Newcastle vs Blackburn: Teams – Xisco Starts

Newcastle United make one change from the team which was beaten 2-1 by Spurs in midweek with Xisco replacing the injured Oba Martins up front. This was the expected change with the rest of the team remaining unchanged, mainly becasue we have so many injuries.

22 year-old Spanish striker Xisco will partner Michael Owen in attack, the captain having scored his 4th goal of the season on Wednesday night.

17 year-old forward Nile Ranger, who was singed from Southampton in the summer, returns to the bench for the Magpies.

TEAMS

Newcastle United: Shay Given, Geremi, Sebastien Bassong, Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini, Nicky Butt, Damien Duff, Claudio Cacapa, Charles N’Zogbia, Michael Owen (c), Xisco
Subs: Steve Harper, Shola Ameobi, David Edgar, Ben Tozer, Mark Doninger, Ryan Donaldson, Nile Ranger

Blackburn Rovers Jason Brown, Stephen Warnock, Christopher Samba, Tugay, Ryan Nelsen (c), Brett Emerton, Roque Santa Cruz, Carlos Villanueva, Danny Simpson, Matt Derbyshire, Martin Olsson
Subs: Andre Ooijer, Morten Gamst Pedersen, Keith Andrews, Robbie Fowler, Keith Treacy, Jason Roberts, Alex Marrow

Referee: Steve Tanner
Attendance: tbc

agree about taylor, never really like him as a player. he’s the common link in all our weak defenses over the last few years and gives away far too many pens

We needed a lot more players than we signed in the summer, that was fatso and current eyeses fault.

Come January, we will have new owners (hopefully) and a new manager that will sort this mess out.

All this “we are going down” talk is a load of tripe.

We are not going down, the mackems are….! 🙂

Taylor starts as no one else with first team experience to replace him.

Keep the faith boys and hope the defence keep it together.

The boys will be on the pitch now warming up.

Im stuck at work but got century on the radio for the commentary with Pete and Bobby Moncur.

    COME ON TOON!

Why is Taylor starting? I really start to ask myself the question that his connection to the club is the only thing that keeps him in the team. He does not deserve to be in the team at all. He isn’t good enough.

If someone else made the mistakes he made in the last couple of weeks (not to mention those from the last seasons) he would not be a NUFC player anymore.

Cacapa an Butt in central midfield; there goes our creativity. Again a hard day for Xico and Owen.

Cacapa should play next to Colocini.

    Given
    Edgar – Cacapa – Colo – Bassong
    Geremi – Butt – Zog – Duff
    Xisco – Owen

Is it so hard to make a descent line-up????

Lets hope that the midfield can own the ball and get it forward to owen and Xisco – I bet MO will drop back a bit depending on the way the game goes.

Just heard from the lads in the stadium and it seems canny full so thats a good start.

Just watched Joe give an interview on the beeb and got his wrists slapped for swearing on live TV, I am already starting to like him.
I have the feeling we will get a win today. I think we are due some large chunks of luck although I hope we don’t need them.

right lads, your realistic predictions for todays game?
i’m not exactly confident, but i have a feeling that knowing there is an interim manager watching from the stands and that things might begin to pick up around sjp a little, could help the players today.
