Newcastle vs Hull – Xisco Handed Debut

22 year-old new boy Xisco is given his debut this afternoon, by caretaker manager Chris Hughton, for the visit of Hull City to St. James’ Park this afternoon.
Newcastle will start in an attacking formation with 3 up front, and Shola Ameobi joins Michael Owen up front, after a poor game at Arsenal.

Geremi as expected, returns from injury and takes his place in right midfield alongside Nicky Butt and Danny Guthrie.

But Charles N’Zogbia surprisingly reverts to left-back, instead of Seb Bassong,  with David Edgar also coming in for the injured Habib Beye at right back. Habib is still troubled with an Achilles injury.

Uruguayan one season loan signing Nacho Gonzalez is named among the substitutes.

TEAMS

Newcastle United: Shay Given, David Edgar, Charles N’Zogbia, Fabricio Coloccini, Steven Taylor, Danny Guthrie, Nicky Butt, Geremi, Shola Ameobi, Michael Owen (c), Xisco

    2 facts:

    1. Ameobi; does nobody in NUFC see that he is r*bbish.
    2. It is frightening if you see our bench; 2 experienced lads the rest all youngsters. I know we have got a few injuries, but our squad is so thin.

Here’s hoping for some sense on the pitch after all the nonsense we have had to endure these past two weeks.

Only hope you;re right there mate; Director of Football – it’s a non-role. Get rid of Wise and cohorts Cashley, the Geordie nation has spoken, might be an idea to listen.

It’s not a business, it’s more important than that.

Enrique is still injured, Bassong should play LB and Geremi should play RB. There is no need for Edgar to feature.

    ——————–Given——————-

    Edgar——Taylor—-Colo—–Bassong

    Geremi—–Guthrie—Butt——-Zoggy

    ———–Owen———Xisco————-

    would have been better IMO

    Thanks Steve.

Well, I’m sick and nervous. Want the lads to win, of course.

    Want the board sacked…

    want a new owner… namely US–THE FANS.

But on game day, it’s hard to think of much else…

Yeah I feel kinda sick too, nervous tension, been looking forward to it all week but just hope we can do them today, give the new signings a taste of things to come.

Interesting to see Cashley willing to continue talking to King Kev too – I’m guessing this is not over yet as I’ve not heard the fat lady singing.

    No doubt spyro!

Ameobi is SH*T, i hope he proves me wrong. Very attacking, too concentrated in the middle, no width at all. I think its a very bad choice. Granted we can still win, but it has been made tougher.

There is absolutely no reason why Ameobi should ever play for us again, he has proved time and time again that he is not good enough at Premier League level. For gods sake play a youngster instead.
