The first team looks strong enough when everyone is fit

Given
Beye, Coloccini, Bassong, Enrique
Jonas, Barton, Nacho
Owen, Xisco, Oba

The problem is the bench and backup though, it lacks quality and impact really.

Harper, Taylor, Butt, Duff, Viduka, N'Zogbia, Guthrie

Then who is left after that?

Cacapa, Edgar, Smith, Ameobi, Geremi

Its not great is it. If we can get a decent run of luck with injuries in key positions, then we might not do too badly. We know, though, that that just won't happen!

But I give Barton one thing, if his career as a pro footballer ends he will be a great boxer.

Check this first punch...

ehssi:

You are so wrong...

Gerrard, Lampard, Ballack, Barry, and Scohles don't stub out cigars in youth players eyes, assault team mates until they look like 'The Elephant man' and kick the living piss out of people outside McDonalds.

Barton is a badboy.

But he's our badboy so I suppose we have to get behind him and give him some support.

You're all whinging twats!

Our 1st team is much stronger than last year and our youngsters are all a year older and more experienced now.

                                       Given

Beye Colo Taylor Enrique

Jonas Guthrie Zog

                                     Nacho

                      Owen Oba

From where i'm standing thats a very good 1st team. Then if players get injured we've got Bassong and Edgar to cover full back and centre half positions. Duff and Geremi to cover the wings along with Lua Lua. Butt, Smith and Barton as CM cover and Xisco, the Duke and Smith, not to mention Andy Carroll all covering Owen and Oba, not too bad if you ask me. Your all jumping on the back of nacho gonzalez! Have any of you tits seen him play? I thought as much! Do a big club like Valencia sign shit? Again i thought not. How many bad players has KK signed during his 2 spells as nufc gaffer? Not many! Xisco has come with a very good reputation and the La Coruna fans were devastated at their loss.
Come on lads get behind your players and make sure this season is better than last.
I'm behind you 100% KK, i have faith in you and your players.
PS I hope Nacho and Xisco both make you eat that verbal diahorrea that is flowing out of so many of your gobs!

Sorry, Ed - but I just can't see Joey making good. He marked his return from clink by grinning that unbearable, 'screw you' grin at the opposition and scything a player down. And that was in 3 minutes.

He just hasn't got it in him to behave like a decent human being when it matters, but he obviously has enough to say the right things to his boss to keep him onside, and to send suspiciously well-worded texts to just the right reporters at just the right moment.

I hope I'm wrong, but I suspect he'll continue to behave like a firebrand yob on and off the field and be in trouble again within weeks. One way or another, I doubt if he'll be an active player for us beyond Christmas.

There's also a moral point here: you don't give people like this endless chances. This guy, like it or not, influences the way yound lads behave in this country. The message we're sending them is: look at Joey: you can repeatedly beat people up, and someone will always put an arm around you and keep believing you when you say "never again".

I just stuck this on 606 and reckon a few of you should read it...

Someone else has already brought this up, but I just fancied expanding on it...

They pointed to how good our ideal starting line up is...I looked at it, and I genuinely believe we have 6 starters who could easily slot into a top 4 starting line up!

---------------Given----------------
Beye----Taylor---Collocini---Enrique
--Guiterriez----Guthrie----N'Zogbia--
---------------Owen----------------
--------Xisco--------Martins--------

People seem to discount the quality we already had in the squad! (Also - I left out Viduka because he'll be injured for most of this season where as the other's could be playing together fairly soon)

Given:- Wanted by Arsenal. Has consistantly been one of the world's top goal keepers since joining us. All in all VERY few injuries and fully commited to the cause!

Beye:- Best player for us last season. Calm head, stays on his feet and still has the pace and attacking flare to give us strength when going forward!

Coloccini:- Was a legend in Spain and has looked solid so far. Despite what clueless southern journo's have written - fans and pundits alike have been very impressed with him!

Gutierrez:- Has had praise heaped upon him by all opposition managers! The ball sticks to his feet when he runs, his crosses have been imense at times (shame there is rarely a target for him) and he works from 0-90 every game!

Owen:- Constantly being linked with moves away and has a 2 in 3 ratio (with only 1 start) despite playing against 2 top 4 teams!

Martins:- His speed and power are frightening, he can be inconsistant at times, but that is something which can be ironed out...you can teach someone to pick their head up, you can't teach anyone to have sprinters fast-twitch muscle fibre!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

On top of this; Guthrie and Zog have both shown a lot of promise so far this season. Young and talented, with the right coaching and opportunities - they'll be players we'll have to fight to keep hold of in the future!

So for all you doom and gloom mongers who are silly enough to claim "we have a relegation team" give your head a little shake and have a think...Injuries may stil hurt us, but this is true of any side (Liverpool - Torres/Man U - Ronaldo) and something Mike Ashley cannot be blamed for!

Martins:- His speed and power are frightening, he can be inconsistant at times, but that is something which can be ironed out…you can teach someone to pick their head up, you can’t teach anyone to have sprinters fast-twitch muscle fibre!

- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -

On top of this; Guthrie and Zog have both shown a lot of promise so far this season. Young and talented, with the right coaching and opportunities – they’ll be players we’ll have to fight to keep hold of in the future!

So for all you doom and gloom mongers who are silly enough to claim “we have a relegation team” give your head a little shake and have a think…Injuries may stil hurt us, but this is true of any side (Liverpool – Torres/Man U – Ronaldo) and something Mike Ashley cannot be blamed for!

I have been an Ashely fan, but starting to change my mind now. I do think he has done us a lot of good, but I still had hoped for more.

I didn't ever expect a big name signing and have been very happy with what we have got up to now, but I did expect some cover for left back. What we have isn't good enough if we have Zog playing there. I can't comment on who we brought in yesterday as I've never seen them play, lets just hope they can do their stuff.

As for Barton being our best midfielder, how can people say that, whats he done for us? Since he came he has caused more problems than enough. As for people who say all the bad things happned when he was playing for Man City, tell that to the poor kid who he beat to a pulp on the 26 Dec 2007. I seem to recall was too injured to play for us, but fir enough to be out on the drink and use his fists.

The best thing would have been getting him out, would have given the club a better image and a better chance of other players wanting to join us. And lets not talk about having an even smaller squad if he had gone, after Friday I don't think there is much chance of him playing for us again until the turn of the year, so if we had got rid of him at least maybe we could have got some cash while we still could have done.

I know I'm being negative, but I'll still be there every game and would never walk away.
