Shay - We Need To Get Newcastle Back On Track

Shay Given has admitted that Newcastle United are once again in turmoil after Kevin Keegan’s resignation last week.

Shay Given - concentrating on World Cup qualifiers

The Ireland goalkeeper said yesterday:

“There’s a lot gone on but I am over here concentrating on a World Cup qualifier.” “I don’t like to talk too much about all the stuff that’s gone on at the club.”“I know it’s happened, but there’s not much I can do out here. I don’t know what has gone on, really.”

Shay will be hoping the club can put another turbulent week in its history behind it to set about the business of re-establishing the club in the upper reaches of the Barclays Premier League.

But without Kevin Keegan it seems like this season could become another rebuilding season, with yet another manager coming in.

Certainly the fans in Newcastle seem solidly against Mike Ashley and his cronies, and want them out, since they have brought disaster and ridicule to the club, and seem to treat the fans with utter disdain.

Shay continued:

“It’s not for me to say what should happen with the owner of the football club. We all want the club to move forward and hopefully, we will do that.”“There’s a bit of turmoil at the minute, obviously, but we’d like the get the club back on track and get it going in the right direction again.”

Ireland beat Georgia 2-1 yesterday, at a neutral venue in Mainz, Germany. because of the current unrest in Georgia, and the Georgia goal wasn’t scored until the second minute of injury time. So almost a clean sheet for the terrific Given, who has been in top form this season for Newcastle.

    they should storm in…if they want to join the que at the jobcentre….GIVEN GAVE A SMART RESPONSE….since he can’t say i’ll speak on his behalf….fu*k off ashley and find ur self a new goal keeper….maybe u should put wise in goal!

    Ya just on another note, he did well yesterday, didn’t have much to do Ireland were pretty good, John O Shea and Dunne did really well together..ya I know, O Shea, defending, I looked for flying pigs. He was very unlucky not to keep a clean sheet, couldn’t do anything about the goal, McShane was on the goal line, proving yet again that he’s know where near international standards. He could have cleared it instead of heading it into his own goal, that and Dunne, right when the ball was hit was standing right in front of Shay so he couldn’t see a thing. The first he knew of the ball was when it was too late.
    But he did well enough, he’d little to do but he controlled his area well which I like to see. The other keeper though..ya hadn’t a great game. LOL!!

    Friends–

    Protests, boycotts and new ownership are all good ideas to be considered and worked on at the beginning. And thanks to all who are working on them (HPS, notably–you’re busting your ass to make this march happen…)

    But a new billionaire owner will be as unaccountable as the current and former money men. THEY JUST DON’T CARE ABOUT THE CLUB. They treat it as a cash machine–an investment in a business. The don’t care about what we care about.

    During and after these immediate actions, we should think bigger and more creatively for the longer term.

    I haven’t checked out this site fully, but it’s looks like the first big step in FAN OWNERSHIP. Please, check it out.

    Fan ownership is not a fairy tale. It’s done all over Europe and it can be done here.

    Many respond to this by saying “We can’t afford 4,000 pounds for a membership,” but there must be other ways to get mass memberships–perhaps memberships at different price levels.

    No more unaccountable money men.

    I have often wondered about the fans owning the club. The question I have is if we all chip in and buy a bit. How do we go about affording millions on new players when a fat cat like MA cant?

    Am I being naive or something. If anyone can give a breakdown of the logistics of owning a club, I would very much like to hear it.

    Just thought I’d through this in here.
    Shay picked up a wee knock in training this morning.
    He should be ok, he’s a wee doubt for Wednesdays match, he’ll train tomorrow and they’ll know more then, but he should be ok. He’ll definitly be fit for Newcaslte’s next game, and IT IS NOT HIS GROIN. Just a wee knock.

    Feel for shay, and surely as fans we should get behind him and his fellow players, and try and move on- forward that is not backwards, as quickly as we can.

    shay old skool though, so he’s seen plenty of this in his years at the club- just anither day at the office! lol.

    There’s a team, perhaps you’ve heard to them, called Barcalona FC. They are owned by the fans. Rumour has it that they’ve been know to spend a few quid on players now and again.
