Beye Will Be Fit And Ready For Manchester City

Habib Beye has given Joe Kinnear a welcome boost after the draw at Goodison Park yesterday.

Habib Beye – player of the year last season

Beye missed the game with his Achilles injury becasue he was just not ready, even though he had trained on Friday and Saturday.

The former Marseille captain says that he expects to be fully fit and ready to go for the visit of Manchester City two weeks today.

Beye talked to the official site today:

“I trained on Friday but the Everton game was too soon,” “The Premier League is very fast and physical and you have to be at your best to play.”

“Now I have two weeks to work on my fitness and by the time we play Man City I will be fine and ready to play.”

If Beye does make it back we’ll hazard a guess that the back four will be Beye Coloccini Taylor and Bassong.

We have a feeling that Bassong may have shaded his way past Enrique for the left back spot, after yesterday’s display, and he looks a fine player in the making, with such composure for one so young, and he certainly links up well with fellow Frenchman Charles N’Zogbia on the left wing.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

I like Bassong, always played well for us. Also I think the Collocini in the 2nd half was the guy who we bought, in the 1st half he was shocking but he came good in the 2nd half, hopefully he’ll play like that all the time now!

2-0 down to Everton, but then watched the highlights and am chufed we managed a point.
this international break could not of come at a beter time for us, with our injuries etc: ifwe get Beye and Maybe Jonas back we will deffinetly improve and hopefully get a result at st’james in 2 weeks againts Man City…

There is some light in this tunnel thank god!!!

What do you do with Tayls. he has the potential but….. He is good attacking but both goals came down the right hand side so even when not in centre back he is not the best defence wise.

Could he be a better defensive midfielder?? Seriously what do people think. his handballs would not cost so much and he would still defend he would simply not be the last line.

Ausgeordie – you may have a point there. I don’t know how good his passing is like but I’m not sure he fits into our first choice back four and we need a replacement for Butt..

Bassong is the type of defender we have been searching for yrs and yrs.
Beye is also a grt defender and it`ll be grt to have him back.
Not so sure about Collocini yet?

Did Jose Enrique come off injured? Or was his swap with Bassong tactical?

Still think our best defence is:

    Beye-Bassong-Coloccini-Enrique

    To fit Taylor in:

    Taylor-Beye-Coloccini-Bassong

Basically Bassong, Beye and Coloccini MUST be in the defence when fit.

I hope Joe does a job for you lads, as a Man City fan, I know what the roller-coaster is like. I think you need to look further afield than Kevin tho.

Someon’s in for a battering off City, and soon. Our weaknesses were shown up in the second half against scousers, but first half we were good. When we get that for 90 minutes we may win one.

All the best for the season

Karltoon – But we dont have 3 good CMs to play in the middle unless we play Jonas or Zog with Barton and Guthrie, but them one of them has to be left out.

Stick with 4-4-2, we are used to it.

Fergie – Taylor is still really poor defensively IMO but his attacking play yesterday masked it.

Bassong deserves a first team slot.the lad is very confident when with the ball and passes accurately.jose is always shaking like a chicken due to loss of confidence but has some skills

Totally agree with those posts starting with Aus Geordie’s. We all have to realise Taylor is a poor defender but could be used, perhaps with some success, on the right of midfield or as a holding role midfielder. He has proved time and time again, week in week out, he will cost us goals and points playing in defence as he did again on Sunday. Colo has been badly affected playing alongside Taylor imo.

    Beye – Colo – Edgar – Bassong

    Taylor – Guthrie – Nzogbia

    Jonas – Duff

    Owen

Play Edgar CB with Colo as he has proved he cannot play RB and although I would prefer Bassong at CB with Colo, Bassong is good enough to do a job at LB till we get a replacement then move him to CB. Drop Butt he’s finished.

tooner i completely agree with that, but id like to see big mark, and shola(i know, but he played well on sunday so give him a chance) on the bench. taylor has given goals away to be fair but we’re not giving him a chance to settle down with colo at cb. bassong was too class at left back yesterday to waste him at cb. him and zoggs can cause a lot of teams problems, and they reminded me of the old entertainers approach!
