly pacey but i think a perfect player for the PL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ncUcnaimAU&feature=related
will be absolutly chuffed if we get him

Xisco has played 44 games at top spanish level scoring 12 goals. Rest of his games & goals come from the Deportivo B team or at a rubbish lower leauge team & despite only being 22 i still dont think it that good. I think he will be nothing more then a average medicore player i mean what has he done? We should be aiming higher. uncapped(main squad) 22 year old striker from spain who basically does not have a chance of getting in spain team either.

    Thanks but no thanks

milkatoon, they may be, but since it says the fee is already agreed, and he’s on his way, we can pretty much take this as a done deal.

    SDtoon-

    1) If he was as average as you are making him out to be then why are the deportivo fans so upset about his departure?

    2) It is always going to be difficult when the likes of Torres, Villa, Guiza et al are your competition.

Sounds a prospect, but i’m not real keen for us to do anymore dealings with deportivo???

the way they’ve acted in our last 2 dealings with them stank, and surly with only a day to rap up this deal they wil certainly be able to rip us off???

we’ll we will see i guess.

7 million Euros (reported) is still alot but KK and the team so far have been good especially with Spidey and Guthrie imo so who’s to know.

(I don’t mention Colo as he cost around 10million which is a club record for a defender and he has more expectations tbh)

Nice signing. We’re pretty active at the end. Why do we have to suffer everytime?

Xisco is good, tall, kinda fast, and could be a good partner with martins/owen as he can scores plenty of goals and can assist.

Hope we get a AMC, we need some cretivity.
