We are so short of players at Newcastle United right now that the club is thinking about signing up Stephen Carr to help out.
Stephen Carr – returning to Newcastle?
Since Habib Beye was injured, nobody has really filled in well at right back, and so the Newcastle club are thinking that maybe they should sign Stephen back on, presumably for a short term contract.
But that just shows you how we didn’t get the job done in the summer, and no wonder Kevin was annoyed on the last day when he realized the club would only be bringing in two additional players, none of whom he knew anything about, according to reports.
Joe Kinnear has inherited the problem, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed that Joe is Irish, like Carr. Carr is still available, since the 32-year-old was released by Keegan at the end of last season, but has yet not found a new club.
Our thoughts on this is that it would be a desperate move, but if Habib Beye is still out injured – he is not injured now according to Physioroom.com – then it may be a good deal to sign him up until say the end of January. We also note that 3 players have Achilles problems – Viduka, Smith and Beye – which is interesting why we have so many of these particular injuries.
Since Stephen is a free agent, any club can sign him up at any time. We suppose desperate times need desperate measures – and these are certainly desperate times at Newcastle.
