Newcastle United will shortly be forced to make a decision on whether to appoint an interim coach, to get the team through until a new owner can be found for the club.
Alan Curbishley – one of two names being mentioned
That’s the poor position the club finds itself in, and best way we can describe it is the club are currently like a ship adrift in the ocean.
There is no leadership at the club from the Board, and not too much being shown at the coaching level, and that’s because we are so short of coaches right now, because Keegan and two coaches, Terry McDermott and Adam Sadler have left the club within the last few weeks.
Two experienced managers available are Alan Curbishley and David O’ Leary, but it’s hard to see why either of them would want the job in the short term, since when a new owner comes in, they will want their own manager in charge.
These are two names being mentioned because they are associated with Derek Llambias, the Managing Director at the club, who has been little short of a complete disaster, since taking over from the capable Chris Mort.
It will all depend on whether Newcastle can find a quick buyer for the club, but with Ashley seemingly wanting a big profit from the deal, an early buyer would seem to be very improbable, at best.
It’s just amazing that we’ve got ourselves into this mess at the club – surely doing everything possible to get Kevin in charge again, would have been the right thing to do rather than this – where the club is in very serious trouble.
Why that didn’t happen still amazes us, but like some of our readers have suggested, maybe we are just in total denial about Kevin.
Oh well, with things this bad, it can only get better – but that’s just an assumption.
