Newcastle’s Four Managers In 15 Months – Some Stability

Glenn Roeder was sacked in May of last year, and since then he has been replaced by Sam Allardyce and then Sam was replaced by Kevin Keegan, two big names in football, with the latter already being a legend not only on Tyneside, but in Liverpool and around the world.

Mike Ashley – dragging Newcastle United through gutter by incompetence

But now with Kevin Keegan resigning last night, we’ll now presumably have to appoint our fourth manager in a very short 15 months, and it will be the third manager since Mike Ashley arrived at the club.

One of things Mike Ashley and Chris Mort had said when they arrived on Tynesdie last summer, was Newcastle needed stability and needed to get away from managers being replaced every year or so.

And we remember also in February that Chris Mort, speaking on the new recruitment organization he has just put in place that Kevin Keegan had the final say on all players, and therefore there would be no problems, and certainly no conflict with the newly formed Recruitment Team, led, of all people, by Dennis Wise.

We are mentioning this today, because that’s what happened and that’s some of things they said, and subsequent events have shown we cannot take Ashley, or his new management, at their word.

Indeed they have brought shame on the proud name of the Newcastle United Football Club.

We need to hear from Ashley, or one of his cronies, a full explanation for how incompetently they have run the Newcastle United Football club since they took it over last summer, and exactly what has been going on in the negotiations with Kevin Keegan over these last several days.

We are waiting for Mike Ashley to address his customers, the many many fans of Newcastle United, spread all over the world, who today have been left in complete disarray and disillusionment, with the events of this week.

i think ashley has the chance to become a legend at newcastle, he has sorted out all the debt at newcastle and seems to have a good business mind, but for him to become a legend he has to stay well away from the football affairs and just supply the money for the club so our manager can do his stuff, and only then will he become a legend because right now i think ian huntley is more popular in newcastle at the moment

AlexW – i agree with staying away from the football side 100% – but a legend? I think far too much water has passed under the bridge for that to happen now. Unless he is about to unveil Mourinhio as the next boss !!!! lol

Xisco has already made a statement about it, already the press are trying to unsettle him and blame this on him because apparently his transfer was the final straw. We NEED to get behind the players and support them.

Why sack the board ? Ashley owns the club and has all his own people on the board – the club is no longer a PLC – therfore what would be gained ? Ashley to sell up and we get a new board fair enough but calling sack the board just makes us look ignorant. In my opinion! No offence

The chances of a decent manager taking over as manager of NUFC are zero.

All we will get is an Ashley yes man who will do as he’s told.

He has proved beyond doubt that his only interest is money. Not the fans, not the players, purely money.

If you look back at my previous few posts i told you all exactly what was happening about owen and kk quitting. I even told you when the statement was going to be released. Poyet wont be coming as manager. Apparently Deschamps was sounded out ast week.

All this talk of not renewing season tickets is crazy. You will only punish yourselves as someone else will snap up your ticket. KK is a quitter. He wanted out as he knew football has changed and he was never going to succeed. He has used Xisco being signed as an excuse.

Wise has a lot of say at the club and Ashley trusts him. He wont be going anywhere soon. The little prick definatly wants the job but senior directors dont want him.

If you start causing havoc you will not appeal to managers who probably think they cant win by taking the job as it is.

The papers write a lot of crap about your club(holds up hands), dont give them more stuff to write about by having mass demonstrations especiakky when you are defending a man who has now quit on you twice.

Everton’s David Moyles is being tipped as the next manager. Evidently he is unhappy with what he was given for a transfer kitty.

Why on earth would he leave a decent club, to work for the bunch of knobs at SJP??

spyro you said in the other thread about not protesting and so forth. Whilst i think a protest during the game is the last thing that should be done – they players need everyone behind them right now, ashley and co. can not be let to get away with this. Even if KK isn’t the innocent man everyone is making him out to be, the way the board have left their supporters in the dark is not something that can go unpunished.

It’s more then a wee bit of a joke to be he honest. This time, at least in the last situatoin there was grounds for the manager to leave, and the fans backed that, but this time it’s a disgrace.
Given and Harper have seen a total of 8 managers come and go.
That’s 8 managers in 11 seasons or something like that.
We need stability, our players need stability, if we want to do well, if we want to progress then stability is needed. The manager needs to be given a chance and I’m disgusted beyond belief that Keegan wasn’t.

to tell the truth, we have bought fantastically this summer, maybe not enough buys, but they are all quality. Whoever IS in charge of the buys should carry on. They clearly know what they are doing.

I cannot believe that I have given the fat —- £2000 of my hard earned money for season tkts for the next 3 seasons for myself and my son. MUG – I believed investment would be made – £10m sspent since he took over , we have the only Billionaire who is apparently skint !! I must say that I was not 100% in favour of KK returning but the least he has to be is in control of all team matters – one word – unbelievable – laughing stock again and I for one am sick of it

As much as we all wanted kk to stay in charge he was always goin to walk at some point and we all new it deep down.

Also, something i don’t understand is if the arab group had come to ashley wanting to buy Newcastle and he wouldn’t sell, then why hasn’t he put a lot of dollars back into transfers. He could’ve made a quick buck by selling, but he didn’t. which would lead me to believe he likes the club, and wants to stay and build something.

I don’t think Ashley realised that the major investors in the club isn’t him, but US….THE FANS!!!

There is pretty much no way for him to redeem himself, none that I can see!!!

Our only hope is that Ashley has the sense to jump ship (and at a pretty damn good profit) and hopefully the new owners come in and give us that cash injection we deservedly need!!!

The fans want to see a return for there loyalty, we want to see some of the best players gracing the pitch at SJP and playing in front of 55000 fans!!!!

The original decisions is where it all fell down. If Ashley was going for the “continental” director of football and transfer team set up (worked well for Ramos at Sevilla at lost of others mostly Spanish teams), then why did he bring in Keegan who everyone knew would not accept a system like that. He should have got someone who would work under that system. The system could of worked and still could. For whatever reason he went for Keegan at that point he should have realised that the system he had in mind wouldn’t work so change it.

It was such a simple either or option.
Director of football – hire someone who can work under one.
Keegan – no director of football.

What scares me even more is they went for Redknapp who has made it clear that he wouldn’t work like that either. Traditional English managers like Redknapp and Keegan like to manage. If Ashley wanted a director of Football he needed to hire a Head Coach!

When MA appointed KK as manager it was a master stroke, but he now has a massive problem, ignore the sack the board and MA out chats, for a moment, how does he top appointing King Kev as manager, I don’t think he can, whoever comes in will be judged on what KK did years ago, which is unfair, but I know it will happen. My 2 choices are Ottmar Hitzfeld and Louis van Gaal, not that either of them will wan to come to SJP 🙁
