Oba Martins Back For Wednesday’s Carling Cup Tie

Newcastle United actually recieved some good news this morning from Caretaker boss Chris Hughton.

Oba Martins – ready to start Wednesday

The squad has been handed a major fitness boost ahead of Wednesday’s Carling Cup clash against Spurs,  with the good news that Oba Martins will be in the squad for the game.

We hope Oba starts the game, because we need his enthusiasm and all action style right now, when far too many of our players are feeling sorry for themselves. and just not producing.

The Nigerian International has been out of the team since being injured during last month’s 1-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers at St.James’ Park. Chris Hughton had in fact hoped the 23-year-old could play some part against West Ham on Saturday, but Martins wasn’t able to get enough practice in last week to be match ready.

Caretaker boss Chris Hughton told nufc.co.uk on Monday afternoon:

“We were hoping Oba would be involved for Saturday but the reality was that he wasn’t able to get in enough training,”

“But he will back in the squad for Wednesday and that is a huge boost.”

Martins of course was among the scorers when the two clubs last met at White Hart Lane in March, when Newcastle gave their best performance of the year, and their attacking play tore Spurs apart 4-1.

Nicky Butt, Geremi, Michael Owen and Martins himslef were all on target – oh the memories.

Same again on Wednesday please.    😀

Seymour Pierce are an investment bank and stockbrokers according to the web. How long is this all going to take. Has Ashley realised that he and Wise could not sell a pie outside St James? Or is it a ploy to fend off a Lagos Mafia?

What do you’s think about the offical statement?

Could this be the start of a takeover?

Why would this statement be nessary its not like their is going to be that many people interested that they have to give out a feckin 0800
    number?

Hitman I think Ashley has handed on responsibility for selling on NUFC to a London investment bank for a reason. I think MA is a bit out of his depth selling NUFC and has gone for professional expertise.

I hope its true, if we get the Nigerians on board, the original nigers we can stuff it up those smarmy, racial, anally retentive insular lot in the south of this country.
We want the next Peles’s here.

the league cup is a serious way to get into uefa cup and if we win that and qualify for europe we will attract serious players like spurs but we will turn ours into a quality team and a win wednesday will boost evryones confidence

One issue with the Nigerian bid – other than the fact its fronted by Chris Nathaniel, the man behin Rio World Cup Wind Ups – is the fact that they are struggling to get £350 million and are waiting for others to come forward with moneys – hardly sounds as if they are a money no object group.

I still think it may be a new type of Nigerian email scam :@

Appointing Seymour Pierce would be some good sign for knowing the seriousness (finally) of Mike Ashley selling the club for good. Anyone knows about/works for Seymour Pierce that could be shared here?

Nigerian company claims to have £350million – and is bidding to secure the remaining funding which would improve its chances of a successful takeover.

Sky Sports News chief news reporter Bryan Swanson has also learnt that one of the Nigerian consortium’s main aims would be to reappoint Kevin Keegan as manager.

Swanson has been told Keegan is a major part of their plans.
