Hughton Vows To Pick Up Players’ Spirits

Chris Hughton must have been disappointed with the performance today from his Newcastle players, but he has vowed to rally his Newcastle United troops, starting Monday.

Chris Hughton – stand-in coach disappointed with display

This is what Chris said, after a below-par performance from the team today:

“All we can do as a group of coaches and players is get on with what the situation is and work around it the best way we can,” “One thing that the players always have is a training ground environment. They come to work every day and one thing that will never change in the game is that players want to enjoy training.”

“They know what the week is like building up to the game. They are going to be preparing for the game and all they can do is focus themselves on that.”

“At this particular moment my thoughts are, on Monday to try and pick up this squad of players, to recover and start preparing for the next game.” “Whether that will be me or somebody else at this moment, I don’t know.”

It didn’t look like the players this afternoon were even fully concentrating on the game, but if we could have put away some of their early chances, like the one young Guthrie had after 16 minutes things could (and should) have been a lot different.

But this is 3 points lost to a poor side and at home too, and if we cannot do better than this effort in the future, any hopes of a top 6 finish will be over by Christmas, if we are to be realistic.

But we’ll need to get over this poor performance, and look forward to our next game which is much more difficult task, at Upton Park next Saturday against West Ham United.

Whether we’ll have a new manager in by then, we have no idea, but the club needs to get itself sorted out, the quicker the better.

Top 6 was never realistic. Villa, City, Everton, Portsmouth and Spurs are all better than us.

51 times… well, that’s all right then, we can still finish 6th, even if those 5 are better than us…

We just need to be better than Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea 🙂

Wise out! Ashley out! etc etc

I felt sick today and for the first time ever I didn’t feel like celebrating when we scored. I clapped but no one around me bothered getting out of their seats. Everyone seemed so deflated.

It must have been an impossible task to get the players focused and once we went down that was almost it!

I’m proud of those that protested and marched. Not pleased about the attendance. We need a boycott. Not proud of the people carrying sports direct bags. You should be ashamed. I am 200% B&W but we need to make a stand. Geordies will always follow NUFC in their numbers and lets face it if we have to go down to get rid of these southern idiots so be it. The fans will always make sure the support is their to come back up! Football is going through a bad period in general, what with the money. The avg fan can’t afford it. We should stand up for the national sport as a unit and make sure the Premier league here us! 1 voice – GEORDIE! We will show the way forward to the French inbreads sooth of the Waaal.

this is the hughton so many ppl didn’t like cuz he wz supposedly brought in behind kk’s back

when kk run off and deserted us..and along with him terry m’dermot and co…who’s been left to bail us out?

though we lost today…on the day i cant fault him much…

and he’s rounding off wit some good statements that will go a long way to build up player confidence in the club…

    kudos coach….

we shall defintitely ride this storm and come out stronger

Still can’t get over the fact that he chose to play N’Zogbia at left back over Bassong, which meant N’Zogbia couldn’t be an attacking influence up front!!!!

Dont you know that Shola would of been in the last England squad instead of Heskey, but he has split ends and couldnt play

Why was Zog at LB when Bassong can play there.

    He played:

    Given
    Edgar-Colo-Taylor-Zog
    Geremi-Butt-Guthrie
    Owen-Ameobi-Xisco

    When it should have been:

    Given
    Geremi-Colo-Taylor-Bassong
    Guthrie-Butt-Nacho-Zog
    Owen- Xisco

Not to mention Ameobi shouldn’t have even been on the bench.

Neither SHOLA;GEREMI OR BUTT should have been on the field today.
Nacho and bassong could have started and NZOG could have been on the wing.
He was our best chance of creating today alnog with Guthrie.

I don’t blame Ashely, I don’t blame Wise, I don’t blame Llambis, I don’t blame Keegan, I don’t blame Hughton, I blame Ameobi. What the F was he doing on the pitch? Think about it, for the 60 mins he was on we conceded 2 goals and for the 30 mins he was off we scored one. It’s all his fault.

If he had any sense Ameobi wouldn’t have been playing at all and Nacho should has started.

Jude, you are running in circles on this one mate.
