Newcastle Confirm Xisco 5 Year Deal

The official Newcastle United web site confirmed 15 minutes past the midnight deadline this morning, that they have indeed completed the signing of exciting Spanish Under-21 striker Francisco “Xisco” Jimenez Tejada.

22 year-old Xisco – signed 5 year deal with Magpies

We reported the deal had been announced by his club Deportivo earlier today.

The 22-year-old has apparently signed a five-year deal at St. James’ Park and joins from La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna, the club we recently brought the great Fabricio Coloccini from.

The club is saying that Xisco will now wear the No.19 shirt, and the Mallorcan-born, speedy striker made his Deportivo debut at the end of the 2004/2005 season and was loaned out to UC Vecindario in 2006/2007 where he scored 13 times in 27 outings for the Spanish Second Division side.

The official site is also reporting that Xisco will link up with his under-21 colleagues, ahead of their European qualifier in Kazakhstan this coming weekend.

This, we feel, is a great signing for the club, and probably means that injury prone and highly paid Mark Viduka is in his last season at the club.

We wanted a young tall striker in, and this is the boy, although re had expected it to be 20 year-old Swiss striker Eren Derdiyok.

Let us know what you think of this signing.

Good to see. Not a bad transfer window, only player of loss was milner and we got a great deal out of that one. Plenty of quality in too.

    Petey… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JPDKmcrUoc

He scores the 3 depor goals.

This softens the blow, but overall i still can’t see how we are going to create goals. Guthrie is impressive, but i think he should replace Butt, and unless Gonzalez is the find of the century i can see a frustrating season for Toon and our talented strikers.

Also in 3 months in which Keegan identified we needed a left back, we haven’t got anybody. Surely Atouba wasn’t our only left back target.

The only plus is i dont actually live in newcastle and will be awaay from the turmoil that will certainly brew its going to get suicidal lads better call semaritans..

Underwhelmed. I hope they turn out to be great finds, but we needed a bigtime AM. A bigtime ST and a multitalented left sided defender. What we got are basically prospects with upside in midfield and no one else in defense. We could have and should have done better and I think we all know it.

iam happy weve made 2 signings but one of the loaned but squad is way to small so that is not good anough just because mike ashley does not want to spend the money but yet willing to sell players cheaper then we paid for them expert milner which was a good deal for him,but i still think we should have kept him because he was our best player plus we have not replaced him so we are doomed this season not enough in and to many out ashley is no good for this club as keegan as had no support so if he walks you cant bleam him get ashley out soon as and we will go forward but intill then we are doomed.

Our squad isn’t all that small. We may be pushing our luck with injuries but we aren’t as bad as West Ham at the moment. At least we have options for each position, even if they’re not completely ideal.

There’s still time for transfers to be unveiled though as well as the possible additions of any players that were free agents prior to the window closing. Juan Pablo Sorin springs to mind.

Interesting player. I’m looking forward to seeing how the two new lads play.

Disapointing transfer window but we are not looking too bad. With a bit of luck with injuries we will do well in the premiership, then can attract players with bigger reputations.

Keep the faith, we have King Kev!

i think every1 needs to stop being so negative…wevw brought in 2 quality signings today (albeit one loan deal)!!!

gonzalez scored 45 goals in 160 appearances at his old club, then got injured and hasnt figured much since but this guy could be the goalscoring midfielder weve been looking for!!

and this xisco kid…he ticks every box were lookin for…a young, hungry, tall, fast, target man who can score goals!!

so we didnt sign a WOW signing like robinho..big deal..i still cant see them havin a great season and gelling as a team!!…we have invested sensibly and will hav payed off that 27 million debt by the end of the seaon in which case we can consolidate and build this into the great club it is, challenging ther likes of man u, chelsae and (apparently)man bloody City

obviously i appreciate the lack of depth but im sure keegan does too…and im sure we will invest in some shrewd signings come january but i feel we hav enough to get by until then…

in the 4 33 formation from last season

    Given

    Enrique
    Bassong
    Colllocini
    Beye

    Gutierrez/Gonzalez
    Barton /Guthrie
    NZogbia/Duff

    Owen
    Martins
    Xisco

    TOP 6 team lads…relax!!

to be honest he looks really good in the air, and something we lack up front is natural power and height. I can imagine KK thinking of Gutierez when signing this fella, getting on the end of those crosses. Nacho is the play maker we needed. You dont just sign players for the sake of it, but to fill positions that need strengthening. The only thing missing is a back up for Enrique, but we have Charlie, Bassong, Tozer and the other youngster so not too bad. I think we have a decent team now, fingers crossed we dont get injuries.

tell me who in the squad is not injury prone? who will get us goals from freekicks? put in a good cross? place a corner kick on someones head? defend at left back? split a defence with a fantastic pass? i’m at a loss and well and trually despondant, come on the Toon, KK would run over hot coals for us, so others have let us down, small squad of players, big bankrolled scouting staff, well wisey and crew really earned their wages this week, sleep tight in your London Pad why don’t you!

Indeed Ben. I’m amazed at all of the pissing and moaning. We’re a better side than last season. Yes, the likes of Citeh has blown scads of cash, but I don’t really think we’re in a position to do that… like a lot of other clubs.

It’s better to build slowly and create a foundation rather than spend more money than the club can possibly return in profit.

Last time we were told the there would be a major “WOW” signin it was put differently and then Rooney signed for Man United and that was after a 5th place finish, we cant attract the top stars at the moment. Big Deal do everton, Portsmouth and Blackburn have Big Stars NO! I dont want to be like the Suds and Citeh i want KK build a legacy that Sir Bob should of been aloud to build!

I only have 1 complaint and that is that we need urgently to sign a young DM! or tell Butt that he cant go forward and sit wth the 2 centre backs and let the full backs go forward, he has lost his legs he should only be allowed to go 10 yards in front of the half way line!!
The fitess of te team has looed better than last year,we have a good team but we do need to start blooding the youngsters asap and bring them on with their game.
I strongly believe that yes their is a power shift with Man u, chelsea, Man C, Tottenham able to spend big, liverpool still spending but arsenal are the model we are trying to emulate, buying young bringing on the youth’s game and selling at a profit! Getting diamonds for al our work and making a young strong squad capable of challenging for honours. At least we have money for January if we are struggling!!!
    Ins
    Guthrie – £3mill
    Spiderman – £4mill
    Coloccini – 10.4 mill
    Bassong – £2.5 mill
    Gonzalos – Loan
    Xisco – £5mill??
    Outgoings
Milner – £12 mill hahaha still find that funny!
    Emre – £2mill
    Rozenhal – £2.9mill
    Faye – £2.5mill

£25 mill spent and and £19.4 recouped so to only spend £5.6 mill for this lot is Great Business and thats what MA is treating us like. We will build a great football club but it will take time. We need to forget last year as Fat Sam was not ashleys man! Keegan is and everything will come good!

Has no one figured out there never was a WOW signing yet?? Jeez some guy comes up with a clever way to present a completel lie.

There was never a meeting between MA and the box holders. Thats why Keegan never heard of it and why there has been no WOW signing. Everyone jumped on board this rumour but there was never even one confirmation from another source.

Stop blaming Ashley for not getting the WOW signing cause its a 99% chance he never said such a thing.

    Yorki dave

I agree, we have definately improved the squad.

    Lets look at it now.

I think our preference is to play 433. This is a reason why Milner was allowed to be sold, other than a very healthy fee. I have doubled up some players as they can player multiple positions.

    GK Given/Harper

    RB Beye, Geremi, Bassong
CD Colo, Taylor, Cacapa, Bassong, Edgar.
    LB Enrique, Nzogbia, Tozer, Bassong
RM Guti, Geremi, Nacho , Lua Lua
    CDM Butt Guthrie, Barton, Smith??
    LM, Duff, Nzogbia, Nacho
ST, Martins, Owen, Dukes, Xisco, Smith, Shola (hopefully never again after Sat)

With everyone fit, we actually have a pretty full squad, considering i have only added Tozer and Lua from all our young players.

we should be able to be strong with this squad, really we do have cover in every position.

It is time now for everyone to get behind the team, and stop complaining.

    Cmon the Toon!!!!

The Fat Fred day of stupid buys, and massive debt are behind us. He would have turned us into Leeds.

Remember the best run of last season, at the end of the year? What was our lineup?
    ————- Given—————
Beye- Taylor – Faye – Enrique
    Geremi – Butt – Barton
    Owen – Martins
    Viduka

Some people say Owen was in the hole behind Martins and Viduka, which at times he was, but I think Keegan intended them to play off Viduka, and it worked well. Our midfield had ZERO creativity, just the direct pass when the defense fell asleep. Creativity came from the strikers, who supported each other well (especially Viduka, who was fantastic last season).

This season, we have all of those players, except Faye who has been replaced by the younger and vastly superior Colluccini. I believe that with everyone fit, the team will look the same save Guthrie in there for Butt or Geremi. That’s for league matches. Xisco, Zog, Bassong, Duff, Nacho, and when necessary Edgar fill in for those not fit.

On cup matches, Zog is in there, and some of the vets get a rest. Any defender goes down, Bassong is in (I bet Colloccini slides over to right back should Beye go down). Any middy goes down, Butt/Geremi is in off the bench. We have plenty of strikers now, even able to throw MO and Xisco out there at present, and the Duke and especially Martins will be back shortly after the international break.
