Tim Krul To Start For Newcastle Reserves Tomorrow Night

September 16th, 2008 · 42 Comments

Newcastle’s outstanding young goalkeeper, 20 year-old Tim Krul will make his first competitive appearance for Newcastle United in nearly two seasons, when he turns out for the Reserves at Bolton on Wednesday evening.

Tim Krul - starts for Reserves tomorrow night

The young Dutchman has made only one senior appearance for Newcastle, but was the star man when he helped Newcastle to a famous 1-0 win against Palermo in the EUFA Cup in November, 2006.

Krul spent most of last season on loan at SPL side Falkirk, where he got some rave reviews, before injuring his shoulder last February when saving a penalty in a Scottish Cup tie against Aberdeen, which put him out for the rest of the season.

Tim got the full backing of the Newcastle fans, when he pointed out late in the summer transfer window, that he loved Newcastle United, and had no intention of leaving. It’s nice to hear that from our players, especially in these very dangerous times for the club.

Richard Money will be in charge of the side, after the club dismissed both Terry McDermott and Adam Sadler from the club just over a week ago.

Richard and Chris Hughton are in a very tough situation right now, but we’re sure they are doing their level best to keep the club ticking along, and at the same trying to raise the spirits of the squad.

Also included in the young Newcastle starting line-up are Ryan Donaldson, Mark Doninger and Frank Wiafe Danquah, who were all unused substitutes during Saturday’s terrible 2-1 defeat against Hull City.

17 year-old Nile Ranger, signed in the summer from Southampton is also included in the side, and the young forward looks to be one for the future.

The Newcastle United reserves will line up as follows, for tomorrow’s game, which has a 7:00 pm kick-off and is at the County Ground, home of the Lancashire FA in Leyland.

Tim Krul, James Marwood, Darren Lough, Mark Doninger, Matthew Grieve, Ben Tozer, Jonny Godsmark, Ryan Donaldson, Nile Ranger, Frank Wiafe Danquah, Shane Ferguson
Subs: James Taylor, Max Johnson, Kieran Wrightson, Stewart Bath, Patrick McLaughlin

We’ll have a report of the game tomorrow night.

Comments welcome.

It was reported that MA and co were mulling over a 2M pound offer only to decide right at the end of the window that the price wasn’t high enough…whatever can be said about MA and co they certainly made some shrewd moves in the TM. Glad they came to their sense over Krul as he is worth closer to 10M.

Still no Kadar then? : ( I’d hoped he would be back so we could put him on the bench for saturday, lua lua too.

Also, a team with Jonny Godsmark, Ryan Donaldson, Nile Ranger and Frank Wiafe Danquah? Isn’t that 4 forwards?

Incidentally, what happened to the trialists we had on trial over the summer? I assume they weren’t kept on, but we haven’t heard about them being released or anything!

well it looks like ashley will have the club sold to a dubai investor in the next week and a half but if that is the case they do not want keegan in as next manager but want Fatih Terim who will demand full control of transfers and will be in charge, probably, for the midweek clash against Spurs

Tom - I thought Godsmark was a winger and Danquah and Donaldson CAN both play in midfield.

  • 33 Brave New Toon // Sep 16, 2008 at 18:53

    480 million!!
Crazy.. i know it’s just reports.. but if Ashly really is attemping to double his money as a reward for the shamble he’s created,.. that really is unbeleivable.
Especially as all he did was moan about the price he bought at

  • 34 hitman // Sep 16, 2008 at 18:55

brave new toon, ashley put in a high asking price, but it will be haggled doon,he will probily walk away with 300 mill,480 mill the glazers never paid that for manu i dont think.

  • 35 The Entertainers // Sep 16, 2008 at 18:56

theres no way anyone will pay almost half a billion for the toon

  • 36 beyethegreat // Sep 16, 2008 at 18:59

hitman david craig said that in dubai they dont haggle they give a price and then its up to ashley to take it or leave it

  • 37 beyethegreat // Sep 16, 2008 at 19:00

geordie wannabe isnt that him from 2 pints

  • 38 Brave New Toon // Sep 16, 2008 at 19:01

Well i hope so.. I’ want him to sell asap.. but would hate it if he made a massive profit out of us.

What about the board? wise, Jimenez, lambias etc..? do they keep their jobs?
or, will they be ditched and
Will the new board be made up of reps from this investment group?
or will they select a new board and chairman from england (Newcastle!)

Little tip;you don`t need to write your name twice in each post as we can see it`s you with your name above.Marty
No journalists do that on their passages.

  • 40 Murph // Sep 16, 2008 at 23:34

Surely if Ashley wanted to be profitable about this, from purely a business point of view, then sacking Wise, Jiminez and Llambias and bringing back Keegan would attract more buyers than the current farce we are in. I begin to wonder if there is anything in that fat skull of his…

  • 41 Paul // Sep 17, 2008 at 1:02

Hitman, Man U was about £800 million for the Glazers, but they put it in debt up to the eyeballs.

  • 42 raamsoon // Sep 17, 2008 at 3:49

so that’s right that we don’t get young Arron Spear, isn’t it? Because i don’t hear about of him. and in the reserve team he is not there.
