Kevin Still Manager – Newcastle Issue Statement

Good news this morning, as it seems cooler heads have prevailed and Kevin Keegan is in talks with Newcastle United and the club, and in their latest statement, the club have reiterated that Keegan is still manager.

Kevin Keegan – still manager of Newcastle United

This statement was posted on the Newcastle United web site this morning:

Newcastle United Football Club can confirm that discussions are ongoing between the Board and Kevin Keegan.

Both the Club and Kevin would like to reiterate that Kevin remains as manager. He has not resigned nor has he been sacked, as has been confirmed in respective statements made by Kevin and Newcastle United Football Club.

We think Kevin and Mike Ashley will be discussing how the club should be run, that is acceptable to both parties. But it’s clear Kevin has to be the number one man.

He is in any case, so if Mike wants to keep him, we think Kevin will have to be in charge of everything to do with players, both buying and selling. They will also have to fix other things that have not been working for Kevin too.

He should have been of all player personnel in any case, because otherwise it just will not work, which the club proved on Monday.

But this has to be taken as a positive sign, because if Kevin can manage the club for the next few years, we are almost guaranteed success, and a team that plays good football.

Already the games at Man United and Coventry this season have been two great games of football entertainment, and we didn’t lose either game, in the process.

We hope there is a rapid conclusion to this, because most fans are just fed up with all of this nonsense.

If Kevin stays – we’d hate to be Hull City a week come Saturday.

Comments welcome.

If the worst happens, let’s for *&Z%^#@%& sake just get a caretaker manager for a while, not rush appoint someone like Poyet and/or Wise.

Anyway, let’s hope it doesn’t come to that!

That statement is 24 hours late, the press have virtually made his and ashleys position untenable. Hope i’m wrong cos KK IS NUFC but we need some serious answers to be fully convinced. Also sack the useless plums that are Wise and Llambias!!! At least jiminez and veteres connections in spain are getting us decent players, the other 2 serve no purpose whatsoever, Wise being there just undermines keegan and Llambias, i dont know what the F**k he does!! Bring back Chris Mort, at least there was some dialogue at the club when he was in charge!

Just to make matters worse there is emerging evidence that Xisco is absolute rubbish. Apparently Depor fans are delighted someone was prepared to pay what we did for him, and highly amused. Also his goalscoring record is diluted by there being a hat trick and a brace in there, without which his average is pretty mediocre.
Specifically I found these three comments about him, spread over a number of months:

“the hapless Xisco …” “Xisco….the second worst striker in the league” “The bloomin’ awful Xisco seems to have as much luck in life as he does in front of goal by being shipped out to Newcastle United”

Manager of what? That is what we need established. KK in charge of all team affairs, who plays, who comes, who goes. Nothing less than that. Can an attempt to find the “club insider” and the “informed source”? There are not that many bogs inside St James Park where he or she can hide.

maggpie not doubting what you have read but says something about depor when he was their top scorer last year and from things i have read says the kid is quick, strong and good in the air

    quote from ex team mate.
As Lafita, his team mate at Deportivo, said of him recently: ‘From an attacking midfield position, I’ll look up and Xisco is always my first option for a pass. His movement off the shoulder of the defender is excellent and he always offers us plenty of options. The way he holds the ball up makes him the reference point for the rest of the team. You have just got to realise how hard he works to understand how important he can be to a team.”

so good and bad reports doing the rounds
have to give the kid a chance and then make our minds up

Maggpie – on the Depor message board which someone posted on here the other day, they were devastated to see him go. Doesn’t really mean much though does it either way?

Don’t write anyone off yet – there is no point. This team needs all the support it can get at the moment.

So many people have said to me how rubbish Coloccini looks and that they’re amazed we paid 10 million on him. Those people have only seen highlights on match of the day, where they don’t show all the little interventions he makes and crucial headers. Al they remember is the dodgy tackle on Van Persie in the box. But we all know he’s quality don’t we?!

What must Owen be feeling today? He must be a madman if he wants to sign a contract in light of this present crisis.

hitman – That was yesterday and it’s been reported on nufc.com

More and more this sounds like a bust up between Keegan, Wise and Lambias, not Ashley.
Ashley needs to sack Wise and Lambias if he is to salvage anything from this.
Keegan also needs to come out and say he wasn’t going to walk. Although I know some people would still bum Keegan if he’d just killed their kids, you have to admit that Keegan walking would be letting us down.

@Maggpie…..got to give the lad a chance fella…do you think Feyernoord fans gave a toss what we thought of Tommasson when they signed him after those UEFA cup winning goals for them?…its how he does for us that matters…

and on KK….he just might get his way on this one….something has to give….at the moment alot of people are giving Ashley alot of heat… commenting on speculation….now I might be wrong here but isnt this Llambias bloke running the club?? Now Big Mike might have made an error of judgement by bringing this bloke in to run the club but to blame Ashley for everything is slightly premature until we know all the facts…I firmly believe KK will stay…There are obviously a few issues that need to be ironed out and fingers crossed they will..KK may well just come out of this by getting things done his way…the board are in no doubt who the fans are backing….and without the fans the club are nothing….I dont always agree with “Fan Power” or whatever you want to call it but on this occasion I believe it has made the owner sit up and take notice…for the right reasons…KK is the only man to take this club forward…His presence, personality, footballing knowledge, the respect he commands from players and his sheer love for NUFC are just a few of the reasons he should be manager of our club….although at the moment it seems as though we are being dragged through the mud again, In a way the last few days could actually change the club for the better. Fingers crossed it does….With Kevin at the helm..

The fact that they are both willing to negotiate is a good sign and if they get things sorted out then it could make the club a lot stronger.

I think Ashley has had a major wake up call, and now knows the fans true feelings regarding Keegan. What needs to happen now is a frank discussion on what peoples jobs actually are, what powers they have and who does what. In an ideal world an announcement that Wise has left and Mort has returned would be brilliant.

    Dantoon – I don’t wish you luck, that won’t solve a thing!

As I said on the last board, Ashley is an evil man, he hasn’t done anything MASSIVELY wrong…a few naive decisions and a very badly working PR Machine doesn’t make him Hitler…All your doing is contributing (just like the toothless wonders in front of the SSN cameras all of yesterday) to the punch lines ending where our proud club once began!

To The Real Big Al – Whilst I totally understand why you say bring back Chris Mort for the sake of communication (For which it’s utter garbage these days) just remember that when Keegan was asked what role Wise was going to play at NUFC he said that the press should ask Mort when he came back from a business trip. Should we therefore blame him for having Wise? Who knows!!

Moving on!! Whilst I cannot stand the cockney bong eyed dwarf being at our club, you can’t really blame him for the mess that we are in. Like if you were offered however many 100’s of thousands to lord it over the manager and sit back and watch as transfers go wrong etc at a club you have no affinity with then I think alot of people would say yeah give me some of that. The club owner has to take the lion’s share of responsibility and Keegan surely has to say something like, “I’ve tried your way Mike and it hasn’t worked so we must now try my way. If it doesn’t work then sack me etc etc”
Ed, on the advert for Cosmetic Breast surgery is there any chance you could ask the lady to just move her arm slightly!!!! LOL

Off the poitn and keeping with other comments about XISCO, this is what was said about him from one of Depors playmakers:

‘From an attacking midfield position, I’ll look up and Xisco is always my first option for a pass. His movement off the shoulder of the defender is excellent and he always offers us plenty of options. The way he holds the ball up makes him the reference point for the rest of the team. You have just got to realise how hard he works to understand how important he can be to a team.”

Sounds impressive to me and if only we had a playmaker who could pick him out!!!!!!
