All Quotes Related To Keegan Resignation

So our readers are completely up to date – here are all the quotes since Kevin Keegan resigned tonight as Newcastle United manager.

Kevin Keegan – resigned tonight

Kevin issued this statement through the LMA::

“I’ve been working desperately hard to find a way forward with the directors, but sadly that has not proved possible,”

“It’s my opinion that a manager must have the right to manage and that clubs should not impose upon any manager any player that he does not want.”

“It remains my fervent wish to see Newcastle United do well in the future and I feel incredibly sorry for the players, staff and most importantly the supporters.”

“I have been left with no choice other than to leave.”

This is what the Newcastle United official statement says:

“Newcastle United Football Club is sad and disappointed that Kevin Keegan has resigned.”

Over the last few days the Club has devoted itself to the discussions it has held with Kevin and as a result of those discussions had put together a set of practical suggestions for how to move forward.”

“Today the Club made it clear to Kevin that if he had any outstanding concerns on its proposals, he should raise them with the Club.”

“The Club regrets that Kevin has, instead of taking up that offer, chosen to resign.

Just let us translate the club”s statement above – so we all understand what it says:   “It’s all Kevin’s fault.”

The LMA issued this statement tonight also:

“The letter which Kevin received today from managing director Derek Llambias has failed to resolve the matters at issue between him and the club, and accordingly he feels he has no alternative other than to resign.”

They sent him the steps by letter? Give me a break – that’s no way to communicate things so important to Newcastle United Football Club and its fans – give me a break.

LMA chief executive, Richard Bevan, said:

“The LMA has been supporting Kevin during a very difficult period. We share his great disappointment and frustration that the situation could not be resolved.”

That’s it.

There is contact between major NUFC internet sites to organise a protest for the next home game. Please keep an eye out on the likes of NUFC.com or Talk of the Tyne for further information if you wish to make your voice heard.

Aaron – I agree, we need a structure to maintain a momentum to achieve our goal. I’ intend creating a website dedicated to the removal of the board. I hope people will use it to organise effective active demonstrations as well as other methods of objecting.

Please may I say, all of those who disagree with such actions, please do not visit our proposed site, because you will not be welcome.

Sadly, supporters by nature are fickle; therefore we must maintain pressure on the board.

If others out there would prefer the task of designing the site please do so.

with regards on what to do for the hull game this is what i emailed nufc.com

I’m as ashamed as everyone about the shambolic events of the past few days. Like the ideas B) and D) on the site but I feel that a no show would be damaging for the team and would probably affect their performance. I was wondering whether it would be possible to extend option C and find a local sponsor willing to order 50,000 plain t shirts with a message on them such as ‘Ashley Out’ or ‘Thanks KK’ ect. Obviously they’d get some sponsership on the shirt and press coverage whilst mass producing the shirts means they could be bought by the firm for not too much per shirt. If needs be the t-shirts could also be sold for say £1 on the day to help the firm recoup costs (I’m sure most if not all can fork out £1 under the circumstances). There’s plenty of time for the shirts to be produced (I think) and would certainly get the message across to Ashley. This is probably a useless idea and it would require a lot of organization from someone (though there must be plenty who’d be willing) but it was just a thought I had. Anyways, keep up the good work!

Baisically I have no idea if it could be done but I’d like some general feedback-what’s the best idea so far because sooner or later we’ll all have to come to a decision.

Im gutted that KK has left, not just becoz of who it is but mainly the reason behind it. What top quality manager will want to come near NUFC now? if we are honest KK needed people around him when he first took the job after being out of football for so long. But the structure, which i think was a genuine attempt to help him, did not work and it was for all to see. What upsets me is that rather than accepting this and going back to the traditional structure Ashley has been stubborn and stuck with Wise etc ahead of KK. at the end of the day KK leaving isnt the end of NUFC this season necessarily but MA needs to get the next appointment spot on or it really could be a v v poor season. we can all say bye bye to Owen as well. why would he sign the last and most important contract of his career at the circus. It wouldnt surprise me if he took a pay cut to move to an everton for example. ahh well we had a clown in charge with FS and now MA. Lets hope he sorts out this mess. In the mean time i fully support the players and will continue to no matter what happens. Ive just signed the petition as well but look what i found, 36. NANDO HAHAHAHAAHA. WELL DONE ASHLEY. HE WAS CRAP ANYWAY.
pfft bloody spuds will be loving this wont they.

“The letter which Kevin received today from managing director Derek Llambias has failed to resolve the matters at issue between him and the club, and accordingly he feels he has no alternative other than to resign.”

thats shocking. the letter he recieved. nice to see they really tried then.

“secretary, here’s a rough draft. type it up please. make sure you say this that and the other, anything else is just filler. as long as you put those points in we should be fine”

we’re up sh!t creek fellas. the season is over 3 weeks in and i really dont know where we’re going from here. when ashley baught the club i thought it was pastures new and was really, really excited.
should have known a billionaire owner who would turn the fortunes of our club round and make us a successful force again was too good to be true. the lad has no idea what he’s doing and its a crying shame.

I’ve supported ashley since day one but god i hope those indian fellas are serious about their approach. who knows if they’d make us a household name again but they cant be any worse than what ashley has done for us now.
Take your money and run fattie, because thats exactly what you’re here for.

i think my faith as a newcastle fan is truly being tested at this moment, i have supported newcastle all my life, through the good the bad and most recently the ugly, but the direction which our great club is heading in is just ruining everything which newcastle stands for. loyal, passionnate, and a close knit community. at the moment we have a owner who sees only himself and noone else in his plans, noone is wanting to play and a massive dispution between board and staff.

    from william hills website

‘Punters who backed Keegan to go before the end of the year, which we had offered at 4/1, are celebrating, but we wouldn’t expect much in the way of celebration from fans should Dennis Wise be given the job’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

    This is a shambles.

How can a professional sporting club be run so badly!!!!!!

10 days ago we were 4th in the league, a week or so later we have no manager.

Please fans do not boycot the games, the team and players are all we have, we need to support them.

The only way this club can improve is with results on the pitch.
