Newcastle Missing At Major Charity Function

News yesterday that Newcastle United embarrassed themselves by failing to send any big-name representatives to a Prince’s Trust charity dinner.

Newcastle failed to send one player, coach or member of the management staff turned to the Gateshead Hilton to help raise money for disadvantaged North East kids.

Middlesbrough and Sunderland, on the other hand, sent a strong selection of stars including the likes of Stewart Downing, David Wheater, Gareth Southgate, Anton Ferdinand and Craig Gordon.

An inside source at the club said:

“It was embarrassing. Every other club turned up in force with loads of players.”

This was reported in the local Newcastle papers yesterday, and is more evidence that the club has not got its act together, and probably wont until it’s sold to new owners.

The nightmare scenario for Newcastle supporters is that Mike Ashley will not be able to find a good buyer for the club in the short term, and then what will happen?

Your guess is as good as ours, if that should happen, but if this does drag out, you have to think that a new manager will need to be drafted in, during the short term.

Comments welcome.

rofl…..daft management….get out Ashley and lower the price of the Toon.

PS: did you guys see that Ashley prefered to drink Mojito’s in Dubai then meet with the potential buyers ??? He’s really starting to piss me off.

The really surprising thing about all of this is the mistakes have all been business mistakes, not mistakes on the pitch. Everything behind the scenes has been the source of trouble.

The last thing anyone would expect are business errors from a succesful businessman.

You can’t buy class. Ashley is a monkey, and a liar.

Best interests of NUFC at heart. Yeah right, he wants to make a massive profit.

Any moron can see that he should fire Wise etc…., bring back Kev and get some stability.

Can’t see it happening though as Mr Ashley doesn’t seem to know his Asset from his elbow.

ashley has already made himself look totally dishonest and is rapidly on the way to making himself look totally incompetent.

this image of ashley jimenez and wise trailing round the bars of dubai is making him look ridiculous -lets just hope he not wearing the club shirt

For a blog that goes on about how we should stand behind the team, and commenters who say we should get behind the team, it’s becoming a habit of posting stories and rumours that give the team a bad reputation without finding out the real story.

Honestly, we’ve had some problems but do you really think Newcastle United would just ignore something like this without reason?

    As for this inside source…

How some of you people can tear this club apart just off what you read in the media is beyond me.

I’m seeing a lot of the same names insulting the club for things like this (even though you don’t know the story behind it, if there is one) but can sit on another post and defend Guthrie for kicking and breaking a players leg. A lot of you saying “he deserved it”.

I am seriously ashamed lately of some of the Newcastle fans ignorance and stupidity. Aside from all this, everyone saying Mike Ashley wouldn’t be threatened in Newcastle or physically harmed, a lookalike was on TV last night telling of how some Newcastle fan lunged at him in a pub in Chester-le-Street.

Shame on the club, what is this doing to our standing in the area?

Begs the question why was Shearer’s role not renewed. He would have been a perfect role model and representative for the club, and I am sure loads of his ex team-mates would also have attended.

I would go along with your remark re the mugs on here. I have been flabbergasted that these guys are trying to blame us lot and KK for the state the club is in at the minute, whilst preaching that the sun shines out of a certain fat mans ample crevice!!

Lets face it, by their own admission, hardly any of them get to attend St James’ on a regular basis, so how on earth can they judge the feeling and condemn it up here in the TOON??

Christ you people need to stop reading the papers. Aren’t you sick of venting your spleens?

Don’t you have jobs, wives and lives to worry about.

I’m as sick as everybody else with the sorry state of affairs at Newcastle, but continual whinging about it won’t solve anything.

I haven’t been on here for a while, basically because I’m sick of the whole fiasco, so I would just like to say that it was really nice to see Xisco score on his debut. I hope he carries on scoring for us. I hope that Hughton can pull the lads together for the West Ham match and we can put on a better show than we did at the weekend.

Back the team, not the crap in the press.

Even though this is up to the usual standards of club PR, I would hope this is actually the end of the club being run like this.

If we assume there is no quick sale (which given the spectacular profit Ashley apparently wants – The Times quotes $860m based on offer papers it has seen), then things cannot be allowed to keep sliding and even Ashley will be aware of this.

If no sale has been made by, say, the end of September, then a manager will have to be appointed and and progress will have to made on the pitch. If no buyer appears before the end of December, then funds will have to be released for transfers, or the so called scouting team will have to do some work and bring in some players.

A relegated Newcastle will be worth far less than Ashley paid for the club, and he will realise this. Lack of players has become obvious already and the additions of Beye & Smith to the long term injury list makes that worse, and based on Saturday a relegation battle seems almost certain as things stand.

In short, the worse things get the more the price falls, and since Ashley is keen to make a spectacular profit, he’s going to have to start running the club properly.

By his mate I’m assuming you mean the Mike Ashley lookalike?

Cause I don’t care how much he’s playing on it, he’s been threatened at least twice. And one time a guy actually attacked him.

I’m not saying Mike Ashley is the perfect man or the perfect owner, I’m just saying that he wasn’t wrong about being vulnerable to violence. I’ve lived in Newcastle my entire life and there are some people in Newcastle who will beat you if you so much as look at them the wrong way. I’m not saying that as if I’m from some area of crime or anything, but I went to high school in Newcastle and I know it happens.

None of you can say that Mike Ashley could turn up at a Newcastle game and be 100% safe. It won’t happen, there’ll always be one person who thinks “Hey, I’ll be the guy that got Ashley!” and throw something at him.

I just think in the light of this whole situation with Keegan, the fans for the main part aren’t even giving the Newcastle board a chance to explain themselves, and while they’ve not been good enough at coming out and doing it, this story about the dinner came out last night and it’s 11.25am. None of us know if there might have been a reason behind it or not.

I’m pretty sure the club will want to avoid any sort of interview, because really, if the Newcastle players turned up last night to support the charity, the focus wouldn’t be on charity at all. It’d be on asking Shay Given whether he sent angry texts or something.

I’m just saying, we don’t know the story. And Newcastle fans are quick to jump on the OUR CLUB IS A DISGRACE bandwagon.

Keeping it in the context of the thread, I admit it’s probably all too easy for lads to get worked up and use it to beat themselves up about it and then vent more anger at Ashley and Co, when it’s been pointed out we don’t know the background but unfortunately that is the situation that’s been caused with the cloak and dagger routine. Mistrust and frustration. However, I also wouldn’t be surprised that the club has taken it’s eye of the ball under the circumstances and not asked for volunteers.

Ashley is not going to make a massive profit.
His goal is to sell NUFC as late as possible. The longer Club in turmoil the more chanse to be relegated. This is his revenge for humiliating publicity, fans mass-protests against him etc.

He made his Statement – …It will be long process…

Do not believe he is looking for buyers in Dubai- he is having fan with DW&TJ somewhere in Casino or nightclubs… The tag L481 is just a joke. This rediculous price is set to sell NUFC as late as possible…

    HOW LONG?

He said “.. It will be long process…”

    HOW WE CAN SURVIVE?

There is only one way to survive this uncertain period is to have The Real Lider into The Team who is able to unite All Players into one fist. Who is he -?Owen, ?Given, ?Other. I do not know… But Guys must not let NUFC slip down to Championatship due to bloody Cocney Mafia revenge… This is vital at this moment…

Do not trust any Caretakers who was appointed by MA&DW. The Players and fans must take over to control situation.

Completely agree with Xsisco. FUTURE OF THIS CLUB IS IN THE HANDS OF THE TEAM ONLY. We should not expect any help from anybody at least for the next couple months.

Be shure MA is not going help us in the nearest future. His goal is to relegate NUFC. No doubt about this.

Mike Ashley and Co are currently just toying with the club and can not be serious about selling otherwise they would be acting more professionally and would be open to realistic bids.

He’s made a token gesture which on face value has had the desired effect of gaining some compasion from the fans and will give him some breathing space from the media.

The only way to ensure that sells the club is to boycott a nominated game.

The club sponsors and players will be as frustrated by his antics as the fans are and will fully understand a boycott. They won’t be able to publically comment on it, however silently they will be praying that somebody takes drastic action to put and end to the current farce and turmoil which needsa to be addressed.

the longer it goes on the worse the damage will be in the long term.
