Ashley Has Three Options at Newcastle - Fact

September 8th, 2008 · 94 Comments

With Newcastle fans still furious at London-based owner Mike Ashley’s decision to allow Kevin Keegan to retire last Thursday, all of Newcastle is wondering what will happen now to our famous club.

Kevin Keegan - laying low right now

Mike has done the unthinkable by dragging the name of the Newcastle United club, once again, into a soap opera setting, and it is unlikely he will be able to patch up the differences with the Newcastle fans and public.

And the statement that apparently he issued on Saturday night, made things even worse, because not only did it contradict earlier statements made by the Newcastle Board, but the tone of the announcement was one of anger, and somewhat denigrating to Newcastle fans.

So what does Mike Ashley do now?

There are three possible scenarios that we see:

  1. Ashley appoints a new manager and tries to get on with things. This seems to be his most likely action right now, but he doesn’t yet realize the depth of feeling against him in Newcastle.
But we still think he will probably find somebody who is willing to manage within the strict confines of not being able to choose his own players, which we think is almost impossible to manage under those conditions.
But if he is going to do this he would probably want to do it quickly.
  2. Ashley sells the club to some consortium or some other individual. Although there is news recently that the Reliance Group is pulling out of any proposed deal, the worldwide publicity of this event could alert many other companies that this may be a good time to buy the famous club with tremendous fan support.
We still wouldn’t rule this out as a good possibility.
  3. Mike Ashley does a complete U turn and tries to save face by re-appointing Kevin and giving him responsibility for who comes and goes at the club.
We really thought that Mike would have moved fast on Friday to do this just this, but he’s missed the opportunity window to fix things up now.  This is now becoming more remorte by the day with so much mud-slinging going on in the press.
This would have been the easiest resolution, but Mike has missed his chance of redemption.

What the club has managed to do since Thursday evening is to make their case very weak in both public opinion and in the courts, as it is clear they told the fans on multiple occasions that Kevin had the final say on all players – which of course is how it should be.

We’ll put a poll up as to which scenario the fans would most like out of the above three.

Comments and opinions always welcome - but please keep the language decent for publication.

Ed - Please change the Ashley picture to something more appropriate. I am sick of the sight of him. Please use a picture of a two faced lying git in future.

does any one know if they were sacked or did they walk, sacked I would have thought

  • 17 mozza // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:12

imo david craigs wrong, it would be nice to have KK back, but we’re not complete turds and if a new owner wants a different man to manage the club thats his choice, its getting in a new owner that remains of paramount importence

  • 18 carl // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:13

i hold mcdermot in the same regard as keegan, this is an absolut joke. so who we got at nufc now to motivate the players?

  • 19 mozza // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:14

my spellings getting worse, must be the stress i think

  • 20 A.L 9 // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:14

GeordieJayne we will all keep on marching but atleast people are attempting to try and salvage something from this mess, if that means boycotting a game for the good of the club then so be it if they think it will work.

Dont be mistaken though that they are fickle, they are just sick of all the shit and need to atleast try and end it once and for all.

  • 21 Toon_Ksk // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:16

Ashley has lost his credibility. He might as well sell the club. There is little he can do to win back the fans as what he has done is beyond redemption.

  • 22 Fergie // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:16

3 is never going to happen and 2 most likely will not happen, leaving us with option 1 unfortunately. If he does appoint a new boss we must fully support him (unless its Wise), despite the fact we know they have been appointed by Ashley.

Obviously, like most people, I would like to see option 2 happen in an ideal world, but, the longer this goes on i’m starting to think about potential new managers…. sorry, bitch@s, or yes-men.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Fatich Terim come in or Gianfranco Zola. I reckon Zola is probably the closest thing we could get to KK (except for the Newcastle connections). I think he would become like a friend to the players and be well-liked and also concentrate on ball work and playing good football.

  • 23 Socrates // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:16

Terry McDermott’s gone according to SSN, so I doubt he plans to bring KK back.

  • 24 mozza // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:19

ashleys expected back today or tomorrow, no rush then eh, our clubs only falling apart, no manager, coaches leaving and the pr guys doing their best to incite a riot, roll on saturday when we can let our feelings be known, these goons are in for a shock

  • 25 A.L 9 // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:20

Fergie Terim wouldn’t be a yes man so I doubt he’ll get the job.

  • 26 A.L 9 // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:23

Someone should find out who The Suns insider is and persuade him to poison Ashley and Wise’ teas, he seams to have access to everything from Newcastle training sessions to boardroom meetings so it shuldn’t be too hard for him…

  • 27 dave v // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:25

Make your protest by cancelling your season ticket direct debits, hit the toe rag were it hurts.
Have a march, protest in the stadium, and when you have found that this hasn’t worked go nuclear and remove his money from the club.

  • 28 Micky Toon // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:25

The thing is mozza is that Ashley should not have to be here to run the club that is why he has a chairman. He, like any other businessman has other concerns that would also need his attention. Unfortunately he’s appointed a man that seems so incompetent he makes the lookout on the Titanic look good.

  • 29 clinta // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:27

‘Mike Ashley’s decision to allow Kevin Keegan to retire last Thursday’ ?? i’m still baffled by this line of argument that it is totally MA’s fault that KK walked- again…

‘much mud-slinging going on in the press.’ I agree, but feel this is the real issue, why we are were we are today. there have been attacks against MA since day one (by your own omission ed) and I feel since KK walked most fans full of emotion have listened to alot of lies and wild theories from the press. this has had a huge knock on effect and we now see- i feel due to this, the club torn apart.

evidence of this is clear if you read alot of the posts on this site, were people mention things that have been disproven such as the barton to pompy thing, and things that have not been proven, such as the MO transfer theory.

okay MA and co. have handled themselves poorly with recent events, and clearly made mistakes, but everything looks like sh”*t if you only look at the negatives which is what i feel the clear majority of fans are doing.

i still hold hope that cooler heads will prevail and we can come out of this in one piece.

  • 31 Spyro // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:31

The Sun insider doesnt exist, just like the rest of the “toon insiders”. Why are there so many pick and choosers on here?

  • 32 mozza // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:31

aye micky i agree llambias has failed miserably as has the pr team and ashley for hiring llambias in the first place, bad bad move

  • 33 Sav // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:32

Depends how determined and sustained the fans are to oust him. We would be doing a great service not only to our own club but to every side in the Prem by showing some ‘fan power’.
We need some leadership, clear goals and a unified campaign to make it work.

Right now, nobody is sure which march he is on, whether he should attend the matches but not buy a drink, or what colour T-shirt to pull on over his toon top. I hope a spokesman can emerge so we don’t have to be represented by the opinions of some muppet with a bedsheet outside Shearer’s Bar.

  • 34 DarkStar // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:32

clinta what you on about man? are you really that thick?

the club released a statement, that has proven to be a pack of lies.

  • 37 Bill F Ash Didn't Splash :( // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:42

Looks like Terry Mac and Adam Sadler have been sacked, talk about night of the long knives. Seems they are having a real clear out of anyone sypmpathetic to KK. It just gets worse.

  • 38 dick // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:43

terry mac and sadler told not to go to training ground and report to sjp instead to be told their fate, at least ashley will have to pay of their contracts

  • 39 Spyro // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:44

Does anyone actually care Terry Mac is gone? What was his job again?

  • 40 LEE // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:49

Do you think Chris Mort saw this shit coming?

  • 41 Luke // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:50

I’m annoyed Sadler’s leaving as he’s a local guy who was doing a good job by all accounts. Terry Mac is the water boy.

  • 42 Bill F Ash Didn't Splash :( // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:51

Spyro I must admit that I always felt he something of an anomaly at the club but I was coming round to the opinion (before the current fiasco) that he was actually doing a decent job there. He certainly seemed to have KK’s respect and he was with him at the first coming.

  • 43 The Entertainers // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:53

    Spyro……poor comment mate.

Terry Mac has been the only point of stability over the past few years and i’m sure has been a complete rock over the years towards players. I bet much of his work does go unnoticed from the outside.

I say well done Terry for walking if that indeed is what you have done. You will always be appreciated by one fan at least and would prefer you not to work for the current board.

  • 44 Micky Toon // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:54

I’m not fussed about Terry Mac and Happy Gilmore leaving. I thought Terry Mac must have a season ticket, as he hasn’t had a job since Keegan first left. What is a bit worrying is that Happy has gone and he hadn’t long been in the job.
To me this doesn’t say clear the way for new owners, but clear the way for a new manager.
Also, if you were Lambias, etc.. wouldn’t you want to bin one of KK’s closest mates?

  • 45 Spyro // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:54

    Bill F

what job was he doing well? im not being funny, i genuinely don’t know his job role

  • 46 Macas // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:55

If the board wanted to fuel the fire then I think they have succeeded if this is true. You think they would try and clear this mess up instead of hiding behind a website and showing very little class or backbone.

  • 47 Spyro // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:56

    The Entertainers

I cant be disappointed about him leaving as i dont know what he contributed. Sadler seemed a good young coach and i am a little disappointed he has gone…not much though

  • 48 BenjToon // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:57

I care that Terry Mac’s gone. Not because he did an awful lot but because he has been a loyal and faithful sevant to the club as a player and working under several managers.

Also care that Sadler’s gone as he always sounded like a good coach and a good bloke to me.

This is a sign isn’t it? They’re digging in and preparing for their own yes man by ousting all that were loyal to KK.

  • 49 David // Sep 8, 2008 at 11:59

What really gets me is that all the negative comments just make the situation worse: it makes it harder to attract a manager, harder to attract players and harder to find a buyer for the club.

I feel like King Canute - but can everyone calm down!

  • 50 BenjToon // Sep 8, 2008 at 12:00

Another point on Terry Mac - he was Keegan’s “buffer” first time round. And when Souness brought him back it was to do the same thing…talk to players, earn their respect, help motivate them and be the friendly ear they need when the manager (or club) are asking them to do more difficult things, or giving them a hard time.

So sacking him now BEFOR A NEW MANAGER is appointed, who may want someone in that role, is a sign the club hierachy want to enforce their rule over the players.

  • 51 Spyro // Sep 8, 2008 at 12:00

    Benjitoon

“I care that Terry Mac’s gone. Not because he did an awful lot but because he has been a loyal and faithful sevant to the club as a player and working under several managers.”

You know what, you could kind of get away with removing Terry Mac from that sentence and putting Alan Smith there lol

  • 52 The Entertainers // Sep 8, 2008 at 12:01

Regarding Terry Mac i think most fans will not see the work he puts in.

But Keegan, Dagliesh and Souness all wanted him around.

Anf for a club, where mud slinging is almost a national competion, Terrys name is whiter than white.

I’m sure the players appreicated his presence.

Just didnt understand your comments at a time like this. It easy be critical at the moment and i thought now was a time to be UNITED.

  • 53 Bill F Ash Didn't Splash :( // Sep 8, 2008 at 12:03

I think The Entertainers got it right, he was probably something of an unsung hero getting on with the job in the background. What we need here is any players from the Toon who comment on the blog to give us some insight a to what his role was.
I don’t know for certain but I would be surprised if he was just a make-weight given that he was usually on the bench for the big games.

  • 54 Spyro // Sep 8, 2008 at 12:03

all i did was ask a question

  • 55 BenjToon // Sep 8, 2008 at 12:03

No Spyro you couldn’t put Smith there. He’s only been with us a season and a bit. Terry Mac has been around doing something (just not sure how big a something) for several decades.

That level of commitment and contnuity must count for something. He was liked by several managers and he certainly has the respect of the players. We need people like that.

Smith is just a first team player who gives a lot of energy in training. Not in the same category. Although I appreciate the joke!

  • 56 The Entertainers // Sep 8, 2008 at 12:04

I see NUFC.CO.UK have just updated there news reel…….

Hold it there folkes, you didnt think it would have anything to do with Terry Mac leaving / sacked did you.

Bloody hell no! Its for goal of the month, far more important than the clubs current affairs!

  • 57 Marty // Sep 8, 2008 at 12:04

Not fussed about TERRY MAC as he didn`t do anything anyway.
Sadler was a good coach so that was a stupid move by the club once again.
Are we gonna have any good news before the end of the year?????????

  • 58 Nicholas // Sep 8, 2008 at 12:05

What the hell is this American doing in Newcastle? He is just a businessman with no passion for the club. Go spend your money elsewhere. Yes, NUFC is a company, but it is also a club with passion and history. You can’t treat NUFC like another of your business plans, Mike Ashley. You have lost your dignity here. Just sell the club to someone who has better passion and concern for the club. We don’t need you at all.

  • 59 Angryman the Angry Fan // Sep 8, 2008 at 12:06

If he does appoint a new Boss, why support him? He will be a yes man, regardless of whther the team he has is good or not, the players brought in are good or not, he will be a yes man, to Fat CASHLEY and Bonk eyed Wise.

We dont need a yes man, we need a Manager to be strong, to be able to sign players he wants to sign, sell players he wants to sell, the Manager will be in charge of tactics, its like, oh we are down to 1 fit striker all have longtern injuries, then Bonk eyed Wise goes out and signs a Jaap Stam, there you go Manager, I signed you a player………..#

Not the way to run my club I’m afraid.

PS. Ignacio Gonzalez can’t even get into a second rate Uruguayan team……….

But he is Gus Poyets Mate ;-)

darkstar- i’ve mentioned in previous posts that yes Ma and co. have contradicted themselves and it’s fair to comment on this, like i said they’ve made mistakes, but wild emotions and believing every bit of bull shit you read has caused most to lose track of reality on all this i feel.

were all intitled to our opinions, and this is mine. am i thick?? no, i don’t believe all the bullshit that others do.

    Ohemlads? intelligent post, very clever.

  • 63 keltik // Sep 8, 2008 at 12:16

i think one of the first posts summed this whol episode up.

this is currently the TITANIC episode for our club, in my opinion Ashley is the captain of the ship and we are the people on board, we are all shouting ‘ICEBERG’ at him, trying our hardest to make him realise he has made a wrong turn but he is either too stubborn or ignorant to change course and is driving us full speed into an iceberg.

only time will tell if he aviods capsizing our football club.

Ashley is NOT GOING TO APPOINT A MANAGER his muppets are going to bring in a coach.
Any so called supporter who isn’t bothered about Terry Mac being sacked is a bloody disgrace.
I can just see Ashley swilling back champagne and laughing at us lot, he will be thinking we are a bunch of spineless idiots.
I bet 95% of the supporters are still sitting in their/sorry Ashley’s seats in February.
Fan power, more like fan whimper.
    Sad isn’t it!

  • 68 faustino // Sep 8, 2008 at 12:39

The long and short of the whole situation is that the current administration is overseeing a systematic destruction of what, 4 weeks ago, looked to be a great coaching staff and solid structure for the future. All to defend the rights of two vastly under qualfied men and their ability to oversee tansfers.

Form a hypothetical stand-point, this would make sense if Jimenez and Wise had done amazing work in the transfer market and we had a jealous coaching staff whingeing from an ego point of view. The sad fact is though, that if we do have a transfer department AND a coaching staff we’ve ended up getting rid of the staff who were actually doing their job and keeping the one’s who don’t!!!

If what ive read is true, Ashely would never be dumb enough to make these simple mistakes in his other businesses so why is he doing just that at SJP!?!!

  • 69 Sydney Toon // Sep 8, 2008 at 12:44

The saga continues..however, the dust will settle soon.

I am very curious to understand what our reactions will be when the new manager does come in. Yes, he will be Wise’s & Ashley’s choice, and therefore tarred by association, but will we support him & the team.

Or do we continue to campaign (and complain) until Ashley has gone (which will happen, though maybe in a year from now)?

  • 70 Sydney Toon // Sep 8, 2008 at 12:45

(following on my prior mail) …esp. if the manager is Zola, who I guess most of us admire presently

  • 71 Davies // Sep 8, 2008 at 12:45

I’m getting more and more discincerted by the systematic dismantling of our club.

Did any of you see this coming three weeks ago?

Three weeks ago I thought we looked like a team bound for a European spot.

Funny old world innit. Whatever you might know or not know about Terry Mac, his dismissal signals an almost certain end to Managed football at St James’ Park.

I sincerely hope that somebody with a lot of cash steps in soon.

  • 74 valle // Sep 8, 2008 at 13:53

Ed my man… The third solution is a childs daydream and i hope you know that you might as well delete that one and conclude that MA has TWO options… Over and out

  • 75 Matthew Tom // Sep 8, 2008 at 15:48

This is not going to be a popular opinion, but in my opinion Wise has done a pretty good job in the area for which he was SUPPOSED to have responsibility, which was young players.

We’ve brought in Zamblera, Spear, Kadar, Tozer, Baheng and that young goalie from Sweden, all of whom are generally regarded as very good prospects.

Now don’t get me wrong, he is still a cockeyed cockney cock and I will always hate him, but I think the real damage that was done with Keegan was due to that muppet Llambias.

  • 76 Whumpie // Sep 8, 2008 at 17:22

Matthew Tom - well said! I can’t stand Wise either but either he, Jimenez or both have actually done ok when they stuck to their remit. Shame that massive, “short-man” ego of his wouldn’t let him just get on with that and keep to the deal.

Llambias seems to be escaping all the vitriol on this one despite being the day-to-day man in charge at NUFC during the whole debarcle. If you consider the difference between Chris Mort and anyone who is more used to running casinos, this whole cock-up gets a lot less surprising.

  • 77 Whumpie // Sep 8, 2008 at 17:25

Oh, and in response to Ed’s question: I think we’ll get option 1, followed by a continued downward spiral (with half the squad putting in transfer requests) followed by an attempt option 2 at the point where it’s probably too late.

    Sorry to be pessimistic.

The only chance for jumping straight to option 2 is if we make enough stink on Saturday (INCLUDING A ONE-MATCH BOYCOTT) that Ashley wakes up and realises the game is up.

  • 78 Momo // Sep 8, 2008 at 17:38

As far as i know i think i know what MA will do. Appoint a manager then sell the club as that manager will have to stay and the new owner would not sack him because he wouldnt want to pay his compensation. MA is not as stupid as people think but this is what im guessing will happen so do not believe me when reading this

Spyro - you haven’t a clue what you are talking about.

Terry Mac has been the buffer between the players and the manager first and foremost. He can be seen keeping the players spirits up and getting them mentally prepared for games. He has taken part in every coaching session working with creative players. He is the club joker and keeps everyone’s feet on the ground. I saw him play for us in the 70s and watched his return with Keegan in the early 80s. He came back to the club he loves with KK as his right hand man and also worked under Dalglish, Souness and beyond up to today.

If whatever job he has been doing has not been important he simply wouldn’t have been there. You do not have to have a title to do a great job. He is a scouser but is NUFC through and through and it is extremely sad that he is gone.

What is your job title? Chief Tosser?

There is absolutely no way on earth that ANY MANAGER WORTH HIS SALT will touch the vacant managers job with a barge-pole with these arse clowns in charge. By all means have a director of football to ease the managers work load by looking after negotiations, paper work and all the other unpleasantries, but the first team manager has got to have the final say on all first team matters, including transfers in and out . It just won’t work any other way. This is something Dennis Wise pointed out just after his appointment… what changed??

Ultimately the manager will be judged on performances on the field. He will lose or keep his job based on success or failure and as such he simply must have the freedom to recruit of his own generals and troops.

If Keegan was still in charge and Newcastle were relegated, would Wise be sacked for bringing in shite players? Not a chance.

Just one more thing… Llambias is a complete tool. How can anyone keep their job after letting what should’ve been a routine ‘keep the peace’ exercise degenerate into the mess we have today? Ashley is fond of stating Newcastle is a business but is happy to let the Managing Director push the club towards a potentially very awkward financial situation, with the threat of NUFC merchandise and ticket sales boycotts. Maybe he thinks it will just blow over?

  • 81 Lew Davies // Sep 8, 2008 at 19:42

Well surprised, that no one has mentioned this yet, but we now have a spud as coach. Probably will be made permanent after the Hull game.

  • 82 Punk Skunk // Sep 8, 2008 at 19:52

Well Lew, he’s at NUFC now, so that means he’s a spud no longer…Know what y’mean tho’…
…But, i can’t see him staying in charge, can you?..

  • 83 Lew Davies // Sep 8, 2008 at 20:31

to be honest Punk Skunk, I really dont know where we go from here.
It looks like MA is quite prepared to lamely go on as if nothing has happened, full in the knowledge that the fans will soon get over it and come flooding back in through the gates.
This seems the likely scenario , as there is no real organised protest to speak of, and if we stay away from the ground, then we are seen to not be supporting the players.
I hate that this has happened to our club.
I hate the the site of that grinning fat twat. What a complete and utter tool.
I really hope he sells up, because he aint welcome here anymore.
I dont care if he was well intentioned from the start, “RESCUING” us from bankruptcy blah blah blah! He has turned OUR club into a shambles, a laughing stock and it has made me sooo angry.
I cant see many other managers/coaches lining up for the job at the moment, so yes I think CH will probably be in the seat for a while at least.
A little puppet for Dennis the menace to play with.
    What are you doing sat?

  • 84 geordiegeorge // Sep 8, 2008 at 20:34

Newcastle United does not belong to Mike Ashley or his Cronie hangers on .

It belongs to the people who pay every bodies wages through season tickets or the turnstiles
    Thats mostly us Geordies .

Our ancestors had to deal with a massive Roman Army led by Emperor Hadrian and they told him what to do after he had taken over all of England before he arrived on Tyneside .

If you need to check this out there is a Museum at Wallsend and the remainder of a wall stretching from Wallsend to
    Carlisle .

Lets send Ashley and his hangers on back to where they belong .

Because we are genuine people and that is the reason we stand with Kevan Keegan .

Lets get this shit out of our club and Keegan back

  • 85 toonster // Sep 8, 2008 at 20:38

What has Wise offered to Ashley that made Ashley trust him so much??

  • 86 toonster // Sep 8, 2008 at 20:42

No matter what.. next match against Hull is a must win!!! get that off the way and we can look forward..

  • 87 Punk Skunk // Sep 8, 2008 at 21:38

    Lew,
    i’m gutted mate!..
…Fu*k knows what’s gonna happen next!..
…I just can’t see him selling up, just like that, unfortunately!..
…I’m totally at a loss…Other than to say: i think the best course of action has gotta be against his business outside of Newcastle Utd…’cos the last thing we need is us destroying our club to spite our face!..& we must support our team…Boycotting merch & match day sundries, drinks etc has to be the way to go, for now, until a proper course of action can be totally worked out!..The team need us & we need the team…
…But we don’t need to be lining his pockets outside of that!..The important thing is not allowing the players to feel like we’ve up & left them in the do-do…They need to know that playing for Newcastle is an amazing reason to play football & our backing is forever…It’s not their fault that this has happened…&i’m more gutted for them, than for myself!..
    …Ho’way NEWCASTLE UNITED FOOTBALL TEAM!..
…Knackers to the owners other businesses!..

I Havn’t Got Any Of That “Inside” Information , But I Been Hearing A Few Storys That A Group From Quatar Worth £400 Billion Came In With A £250 Million Bid In For Us , It Was Rejected , They Are Upping Their Offer For Tomorrow , If That Is Rejected , They Are Going To Buy Everton. Just Saying What I Have Heard , So Dont Have A Go If It Isn’t True.

cant understand why everyone says keegan couldnt do his job without having control of transfers.does anybody thinbk that the managers do this at barca, real madrid or ac milan.NO.usually it is a sporting director.keegan didnt pick colo, jonas or guthrie.he probably never even heard of them.when has he had time to scout players of great talent that can be brought in cheaper than .henry and beckham.keegan spat it because milner wasnt replaced with sweinsteiger, but that wasnt ashleys fault .the german didnt fancy it.FACT ASHLEY/WISE LIED.FACT KEEGAN QUIT ON US.he still had a great team to work with that cuold get top six .everyone should calm down ,stop playing to the medias hands as they know we always do and get on with the new system, new coach and new ideas.just like the fans at really big clubs like madrid and milan.
    regards.

It appears obvious to me that MA wants to rid the club of everything that KK stood for. Thats basically asking all us fans to go. Lets make this march count.

  • 93 charlo // Sep 9, 2008 at 1:35

Just got to post about terry Mac after reading some of the post above.

Terry mac has been a longtime servant to the club and as so deserves a certain amount of respect, but to be truthful he is little more than a bookies runner for the players. He has very little to offer the club in a technical capacity and once keegan left he was a certainty to go.My opinion is he has been very lucky to have spent so many years at a club like ours coz he wouldnt get a job at any other club.He has made a nice few quid from us over the last 10-12 years and i wave him goodbye with a smile on my face as he is not the quality of person we need to take us forward.

  • 94 Cuse // Sep 9, 2008 at 10:12

Here’s a bet. 2-1, anyone’s welcome. We appoint Poyet. Poyet has a good 1st half-season, gets us to 8th. Wise signs 2 players in Jan of decent repute - a left back and creative midfielder. We have a half-decent cup run, end the season 7th. All the “real fans” on the blog suddenly forget that we had this little bit of bother about KK round about Feb time. Problem over. I’m bored of the endless vitriol directed towards Ashley. He’s a prize tool, but he’s our prize tool and will be for the forseeable future. Get used to it.
