Another Week In The Life Of A Newcastle Fan

It’s been quite a week for Newcastle fans, although probably not an enjoyable one.

Newcastle United fans – right now we have no idea what’s really going on

First of all we had the big anti-climax and disappointment of only signing two players on the last day of the transfer window last Monday, and that was after we had sold James Milner to Aston Villa last Friday. That wasn’t too good.

Then on Tuesday morning, when we were wondering how we’d get through the season on such a small squad, the news broke that Kevin may have resigned or may have been sacked.  Since then the club has issued two statements, and we should expect another one some time this morning from the club – to at least tell us some news on what is happening – since we have no idea.

We had a statement yesterday from the LMA, on Kevin’s behalf saying Kevin had not resigned, and basically after that, we’ve heard nothing much since. Of course the gossip papers are having a field day, but as we’ve said before, this is all at the expense of the Newcastle United Football Club.

This thing is starting to take an exorbitant amount of time to sort out, and we hate to bring this up, but Joey Barton meets with the FA Disciplinary committee tomorrow, and Kevin was going to accompany him to that meeting.

We hate to bring it up because that seems to be one of the points that Ashley and Kevin disagree on, and there were reports we even tried to sell Joey to Aston Villa last Monday.

When you look at what’s happened this week, it’s a little bit of a soap opera – but it’s just another week in the life of a Newcastle United fan. Let’s hope for some news, make that good news, this morning from the club.

Oh well – let’s keep hoping for the best – there’s not much else we can do.

Comments welcome.

Well what a week! Hopefuly Kevins future will be sorted today – basically Keegan is more important to Ashley than Llambias and Wise so a favourable outcome is expected. Either:
Keegan in charge of all things football with Wise et al reporting to him or
Keegan in charge of all things football and Wise and Llambias leaving the club. or
Keegan departing (unlikely though) – Can’t see Keeegan accepting anything less.

I thought Llambias was leaving soon and if so, why is Ashley leaving him to mediate? King herod, creche come to mind!

Given the mess in NUFC, if one his other compaies were in such a state and under such media scrutiny, would thos in charge of the ailing unit survive? I think not, they’d be out the door double quick!

Come on Mike, get on the case, be brave and do what needs to be done and that includes keeping Keegan!!

Have read the article in the Telegraph. It does seem to be more level headed than the tripe in other papers. I think a concrete alliance between fans, players and KK may help steady Ashley’s hand. The worms in the can are Wise and Llambias it seems more and more evident. The only Jonas we want at St James plays for us – the other 2 London suits can go! If Owen is leading players in a fact finding mission it lets us know where his loyalties lie – with NUFC! All hands to the pumps so we can squirt Wise and Llambias out of toon!

IanG, you got it in one mate.

Llambia will remain in charge of the “Business” as that was the role he was brought if for. To replace Chris Mort and run the club for MA.

The Poison Dwarf (DW) has no real role in the club and should be removed. His functions are normally done by the manager at most proffessional clubs anyway!!

Jiminez and Vetere would appear to be doing the role intended of them and have produced 5 good players. These guys should be kept on, but they should be reporting to KK, not to the dwarf.

The solution is in Ashleys hands and although it may cause him some pain to remove Wise from the club, the rest is merely a restructuring of the reporting system and ensuring that KK is in charge of ALL THINGS to do with the Football side of the club. KK in turn reports to the MD as is usual.

I cant see KK having any problem with such an arrangement. At least I would hope not.

Ashley obviously wants to keep Keegan or he would have gone by now….

KK is going to come out the winner in all of this..Wise’s position is about to become untenable (Spelling)

A man with not just 52,000 backing him, not to mention every single Toon fan wants him out….I mentioned this yesterday….We look a mess at the minute but these issues were obviously bubbling away underneath the surface….maybe the only way that these issues were going to be resolved was for them to be made public….

Keegan is not daft…He knew there would be practically a riot if the fans knew what was really going on…Hopefully in the not too distant future we will look back on this week and think that it changed the club for the better…even though it has bloody made us look like fools again…

one step back to take two steps forward comes to mind…..

Roeder said: “The club is a tragedy and it goes from one disaster to another

To be fair, Roeder has a point. I don’t think he was trying to kick us when we’re down. He was just pointing out that it’s the supporters that suffer, and he’s right.

I bet that comment from Roeder gets pulled out of all proportion by some idiot that takes every word he said and twists it to make him sound like a Geordi hating nazi. It’s what the press do.

Allerdyce has spoken out, surprisingly, in support of the club. Watch his words get twisted before the day is out as well.

Ive just read Ashley is away in America on a business trip, then going on holiday to the Bahamas, you would think he would be back sorting this mess out, not leaving it to the goons who caused it in the first place.

Looney Toon, whatever has happened, and whatever happens next, we still don’t know what is going on, or what has gone on. All we have is what the press tell us.

Do you believe everything you read?
Do you believe anything you read?

Wait patiently gents. I think this will be resolved for the better and then we can get back to looking forward to beating Hull.

If Keegan still goes to the Barton hearing and this is still going on, it will show a lot of dedication on his part, and might encourage the FA not to go so hard on the player.

Why state the obvious, when its….obvious!

We could do with out past managers and associates stating the obvious and keeping us in the rags.

Dignified silence, is something footballers rarely understand.

Newcastle are the only ones who can sort their own mess out….now thats obvious.

I Dont think people should red much in the fact that KK is not at training, I hazard a guess that most prem league clubs have very little training going on this week as most players are away on international duty, the ones left over will be the juniors and squad players..oh and Owen !

Read a bit more into it if he is still not there come monday to start preparing for the hull game

Roeder is only saying that the club has never had any stability. No need to take it out of proportion.

I personally believe Keegan has walked, or is looking for a way out as he has something in his contract that prevents him from just walking and he’s looking for a loophope.

Hope I’m wrong but the damage is done now. ashley and co can’t turn back time. keegan was humiliated by the last transfer window. He didn’t get the players he wanted. He was the one that put his neck on the line when he told us after selling Milner to judge him after Monday. We didn’t get the replacement, he feels totally humiliated and feels he’s let us down.

Our squad is very small and with every injury we pick up we’re going to feel it.

Looks like its all about how much the KK pay off will be.
Unlikely MA will fire the rat Wise.
If thats the case MA will have destroyed any possible chance of a reconcilliation with the fans, which could prove fatal for a continued ownership.
The present chaos is a reflection on MA`s policies, his treatment of KK has been embarrasing.
No manager in the league with any integrity would put up with being reduced to the role of cheerleader.
If MA wants to salvage this situation its not brain surgery.
Fire “The Wise Guys”give KK the authority and
funds to rebuild the team and sure continue the youth policy, using arsenal as a role model.
    The alternative SELL!

I ‘m not convinced that Wise was acting off his own bat. The salary he was on (supposedly 1.5million), his status as a board member and the freedom he seemed to have to drive player recruitment and more importantly, player selling, must have come from Ashley. Wise’s salary cannot be much less than Keegan’s. That says something. It says he’s not just in charge of finding a few talented kids or emailing opta stats to KK. That’s the job of a Chief Scout.
Its reasonable, that we may have a policy preferencing young players who will still have an asset value at the end of their first contract. KK seems to have bought into that. But the manager is judged on results, whereas Wise is judged on return on investment. The two are not the same.

I think keegan is in a pretty strong position at the moment, either way if he is sacked or walks out Ashley is the shiza having to face the fans and find a big manager to replace him. I see keegan negotiating a stronger position regarding transfer issues leaving Ashley no choice but to shift the bog eyed dwarf out or to one side. The situation is a shambles and is not helped at all by the complete lack of communication between fans and club.
