Charles N’Zogbia has been one player at Newcastle who has been playing well since Kevin Keegan left the club.
Charles N’Zogbia – nearly won it for us on Sunday
We always knew Charles was a good player, and now he seems to have his head in the right place and is back to his energetic best on the left wing. In fact Duff and N’Zogbia are both playing very well on the wings right now.
And Charles got so close to scoring the winning goal on Sunday, after Ameobi had managed to put the ball to his right for Charles within the 6 yard box, but a fantastic block from left-back Leighton Baines saved the day for Everton.
Charles said today:
“I didn’t see the man come from behind, but it was a great save from him.” “When we were 2-0 down, we knew we had to do something. We had been playing badly and we had to try to come back into it.”
“Once Steven Taylor scored, we knew we had been given a second chance. Once we scored straight away, I thought, ‘Yes, we are back in this’.”
“When everybody is back from injury, we can have fun. We can win more games.” “When you have different players to pick from, we can have lots of opportunities to win games.”
Good words from Charles, and we hope the lad has now settled down at Newcastle, because there’s no doubt he’s a very good player and very dangerous when he runs at the opposition defense.
Charles has played his heart out in the last few games, and it’s always great to see that. Even though he’s just 22 years old, N’Zogbia has appeared 149 times for Newcastle (108 starts) and scored 9 goals – not too bad a record at all, since Bobby Robson brought him in from Le Havre four years ago.
