Newcastle May Need To Appoint Interim Manager

Newcastle United will shortly be forced to make a decision on whether to appoint an interim coach, to get the team through until a new owner can be found for the club.

Alan Curbishley – one of two names being mentioned

That’s the poor position the club finds itself in, and best way we can describe it is the club are currently like a ship adrift in the ocean.

There is no leadership at the club from the Board, and not too much being shown at the coaching level, and that’s because we are so short of coaches right now, because Keegan and two coaches, Terry McDermott and Adam Sadler have left the club within the last few weeks.

Two experienced managers available are Alan Curbishley and David O’ Leary, but it’s hard to see why either of them would want the job in the short term, since when a new owner comes in, they will want their own manager in charge.

These are two names being mentioned because they are associated with Derek Llambias, the Managing Director at the club, who has been little short of a complete disaster, since taking over from the capable Chris Mort.

It will all depend on whether Newcastle can find a quick buyer for the club, but with Ashley seemingly wanting a big profit from the deal, an early buyer would seem to be very improbable, at best.

It’s just amazing that we’ve got ourselves into this mess at the club – surely doing everything possible to get Kevin in charge again, would have been the right thing to do rather than this – where the club is in very serious trouble.

Why that didn’t happen still amazes us, but like some of our readers have suggested, maybe we are just in total denial about Kevin.

Oh well, with things this bad, it can only get better –  but that’s just an assumption.

Comments welcome.

Like it or not ..Dennis Wise might be our best option at the moment to take temporary charge of the team management/coaching .. all conspiracy theories aside there needs to be some form of compromise between club & fans otherwise we’ll be in serious trouble .. no external manager will come into this .. so let’s not cut of our noses, we need structure and points .. everything else should take a back seat.

We don’t have anyone on the staff (including Wise) with a pro-license which will have to be sorted soon.
You never know we could bring in Neil Mc Donald, Warren Barton, Steve Round, John Carver or Paul Bracewell? They’re all qualified.
They can’t keep going without any coaches though – Wise seriously may have to start earning his money

Anyone taking the managers job at the moment would have to be mental.

    No say on players in/out
Out of a job as soon as Ashley sells
Wise and Llambias telling you who to pick to play
Fans on your back all the time
Players won’t give a t0ss as they know you’re out of a job soon

This is pathetic – what is Llambias doing to earn his wages!!!!!

Its a bloody mess isnt it – nothing of any substance is going to happen until the ownership of the club is settled – either a quick sale or it drifts on and stops being a news story. The latter is more likely, and just will be a complete disaster for NUFC – we will be halfway through the season and playing catchup to stay in the premier.

Ganiyu – shut the f**k up about Dennis Wise. Nobody likes the odious little man. If he wewre put in charge of Newcastle you would really see some protests and people would stay away from the ground – that my little friend is a fact.

Now run of back to your spurs blog site like a good little boy!

An interim manager will be a good idea, let the dust settle a bit.

No-one is rushing to buy, understandable really Ashley’s press regarding Sports Direct isnt going to make him a favourite for any investors, he cost the Sports Direct investors an absolute fortune and they arent impressed with the way he runs the business either with action groups etc against him. That wont make him an investors first choice.

Newcastle may just sit on the shelf until he sells us off at the clubs true worth.

Put Richard Money in charge for the time beeing, he has good management experience and did great with Walsall. He is our best option not Wise.

We need a baby sitter for a month or two. Somebody who does not want the job but has a little nous and has managed at some level before. Also has to understand the club and its current predicament. Somebody like Malcolm Macdonald or Bob Moncur may fit the bill

Curbishley = Mr Bland, average, mediocre, never won anything in a long time not to win anything + he bought all our sicknotes!!

O’Leary: one season wonder at leeds and lost it a long time ago, blaming everyone but himself. Huge ego based on very little actually achieved.

Ganiyu – you are entitled to your say but you must understand that your views on the manager situation are opposed by most NUFC fans, making it a rather pointless view to express. Most would not accept Wise, even as an interim appointment.

IF (big if) Ashley is serious about selling and can be trusted to do so before December, then I see no reason why KK should not repay fans by agreeing to manage again. The transfer window is shut so no problems re buying and selling. Most potential buyers seem to support KK’s return once the club is bought so this would also provide continuity. It would also prove KK’s committment to the Toon (not that I doubt it). If it wasn’t for that big if at the beginning…
