One Newcastle Solution – Have Recruitment Team Under Kevin

The Sun is reporting that an inside source has let them know what went on Monday afternoon.

Michael Owen and Kevin – did they try to sell Owen behind Kevin’s back?

It’s The Sun so we have no idea if this is just another made-up story, but if it’s true what they say Kevin Keegan has every right in the world to be upset.

This is what the source said:

“Kevin believed he would get money to spend from Milner’s sale but it was clear he wasn’t going to get a penny to spend on the last day of the transfer window.”

“So when he found out the club were trying to sell Owen and Barton, he hit the roof. It was the final straw.”

“It was a tense and angry showdown and Kevin wasn’t giving any ground. He was determined players were not going to be sold without his say so.”

“He felt that, while he had little control over the players coming in, he could certainly do something about anyone going out.”

“But the board didn’t like his attitude. As far as they are concerned, Keegan was being paid handsomely to accept their decisions.”

The structure in place is a decent one, and it may well be that the people in place, and not the structure is what’s not working. If indeed Dennis Wise or any of the recruitment team, or even Mike Ashley himself, are determining who comes and goes at the club – it will not work.

It has to be Kevin who has that responsibility 100%.

One way to ensure that is to have Wise and his recruitment team report to Kevin. Then Kevin by definition will control all player personnel. And if Wise refuses to work for Kevin – he reports directly to Derek Llambias right now, as does Kevin, then so be it – and he can leave the club.

We hope we are told fairly quickly what did go wrong, and the time is up for sugar coating it all. Maybe it will result in an expanded role for Kevin, and that would be a good solution. Another change that would work is get a Newcastle Chairman, who is a football man, and who can work closely with Kevin Keegan.

Derek Llmabias has no experience whatsoever of football management, and however good a business man he may be, he’s got to be like a duck out of water. And before the Chairman is selected make sure he has a good chat with Kevin, to ensure they can work together.

We hope this situation doesn’t drag on to much longer, and there’s still a possibility they may still not be able to reach an agreement, but at this point we think that’s very improbable, though still possible.

Comments welcome.

On 3rd September 2008, Sky Sports News reported that it was indeed Llambias who had sacked manger Kevin Keegan the day previous, and it had taken owner Mike Ashely several hours to talk Keegan back into reinstating his position.

Actually this sounds a reasonable interpretation.
Remember Mort saying KK would have last say on players coming in, nothing was ever said about the final say on players leaving.
Did someone break their word or was it never discussed who had the last say on sales.
The club sounds completely out of control lacking direction and leadership.
Give Keegan and Jimenez a transfer and wages budget and let them get on with it. They decide on buys and sales, on wages on contracts-as long as Ashley has set the limits there isnt a problem.

anyone wonder who this “source” is?

as far as im concerned, there were 4 people in that meetin (or mabye 5), and these were keegan, shley and the othr directors. so how can one of them be the source (bbq) as they were the only ones inside the meeting.

    Too many theories flying round.

1, we must know asap what is happening with KK

2, we need to restructure the transfer policy at our club.

3,why were we trying to sell more players and buy none on Monday,ie. Smith, Barton and Owen (if true)

4, put a reliable PR in place at SJP.

5, sack those responsible for this situation whether it is Llambias, Wise or if it’s Ashley hound him out of the club and get him to sell it to someone who will really look after the club and fans.

Put Keegan in Charge answering only to Chairman. Fat Ash appoints himself as “managing chairman owner fatman” and gives that retard Llambia the boot. Keegan slaps the midget about for being a fool and then tells him to go and sign Steven Appiah!!!!!

This is pathetic, KK should have been given full control of transfers in and out from the start, hes with the players day in day out, he knows there strenghts and weaknesses, in toll:

-He knows the exact type of player he needs to bring in to forward the team… The “Recruitment Team” should be given a list of the attributes in players keegan wants and go out and find them, bringing back a shortlist they have found! This gives KK the time he needs with his team hes got and to nurture in the new and young players into the side..

I hope that what has happened will not make KK leave us for good, Mike Ashley why did you have to stick your fat awe in too much ffs!

Keegan is a proud man and will not put up with this sort of crap. It sounds like the Spook and the Poison Dwarf decided they were going to run the show their way, expecting KK to be a good boy and do as he was told.

It was a stupid thing to do as it was never gonna be acceptable to KK who, rightly, threw all the toys out the pram. It looks like its now down to Ashley to sort out the ego’s and make the club tick.

I Just cant see how, with the Spook and the Dwarf there. Something is gonna have to give and that will have to be either Llambias and Wise go, or the roles changes such that the MANAGER runs the football side of the club, like most other clubs – Man Ure, Arse Nil etc etc. And the “Business” side of it is left to experts in thet field – it looks like Wise would be unable to fulfill either role!!!!!

Come on MA, you know it makes sense, now, get it sorted before positions become so entrenched that no one is prepared to back down.

Honestly lads read the following statements and then rethink if you believe this pap:

“It was a tense and angry showdown and Kevin wasn’t giving any ground”

“he hit the roof. It was the final straw”

“As far as they are concerned, Keegan was being paid handsomely to accept their decisions.”

Who the hell is this source like, Stephen King? Because this sounds like over the top story telling to me not something that would come from the mouth of a Geordie insider, I mean “a tense and angry showdown” for god sake, what were they doing f*cking shooting at each other from behind there desks.

Yep, it’s a) made up, and b) stating the obvious that the recruitment lot should report to KK and not Llambias.

All of this smacks of a football club being run by people who’ve never run a football club.

    Hang on a minute…..!

P.S. My prediction: Llambias sacked, possibly along with Wise and Jimenez. Ashley knows that’s the only way to go for him.

Ed, totally disagree. You can’t only keep the positives – everything has its dark half. Let me explain why. Ever since Wise has been at our club, he has worked with the major goal of getting rid of Keegan. He sabotaged his transfers, dude! How on earth could you see those two work in the same club!?

More detailed explanation: Wise created a lobby. Jimenes is his close friend. Obviously they got Llambias to join the camp. Now think. Director – football, vice-president, president. That is quite a good lobby.

Analyze Wise’s actions. You know the bloke. He didn’t do what he did with transfers just to mess around, he was aiming for something. Do you honestly believe he can stay and go pick youngsters and be satisfied with that? If he stays, knowing his character, won’t he keep undermining Keegan?

It isn’t a solution. It would just postpone the big crash. We don’t need Wise at the club. No matter what positives you can draw from his work, there is someone else who can do the same and do it better. Someone who will get on well with Kevin.

Anil Ambani who has had an interest in us is the 6th richest man in the world, would p**s all over citeh’s wealth, so if ashleys gona sell up he would be an intersting buyer to say the least, if KK does leave i’d love to hear what he has to say on the whole thing, bet it would raise a few eyebrows
