Chris Hughton – Players Focused For Saturday

It looks like both Jose Enrique, who has a hamstring injury and Jonas Gutierrez will miss the game against Hull City on Saturday, a game we must win.

Chris Hughton – will have players ready for Hull game

Jose Enrique picked up a hamstring injury against Arsenal and he will be out for a couple of weeks still.

Chris Hughton, who has taken over the first team in tandem with Richard Money said today:

“As far as training is concerned this week the players have been very professional. There is a lot of experience in the squad, and in the circumstances the training has been very good.”

“They have been in football long enough to accept that things have to continue and you make sure you focus on getting ready for the next game and try to win it.

“We appreciate that things may be difficult for the fans at the moment, but one thing Newcastle fans are renowned for is their support of the team and this is what they will give the players on Saturday.”

We’re not sure what the team will be on Saturday, but in their last game Hull were hammered at home 5-0 by Wigan, so there’s a good chance we can get a good win on Saturday. If Keegan was still here, we could have even looked forward to hammering Hull, which may still happen of course.

And we know the fans will give Chris and Richard Money, as well as all the players of course, their full support for the game. It’s the club the fans are against, not the team, the players or the coaches.

Comments welcome.

Disappointed Jonas probably isn’t going to feature, but i still think a good performance will see us take the 3 points.

‘Jose Enrique picked up a hamstring injury’ .

Mr Wise, didn’t Kev ask you to get a left back? Did you deliver?

You couldn’t trust him to run a whelk stall let alone have responsibilty for the success of a football club and the satisfaction of its 50000+ paying customers!

Time to go I think, you’ve long overstayed your welcome ….. by about nine months!

Oh, and take your pals with you!!

If Hughton is supposed to be in charge for the next 3 weeks, then I reckon Ashley has one eye on selling up!

    Guthrie-Nacho-Butt- N’Zogbia
    Owen-Xisco

    or

    Given
    Beye-Coloccini-Tayl0r-Bassong
    Geremi-Guthrie-Butt- N’Zogbia
    Owen-Xisco

    or

    Given
    Beye-Coloccini-Tayl0r-Bassong
    Geremi-Nacho-Guthrie- N’Zogbia
    Owen-Xisco

If Enrique is missing, Bassong will probably play at left back. Lets see your team predictions ladies and gentlemen!!

    Given
    Beye, Coloccini, Taylor, Bassong
    Guthrie, Butt, N’Zogbia
    Nacho
    Xisco, Owen

Like to see Nacho play the role Owen did at the end of last season, and let Owen play off of Xisco up front. With Jonas being injured, as well as Duff and Lua Lua, I’d rather go 4-3-3 then 4-4-2 with Geremi playing right wing!!

Subs: Harper, Cacapa, Geremi, Smith, Ranger, Edgar, Donaldson

Is Martins fit yet? He was called up by Nigeria wasn’t he? If so I’d bench him and give him 20 mins.

Given was suspected injured at the weekend, but played yesterday for RoI.

Can Nacho play right wing? If push came to shove, we could play Edgar at right back and play Beye right wing perhaps? Emergency option only mind!

Tom the predicted team i posted on here for the game against Hull was exactly the same as yours minus jonas (as i didnt realise he was injured). I would have had guthrie on his own in the middle (Barton if it were possible) with Butt on the bench…
It’d be risky starting both the new boys but they sound like quality footballers who may rise well to the pressure….i’d play nacho behind xisco and owen as well cos he could potentially play the role rooney played for england last night.. also with xisco’s (supposed) pace and height combined with owen’s pace and all round finishing quality, they could be a threatening pair…atleast capable of giving Hull’s back four a good run around…

i dont think hughton is a defencive style coach, yes he was a defender but he isnt anymore, it was just what he was good at

example: who is to say shearer will be an attacking coach, could be a defencive style coach, we dont know because he hasnt tested himself and his ‘techniques’ AS A MANAGER i mean

i hope this is the lineup…

    given
    beye colocinni taylor bassong
    nacho guthrie butt nzogbia
    owen martins/xisco

martins depends if he is fit otherwise you guessed it…

depressing as it is hull could get something out of this game.
i can see this being similar to the bolton game, big physical team etc 10 men behind the ball etc, newcastle not having enough creativity about them to break them sorry.

Colocino has played 2 difficult games in South America this last week returning to Blighty sometime tonight/tomorrow. I don’t expect him to start so select the following team:

    —————————-Given———————-

    Beye—–Cacapa———–Taylor——Bassong

    ———————-——Butt—————————

    ———-Guthrie–— Nacho—-NZogbia———–

    ——————Owen———-Xisco——————

On the bench; Harper, Colocino, Edgar, Ranger, Smith, Geremi (if fit), Martins (if fit) maybe Donaldson (for Martins)
