Henry, Beckham and Lampard To Newcastle – No Chance

According to reports in The Sun, former Newcastle United boss Kevin Keegan, wanted to bring in Thierry Henry, David Beckham and Frank Lampard, but the request was rejected by club owner Mike Ashley.

David Beckham – while at Madrid – no chance of getting him on Tyneside

Ashley is looking at bringing in younger players, who have not reached their full capabilities, and it’s a very good strategy, but right now we also have to have a team for this season that can qualify for Europe at the very least.

And we have no idea if this news is true before we really should be very wary of any news that is coming out, because a lot of it, at the end of the day will be made up.

We just don’t know what the truth is and what isn’t.

But if this story is true it seems a little stupid that it caused the rumpus that if did, because there’s no way the club could have signed any of those players.

Frank Lampard would never have come to Newcastle, because he would have gone to Inter Milan to rejoin Jose Mourinho, and why would he sign for a club that wasn’t even in Europe, and is far away from his London base.

The same argument with Thierry Henry, who is at Barcelona, with reports that Man United were interested in him, and David Beckham will be at the LA Galaxy for another four years, and the only chance we would have had there, was to get him on loan at the end of the MLS season.

This famous Newcastle insider who seems to tell The Sun all these stories, is said to have made this comment:

“These were the players Keegan really wanted and he didn’t seem to care about how much they would cost… But the reaction of the board was ‘no chance — we’re not spending that sort of money on players like these.”

“As far as Mr. Ashley was concerned, he didn’t want players that would cost so much. He wanted Keegan to find unknown youngsters who would become the next Beckham and Lampard of their generation.”

It’s hard to think there’s much truth in this story, because on the last day of the season, why would be trying for these deals, which would seem to be impossible ones?

Comments welcome.

I can’t believe this story is true. I can possibly believe the Henry bit as I was hoping that might of been our WOW signing, but lampard and beckham I think is made up rubbish.

I think KK would of know there would be no chance of lampard coming to us and even if he did would we really of wanted him?

Daivd beckham is the same, as you said the only possible chance of him coming to us would be through a loan deal when they finish playing over there.

    This famous inside source.

Isn’t there a law or something that papers have to at least have some truth in their stories.

I can’t see how they are allowed to get away with this constant blatant lying about our club just to make them a few extra quid.

Could’t they be forced to actually name a real person?

Actually it might be the club deliberately” leaking stuff” to start their campaign to make Keegan look like an idiot. If it is expect a lot of this sort of stuff in the next few days/weeks especially if there is compensation at stake.

Re the boards statement : saying things are facts does not make them facts : but if you say lies long enough and loud enough sufficient people believe them to be facts

“It is a fact that NUFC’s financial constraints inform its transfer dealings.”

It is a fact that Kevin was not allowed to transfer in or out the players of his choice. The manager should be allowed to be active in the transfer market subject to the financial constraints in place. The financial constraints themselves should not determine transfer activity

Anybody reads this? It makes the board seem alot less at fault if this insider is real. The targets they identified are more realsitic an maybe Sweinstegier was meant to be the WOW signing and they even had a fee agreed with Bayern.

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/newcastle/article4692140.ece

It also claims the club never had tried to sell Owen.

But even if this story is true, 12 million transfer budget…that is pathetic.

These gadgies have got to go man.

It is a fact, that this club was bought purely as a money making business oppertunity.

One in which, the owner re-sells the club as soon as the appropriate large profit can be made.

Shame on you Ashley, you had us for mugs, but you’ve been found out.

Get out, the sooner the better, if you have any morals at all?

The more crap that they put on the web site like this the more I loathe them.

Is there anyway that we can bombard this site to make it crash?
