Kinnear Still Not In The Clear With FA

October 8th, 2008 by Ed Harrison · 43 Comments

Joe Kinnear escaped any charge for appearing in the tunnel ten minutes before half time on Sunday, but the FA are still considering what to do about Joe’s tirade of 53 swear words in his press conference at Newcastle’s Darsley Park training ground last Thursday.

Joe Kinnear - still not in the clear with FA

A spokesman for the FA said.

“There will be no charge in connection with him appearing in the tunnel at Goodison Park but he has been written to by the FA just reminding that he was serving a touchline ban,”

“As far as the Press conference is concerned, the FA’s football regulation department is still considering the matter so that is still ongoing at the moment.”

Kinnear, who is 61, could find himself charged with bringing the game into disrepute, and after all the publicity of the event, where the sound recording and written transcript of the press conference was all over the internet, we’d be surprised if Joe is not charged.

Comments welcome.

has any one else noticed that the press seem to be a big part in why managers find it so difficult souness came out with comments that he is sure there are people in the press who love to see newcastle fail and sam allardyce said something similar and i neednt say what kinnear thinks probs coz ill be banned of the site lol

  • 4 TOONPIPES // Oct 8, 2008 at 19:54

  • 5 KIZZA // Oct 8, 2008 at 19:56

why did Ramos (tottenham manager) get a speeding ticket?

because he wanted to know what 3 points felt like

    sorry bad joke

  • 6 TOONPIPES // Oct 8, 2008 at 19:56

Yes I agree Beye I was going to say its like they want to see the manager fail isn’t it . . Really iritates me, like Joe said they don’t have the balls to be a manager yet they comment

  • 7 beyethegreat // Oct 8, 2008 at 19:59

they deserve more than a slap i hate the way they make loads of crap upand like my previous comment i wonder if there realy are people that realy do do what ever they can to pile pressure on our managers and chairman and inevatibally destabilize our club(though not all thier fault)thoughwhat i want to know is why when we are supposed to be everyones 2nd team

  • 8 beyethegreat // Oct 8, 2008 at 20:02

a good example off the press doing what they can to destabilize our club(though again not all thier fault) is the bollox about osama bin laden taking us over yes there is a certain amount of bollox written about every club but non that makes it to the front page

Speaking of journos, anyone know who that fat bloke is who comes on SSN on a morning sometimes and talks absoloute shite?
SSN is a decent channel, but they will fast loose credibility if they keep getting people like that on.

  • 12 beyethegreat // Oct 8, 2008 at 20:28

    what was he sayin shearer

  • 13 shearer9 // Oct 8, 2008 at 21:09

I just remember him saying that Newcastle are a joke club n all this..this was before all the Keegan/Ashley stuff happened by the way.
Basically he just doesn’t like NUFC, he looks so happy when he talks about the mess we are in.

  • 14 Toon Graeme // Oct 8, 2008 at 22:06

SO JFK gets a fine and a touchline ban? Yawn.

Dont the club have to pay for it?

Press officer didnt do nowt about it.

Absolute balls and the FA let players swear there heard off on the pitch.

Another page in the chapter of NUFC.

Why Mackems always crawl in the supermarket?

    They’re looking for low prices.

2.Why Mackems always open the carton of milk inside the supermarket

It says on the carton……OPEN HERE

3,Whats the difference between a Mackem and a Spermatozoid

A spermatozoid at least has a 1 in 10000000000000 percent chance to become a human. :-)

  • 18 batty // Oct 8, 2008 at 22:27

thats pretty clever for a belgrave fan

Why are all Newcastle fans starting to sound like Americans these days? So patriotic so full of nonsense it makes the rest of the country laugh at them. Kinnear deserves a caution over this, even Bobby said he thought it was wrong.

It is no way for someone to act. ToonGraeme, I believe in the transcript the press officer was furiously trying to take all comments off the record and Joe kept telling them to publish it.

Newcastle IS a joke at the moment, stop trying to deny it! I’m a lifelong Newcastle fan being born and bread in the toon but I’m a little sick of the blame for our failing club being attributed to the ’southern press’. If you listen to the recording, the majority of the reporters at the press conference were local representatives i.e. they had geordie accents. They may be Sunderland or Midlesborough fans but they were not southern. The more this clubs fans make a divide between them and the south the more people jump on it in the same way people jump on Americans for being closed minded xenophobes.

I am against what Ashley has done to this club but I am sick to the back teeth of people using this North South divide as an excuse for an underachieving club.

Bring on a sale, bring on stability, it’s hard to believe that my optimism when watching the man utd. match now seems like it was 3 or 4 seasons ago!

  • 26 Jasar // Oct 9, 2008 at 0:09

53 swears are just too much. What was he thinking? lol

  • 27 The Entertainers // Oct 9, 2008 at 8:08

    Hang on……

wasnt the swear-a-thon in a closed off room with just Joe and the press. No access to public and not being broadcast live.

The press officer tried in vain to explain all of this was ‘off the record’, however with Joe not giving a damn because the press do what they bloody like, the press did what they blood well liked anyway!

The press didnt have to print the story. In fact many of the better papers hinted at the level of anger and lack of tack from Joe, but the rags printed word by word and even included audio on thier websites.

Was this not the presses choice to do this?

I bet Joes the type of guy to rant and rave most of the time…….does this mean the FA should challenge his behaviour on the training pitch and other times too?

Grow up FA, whilst Joe lost his rag and swore at a few journo’s, it was their choice to print the damn thing and the publics choice to read about it. Apart from those ‘professional journos’ Joe did force his opinion on anyone.

  • 28 Born Again Geordie // Oct 9, 2008 at 8:22

Pathetic tabloid newspaper clap trap. I read an article on the Times web site yesterday and they said it is very unlikely that the ’sweet’ FA will take any further action.

  • 29 Born Again Geordie // Oct 9, 2008 at 8:25

    Entertainers ,

Well put mate - perhaps the FA should post swear police in all the stands around the country to stop all the fans using naughty words during the match too !

    lol :D

  • 30 Ganiyu // Oct 9, 2008 at 8:26

If you throw a grenade at the Mackems we would have no away matches

  • 31 daydeburt // Oct 9, 2008 at 8:48

why’s everyone playing the ‘press got it in for poor old Newcastle card’

It’s this sort of seige mentality & paranoia that only serves to self perpetuate the perceived Newcastle - Press situation.

Anyone that starts their first press conference with ‘where’s whatisface. your a c**t’ is asking for trouble. Kinnear may be good for us (unproven as yet & I wish him all the best) but he acted like a complete d1ck in this situation.

sorry for all the big words an that

  • 33 Nick // Oct 9, 2008 at 9:31

off subject but this is from a guy called the flaming hoop on the talk of the tyne forum.
I think he’s got a very fair point.
This is what he says below:-
    ……………………………………
I don’t think Ashley is wrong, I don’t want Keegan back, I didn’t really want him for the second coming, but got caught up in it all.

Ashley should stay and work through his five year plan.

On the WHUFC front, if they get sued for the millions they could and the Icelandic bank goes pop, thats the end of them.

With that in mind, would you rather have Ashley or some fly by night.

Ashley is not the evil zealot people are painting him to be!

That should get some debate going Ken

  • 34 Born Again Geordie // Oct 9, 2008 at 9:44

Ganiyu - you are totally pointless !!!!

  • 35 MickMack // Oct 9, 2008 at 10:12

What are you saying Born Again Geordie? That he is a waste of human skin?

  • 36 Rasko a.k.a Hadji // Oct 9, 2008 at 10:13

Batty….I believe that Belgrade was the word you were looking for.
Everyone supports their local clubs and 1 team from the big leagues such as Epl,Calcio,Primera,Bundes.
Even if you’re a Toon fan Batty, don’t tell me that you wouldnt had been glad if Middlesborough won the Uefa Cup instead Sevilla.
If that happened, the whole North East would have shut the mouth of all cockney journalists.

  • 37 Nick 69 // Oct 9, 2008 at 10:15

disillusioned- the reporters may have had northern accents but they are just the local reporters working for the southern press, evev graeme souness said after the match on sunday that a lot of these reporters have it in for newcastle as it was the same when he was here, he said theres only a couple of them that are decent and JK need to suss out who they are and only talk to them as the others WILL make up sh*t and try to make us looke like idiots

  • 38 Rasko a.k.a Hadji // Oct 9, 2008 at 10:16

AND YES….I’M A PARTIZAN FAN FROM MY BIRTH,AND A NEWCASTLE FANATIC SINCE 1998.
I CANT CHOOSE FROM THESE 2 TEAMS,I LOVE THEM PRETTY MUCH THE SAME.

  • 39 beyethegreat // Oct 9, 2008 at 10:24

    agreed nick

  • 40 beyethegreat // Oct 9, 2008 at 10:25

lets not forget sam allardyce also said he had a hard time with the press

  • 41 Chris G // Oct 9, 2008 at 10:43

Disillusioned - absolutely agree with you 100%

There’s so much crap written on this blog these days, and it was a breath of fresh air to read something sensible for a change.

    Well done mate.

  • 42 Chris G // Oct 9, 2008 at 11:21

rooks - I absolutely agree with you as well.

Kinnear did act like a complete dick, and it’s a shame that so many people on here don’t seem to understand that simple fact. As our disillusioned friend rightly pointed out, even Sir Bobby said he thought it was wrong.

We may be in the minority on this one, but least we’re in very good company.

  • 43 rooks // Oct 9, 2008 at 11:44

    Cheers Chris.

I’d actually missed Disallusioned’s post, totally agree, well said mate.
