Newcastle Closer To Appointing Interim Manager

It looks like Newcastle are getting closer to announcing an interim Newcastle manager, and there seems a good chance that one will be appointed before the Blackburn Rovers game on Saturday.

Terry Venables – now at 2-1 as Newcastle’s next permanent manager

Around 11:30 am  this morning Sky Sports is reporting that lot of bets from London came in for Terry Venables as the next permanent Newcastle manager. Terry was at 33-1 this morning but was then put as joint favorite with Kevin Keegan, as the next permanent manager of Newcastle.

The club needs stabilizing and the appointment of somebody experienced, who can come in and work with Chris Hughton with the first team, would be a very good thing to do right now. We need an experienced head coach in control.

We need to stabilize the club, and start getting some points in the league and Venables, as he did with Middlesbrough a few years ago, would be a great choice to do just that.

Other former managers mentioned include Dave Basset and David O’Leary but we wouldn’t be surprised if the Newcastle Board already have their interim manager ready to announce very shortly.

Of course if Newcastle appoint the manager and say it is an interim appointment the best would not be paid out, since the betting is for the next permanent manager of the club.

Of course if a manager did come in and started to get some good results he would then be in prime position to continue that job under the new owners. It would be a good challenge for Terry, and we hope he wants the challenge.

He’s certainly a great football coach, that’s for sure, even if he is another Cockney.   😀

I have been reading your blog for a while now without writing ,i dont agree with you about Tv ,he is not what newcastle need .If we are to get anywhere at all we need a pemanant manager not part time for the money. If fat lad is going to sell its pointless at the moment getting anyone in as they may not be wanted long term.
You do tend to state the obvious on here and most of its a load of bull to be honest .
I am an ardent fan but its the team that need to stand up and be counted whether we have a manager or not. They get paid to play and thats where blame should lie and not anywhere else. Its so easy to blame everything around them but look at the money they get ,I say stand up and be counted.

@ dan4 toon, simple answer to that is…..cause its all poo!! You think taking over a football club will happen over night?? Get a reality check mate, the first team badly needs stabalising and i suppose we could do a lot worse than Venables, but as a long term appointment??? God no!! Would hate it if Keegan came back, lets look forward man not back to 99!!!!

all these rumours of tiny crowds tonight, i realllly hope not.
we’ll get dumped miserably out the cup if its true i reckon. the players need to run out into a wall of noise tonight to let them know that even after the past few weeks we’re all behind them, they’ve got a good opportunity tonight like. howay the lads!

could do worse short term as he’s a good coach and he knows his stuff. this takeover can’t happen quickly enough for us IMO

anyone else notice how bad butt was last night?? he consistently gave the ball away and had absolutely no awareness of what went on around him. taylor should be dropped for that mistake, complete joke, total arrogance!! but his innevitable apology in todays chronicle will make up for it, wont it??

by the way – venables will likely come in on a short-term contract, probably a rolling month-to-month deal, or maybe even week-to-week depending how quickly we can ship those cockney pr1cks out the club, before they ruin us altogether
