My father supported Newcastle United all his life, and used to go to all the away games during the successful times of the early 1950s.
A much prouder day in Newcastle United’s History – 1955
My Dad’s the 4th from the right at the back – 6 rows down – see him?
He attended the FA Cup Final in 1955, with my mother, when we whipped Manchester City 3-1, and were ahead 1-0 after just a minute with a goal (a header!) from the great Jackie Milburn.
Both my parents are now dead, but I think my Dad will be turning in his grave tonight, at the events of this week, that have made Newcastle United into a laughing stock, if we weren’t already.
The new regime at Newcastle United have proved to us this week, just how inadequate and unqualified they are at being the custodians of this proud football club.
At best they don’t seem to have a clue of how to run a football club, which of course they have never done before.
The have proved to be utterly incompetent at best.
We would hope that things may be better tomorrow, and right now we feel like quoting Scarlett O’Hara in Gone With The Wind
After all – tomorrow is another day.
We hope it’s a lot better one than today, that’s for sure.
Comments welcome.

Comment #42daiv – why so obsessed with proving you were right? I believed Ashley till the last days of the transfer window and I was obviously wrong – so what – doesn’t make me a bad person or a bad fan. Keegan was an optimist and that’s part of the reason many of us were attracted to his style. There’s no point us all pointing fingers at each other or having unnecessary arguments – we ALL now know who the real bad guy is. There can’t be many deluded souls left

Comment #44Daiv you need to get off your high horse mate. It is so hard to accept that people can change their opinion of someone. Earlier we all like Ashley for brining in KK, then he rapidly undermined him and now it has led to KK leaving. As a direct result of that people who wanted to see the best in the man have changed their view point. And your answer to this is to criticize him! Furthermore mate if you disagree with what Ed has done so much then why do u insist on returning to his site? Sorry mate but right now Toon fans need to stick together and you are not doing that. Have your opinion by all means but don’t come on here and attack other people’s.

Comment #45Why is Mark Jensen on SSN saying that Ashley now needs to show leadership and show us the way forward. Youve got to be f*cking joking (sorry for language)!!!!
No Mark- what Ashley needs to do is never set foot back in our ground again- the time for him to speak up and show leadership was during the past few days when all this shit has been going on. What did we heard instead? Sweet FA.
Ill say it again if were gonna let Ashley get away with this then were all mugs and are letting Keegan down.
Whoever owns the club in name at the end of the day ITS OUR CLUB- without us the supporters it would be worth nothing…

Comment #50Always used to defend us against this accusation but right now we are an absolute joke of a club. From one incompetent moron to the next (Freddy to Ashley). I’m actually embarrassed to be a Newcastle fan today. Also absolutely gutted for Kev, he wanted to be here so much and the board have forced him out. Now for us to force them out

Comment #51I’m just so gutted to see Keegan go. I had so much respect for him. He was one great bloke. In the good old days when my cousin Gavin used to play for Newcastle. i was lucky back then, free tickets in the players lounge, things like that. But Keegan always took the time out to come over and speak to me, discuss tacktics things like that. At the time I was just a 15/16 year old kid. It was so good to see the person who managed my club so willing to do things and look out for the suporters. when he cam back I thought the good old days might return, entertaining football and a manger to look out for the paying public. But oh no, some fool of an owner has to go and spoil it for everybody. How he thinks he could make a profit by ruining a club and its assets is beyond me. I think he has knocked 0’s of the price tag now

‘Punters who backed Keegan to go before the end of the year, which we had offered at 4/1, are celebrating, but we wouldn’t expect much in the way of celebration from fans should Dennis Wise be given the job’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Comment #56How long is this going to continue, You think the worst is over with our club and then the management managaes to fuch things over and takes a step further down.
Somehow i think the fans needs to have a say on how the club is run instead of couple of twats whos main goal is profit.

Comment #6216 OnePutt – you are so so wrong, you say get behind the players; you do that and Ashley will be laughing all the way to the bank.
The only way to show our disgust is go to the ground but do not enter. Cause massive town centre congestion and have an empty stadium. The media coverage will be immense and his embarrassment will be huge.
The Fat boy will then get the message.
If we turn up as normal he will think that he has won. This needs drastic action.

Comment #63Daiv…maybe people supported Ashley because they wanted to get behind the club and try to beleive there was a good future.
Yes, he was just playing the fans, but we wanted to give him a chance. Well after a year and one summer transfer window and allowing the Messiah to leave, his chance has gone and he should get out of Toon.
But before there was no good reason to right him off.

Comment #65it annoys me when people are askin ‘who the next manager will be’
I don’t want one,.. and won’t accept one.
because the new manager will be the choice of the board
the board ignored the fans, the city and even the city council.. the board have no respect for the city it relies upon, and the hand that feeds it. disgrace.
the only way forward is a new owner, a new board.. and a kevin keegan or Alan shearer to MANAGE. (in the true sense of the word)
and i truely expect terry mc, and all newcastle city, reps working at the club to resign tommorow

I for 1 have stuck with Ashley since day 1. After all, was it so hard to believe we could potentially have 1 of the most down to earth chairman in the premier league? I would like to think not.
So sorry for all us fans that atleast had faith in MA until this last blunder. So Daiv, by the sounds of it, you already pre-judged him before you even new him? Because you never changed your mind once? otherwise, your an even worse hypocrit.
lastly, Daiv.. dont think ive ever seen u make an actual decent comment, on this blog at all.

Comment #69What a terrible week. If Ashley thinks that its like the scousers protesting against the yanks he has another thing coming. The straw that broke the camels back for me was when they didn’t sign the players we desperatly needed (that spoke volumes). But on top of that to push keagan out for questioning the recruitment is unthinkable. You do not treat legends of the football club you own like this. Sadly I think we could go right down the shitta if he keeps the club. The only positive thing that could come out of this mess is that with all the publisity it has generated it may alert a wealthy would be purchaser of our magnificent clubs passionate supporters!!

Comment #72Daiv I got slated on here lots for picking faults with Ashley, the ambition,Wise,Transfers, the utter contempt towards the fans.
This is the day Mike showed his true colurs…Gus Poyet and Wise managing it will be like the Krankies !
With Owl head as supporting role in the comedy.
I am gutted about keegan going but it is maybe a blessing as he will now have to sell as stay away from the Ground.
I am intrigued to see what will happen over the coming days and weeks…the show certainly aint over yet Yet…not until the fatFK leaves anyway.

Man life was looking sweet for NUFC.
Gradually over the last 7 months I have watched this fat cashless b*stard penny pinch and have no communication with the fans/press,all from the safety of the gallowgate end with the lads!Fat Fu*k.
Now he kicks us all in the head and laughs. He knows no matter what we think,we can basically do nowt, except boycott.
I would love to see him back in the stands with the boys.He couldn’t hire enough bouncers.
KK you are a fkin LEGEND,he treat you like sh*t and we will do the same to him.No future for MA at the club.If people think they should still be behind the club after what’s gone on,well fair enough, that’s your opinion.REMEMBER the club isn’t ours anymore,he is sole owner he can do what he likes.SUPPORTING THE CLUB NOW IS SUPPORTING MA.WHO OBVIOUSLY DOESN’T GIVE A SH*T.
THAT FAT BA*STARD HAS P*SSED ME OFF SO MUCH I DON’T EVER WANNA SEE HIS FKIN FACE AGAIN.I DON’T CARE ABOUT ANYTHING BUT THE FUTURE OF THIS CLUB BUT IT HAS TO BE WITHOUT HIM AND HIS CRONIES.
Absolutely gutted.

Comment #76Like lots of others, I was gullible enough to dream the dream with Ashley, and as such must be included in the scathing wrath of Daiv and to a lesser degree Hitman!
However, what we should remember is that we are all Toon fans and want the best for our club and should be uniting together in how we can best influence the current situation rather than squabbling internally and pointing fingers.

Comment #77guys i’m sorry for your loss. i’m a spurs fan. brought up on the glory game. if any other club matches that philosophy it was newcastle under kk. the bastards in the boardroom just don’t get it. football is more than a business, kk was heart and soul a football man. but when the clowns have gone , the money has dried up, and sky found a new tv sport to ruin, football will come back to the fans and the clubs will treat the supporters with respect, even if tis only cos they need our money again.

Comment #79I can’t believe this, I really can’t.
It’s actually, the way people are feeling, acting, it’s like someone died.
The only time I’ve ever seen anything to this caliber was the World Cup in 02 when Keane was sent home.
Ye should have seen the state we got in over here. It was insane. It’s a topic you just don’t talk about because people are so divided about it.
But the way we’re feeling now is almost exactly how we felt when Keane was sent home.
This is rivaling that at the moment.
