It has been confirmed tonight that Mike Ashley did in fact meet with Kevin Keegan tonight in London, but the bad news for Newcastle fans, is that an agreement could not be reached between them.
Mike Ashley – failed to reach satisfactory conclusion tonight with Keegan
Setanta Sports is reporting that the League Manager’s Association (LMA), presumably on behalf of Kevin Keegan has said the meeting between Mike Ashley and Kevin Keegan, which took place in a London Hotel tonight, did in fact take place but “a satisfactory conclusion couldn’t be reached.”
The LMA statement was as follows:
The League Managers Association can confirm that talks to resolve several issues were held today between Kevin Keegan and Mike Ashley of Newcastle United Football Club.
However, the discussion failed to reach a satisfactory conclusion.
This will come as bad news for Newcastle fans, and we don’t know if there will be any more talks, but at some point things have to be moved forward.
We now fully expect the Newcastle fan demonstrations tomorrow to continue against Mike Ashley and the Newcastle Board, and it seems like the club again comes off second best.
Our advice to Mike would be to work it out with Kevin, and the sooner it happens, the better for everyone concerned.
And a little advice – put the Newcastle United Club, and its future, at the top of the list.
