Joe Kinnear has told the Evening Chronicle he is preparing a list of players we should go after in the transfer market, in case he is still manager of Newcastle United when the transfer window opens again in January.
Joe Kinnear – created list of potential targets in January
We think Joe hoping he still is, but we like the way Joe is operating and he’s certainly managed to raise the spirits of his players and some fans of Newcastle with his positive attitude and plain talking.
Joe told the Evening Chronicle today:
“I will be taking in as many of those international matches as I can, so that I will have a hit list of players if I am still here in January.”
“I have been told I am here until the club is sold and, while our managing director Derek Llambias has informed me there are eight interested parties, there is nothing definite.”
“Obviously if the club is sold I am here for the short term, but if it is longer I have to be prepared – and I will be.”
Kinnear has sensibly been scouring UEFA’s list of players who are out of contract, because they are players Newcastle could sign, but it doesn’t look like there’s anybody on the lists that is good enough for Newcastle.
The 61-year-old Irishman joked:
“Some of them are older than me.”
Our squad is just way too small, and we hope we can add to it, in January with some good players, but that may not be that easy.
