Valancia Report Newcastle Loan Deal Completed with Gonzalez

Well it would appear that we have our first signing today as it’s been confirmed that a one year loan deal has been struck for Valencia’s Ignacio “Nacho” Gonzalez.

Ignacio Gonzalez – reports that deal has been completed
While this is not completely official, because it has not yet been announced by the Newcastle club, it has been announced on the Valencia web site, so this is a good sign and we’re almost there.

Valencia Vice-President Fernando Gomez had said yesterday:

“We have many players who can play in midfield and this is an excellent solution for both sides,”So

“We expect the formalities to be completed on Monday morning.”

So it looks like those formalities have indeed been completed this morning, and Ignacio is with us for next season.

We don’t know if a transfer fee has been arranged should Newcastle want to make the deal permanent next summer, but we hope there is such a clause in the deal.

One down, and hopefully many more to go.

Comments very welcome.

He’s meant to be a playmaker isn’t he? But i’ve seen him on Youtube playing at LB. So whats his position?

    Is’nt the transfer window a joke !!

Yes its exciting, but the windows open for weeks and the amount of clubs that try and do all there business in the last few hours is crazy.

Scrap the window or make it open for ONE week!…

this Ignacio “Nacho” Gonzalez guy is a new signing of valencia and been immediately loan to us… so most probably there wont be any future fee involved to make him permanant if he impress

Hope that he has a clause, cos the whole concept of loaning players who have just signed for another club is baffling. Are we Valencia’s feeder team? No. Smacks of desperation to me, but I do hope that I am totally wrong….

So who has the balls to start a song using the old Village People song – Macho Man?

“Nacho, nacho maaaaannnn, Nacho nacho maannn..”

Probably shouldn’t have admitted to knowing that should I?

Bigted – if we were Valencia’s feeder team then we would be selling them players no?
Personally anyone is welcome who can improve the squad at the moment as we have a bare bones team.
Personally, I’d like to see us take Larson like ManU did. He’s available.

Desperate signing. Spurs are signing the likes of Pavlyuchenko and Corluka, whereas we get an unknown Uruguayan.

I have faith in Keegan though, hope he has made a good signing. Just would prefer a more recognised name to come through the door.

    TO CLARIFY (@bigted and others)

i believe (may be wrong) that Valencia signed him and then signed other non EU players who were considered more important. As spanish clubs are only allowed a certain amount of non EU players he was then unable to play for them. either that or they realized he was shit

Think it will be a good signing! I believe in the recrutment team, and that we wouldn´t take on a bad player. And on loan, even without a clause, it´s not really anything to loose…

And the reason they loan him out is because they have to many non EU players, and Valencia wouldn´t buy a bad player. But don´t understand why they buy him when they know they can´t use him…

    Good signing in my oppinion…

Means we still have cash to spend, we get an attacking midfielder to fill in when needed BUT he can’t feel let down if we play with Owen in that role instead (as he’s only a loanee).

I don’t care who Spurs are signing…unless they can play like a team they’re going nowhere! And as for the comment that he is unknown – Jonas Gutierrez was a huge name before wasn’t he…

can someone help me understand this Nacho deal because I simply cant – all we are doing is a favour to Valencia – they have just signed him! we have had all summer to sign a quality attacking midfielder and what do we end up doing??? loaning some other teams player to either make him better or advertise him to potential suitors – i have to be honest, i am a little worried about that

BERBATOV OFF TO MAN CITEH!!! wtf!

i believe this gonzalez could be a nice little play maker for owen and martins if we tie up the xisco deal it will be good as he will be viduka replacement, while if we do complete him we focus on 2 defenders and another midfielder.

ToonDaft – I think we’re just looking at the market realistically…

A top quality play maker is important – but difficult to get hold of with no european footy to offer…I think if this lad is quality and we qualify for europe – we either go all out to sign him next year OR we have another bartering chip when trying to bring in someone else!

It’s very much a case of ‘is your glass half full or half empty’?

A bid in for Owen today, that is 1!

He may be leaving, we should have taken Cisse on loan, tried to peddle Owen cheaply then land someone big, if we failed we would still have two decent reliable strikers in Martins and Cisse.

Sick and tired of these Owen games, £120k per week and he is waiting to see what other offers he gets, if one os good then he will take it and leave us in the lurch.

Some captain he has no loyalty to anyone, if no-one wants him or wont pay enough to run his horses, on Tuesday he will be singing his undying love for our club!

really cant understand us bringing in loan deals ,
is that a sign of panic from the 3 wise men ?

they have had since xmas to sort out our transfer targets for this summer , that fact were looking for loan deals worries me .

if we at least dont bid for berba along with city ill be more than dissapointed , sure he will want a move to manure before us , but im sure he’d want to wear a black and white shirt before he ever pulled on that horrid sky blue strip .

    from marca.com (01/09/08, 11:42)

Valencia Sign the Uruguayan Nacho González, and Loan Him to Newcastle

Valencia closed the deal for the Uruguayan Nacho González for the next 4 seasons, and have loaned him to Newcastle for this campaign. The midfielder arrives from Uruguayan club Danubio, however he spent the last half season on loan to the French club Monaco, where he picked up an injury as soon as he played. The signing of Nacho González, capped 21 times by Uruguay, began last Friday, but it was not finalised until this Monday.

The signing by Valencia was conditional to González being loaned out to a good club level, after Unai Emery made it very clear last Friday that he did not need the player for the first team this season. The Basque coach said that he is a “good player for the club” but that there is no space in the Valencia squad for this campaign.

The arrival of Nacho González, 26, is not exempt from a certain degree of mystery, since the signing has been completed only a few days after negociating with his agent, Paco Casal, who initially arrived in Valencia to seek an exit for another Uruguayan midfielder Fabián Estoyanoff, who is also deemed surplus to requirements by Emery.
