Gutierrez and Beye Back for Manchester City Game

Joe Kinnear is looking forward to the return of class players Habib Beye and Jonas Gutierrez, for our next game against Manchester City at St. James’ Park a week come Monday.

Joe Kinnear -excited by Beye and Gutierrez return

There’s something uplifting when you see someone in a job that he obviously relishes every minute of, and that’s Joe Kinnear as manager of Newcastle. And it’s struck us that the playing staff at the club, which is small but full of quality, will be the best squad Joe has ever worked with.

The return of Gutiérrez will excite the Newcastle supporters, after the Argentine’s excellent start to his Newcastle career. Jonas picked up a shoulder injury – a cracked clavicle – playing for Argentina against Peru, during the previous international break last month.

Joe talked about having Jonas and Habib back:

“In some respects, when you have a result like the Everton one you want to play another game as quickly as possible,” “But the good thing about this international break is that it gives us a chance to get a couple of important players fit again.”

“Habib Beye and the Spiderman (Gutiérrez) should both be fit for the Manchester City game next week and that will give us a big lift because they are quality additions.” “Gutiérrez should have his first training session with me on Friday and the good thing is I’m going to have ten days to work with him before the next game because it’s on the Monday night.”

“I’m not having to rush him into the first team and he will benefit from the training he is able to do during this international break.” “That is going to help the player as well because it will give him confidence. It’s one thing been fit enough to play, but you need that time in training as well as it will get him back into the fray in terms of tacking a tackle and being dumped on his backside.”

“I’d seen him play plenty of times in Spain and I know he will be a great asset to the team. I’ve spoken to Chris Hughton and he has told me he is a tremendous athlete, he is extremely fit and he is a hard worker for the team, it will be good to have him back.” “He had a good start to his Newcastle career and his return is a big boost for everybody.”

It will be an interesting game against Manchester City, but we still need to get some result, and it’s a long time since we last had a win. We’ve only had one win in the league this season, against Bolton at home, so it would be very nice to get another one – and if we can beat City, Newcastle will surely start buzzing again.

Comments welcome.

A win will be a welcome boost to the club and will help Joe towards his target of 15 points in eight games. If he is going to reach it, we have to start taking all 3 points from our home games.

Man Shitty will be as good a team to beat as any other!!!

Agree with Joe. My team against Citeh:

    ………………….Given…………………
    Beye……Taylor….Colo…..Bassong

    …………….Guthrie…Barton……….
    Gutierrez………………………N’Zogbia

    ……………..Owen…….Ameobi………

    Subs:
    Harper
    Enrique
    Edgar(fit?)
    Butt
    Geremi
    Duff
    Xisco

We can then bring on Duff for Zoggy or Gutierrez if they run out of ideas, and Butt or Geremi on for Barton if he runs out of steam. Xisco can come on for Ameobi after an hour if we need him to.

    Rasko,

I like the look of that team. However, I suspect JK will stick with his “new Fash” so Zog or Duff will miss out.

    Howay the lads.

    Good to have spidey back.
Nice to have several players again to choose from.Need to be good to defend against city as they have a good attack.

Yeah good team Hadji, and you fit in both Duff and Zoggy. My only thing with that team, is that I don’t like when Owen plays on his own up front.. it doesn’t play to his strengths..

…and Butt is crap, but not much we can do there, until Barton is back. I would keep my team as posted in #4, just replace Barton with Butt or Geremi.. depending on who is least crap in training.

I like the look of Hadji’s setup, but how about this ides…take Butt out of the equation, and sit Colo in front of a back two of Tayls & Cacapa?

Cant wait to see Spidey back, and then Barton to follow will be nice to see…

Jakarta…..He has to stick with it,you can’t go all out against a super attacking team such as City.
4-5-1 is a must for this game with counter attacks only cos i can’t see our current team doing a positional build up play with players who are scared to hold the ball for more than 3 seconds. We lack creation so so much that’s why it is my opinion that counter attacks would be the best option against City.
If he thinks that he can beat Man City with attacking football…..he’s so so wrong.

Toonrich…i recomnded Colo on that position many times here but with 4-4-2 formation

    ………………………….Given……………………………..
    Beye…………….Taylor…..Cacapa………..Bassong
    …………………………Coloccini………………………..
    Jonas……………………………………………N’Zogbia
    …………………………Guthrie………………………….
    …………………..Owen…………..Duff………………….

But this could be suicidal against a team such as City IMO.

We can also play this aswell

    …………………………..Given…………………………….
    Beye………..Coloccini…….Taylor………Bassong
    ……………………………Butt……………………………..
    ……..Jonas………………………………………N’Zogbia
    ……………………Guthrie………Duff……………………
    …………………………….Owen……………………………

My thoughts with Colo as the DMF, is because Citeh have been playing With Jo up top, and SWP, Elano & Robinho behind him…With Colo playing there I thought he’d be a better physical challenge for one of the Citeh 3 Att mids, than Butt.
I guess we’ll have to await JK’s team selection!!

For all money the team will start like this mark my words….
    Given
    Beye Taylor Collocini Bassong
    Jonas Butt Guthrie N’Zogbia
    Duff
    Owen
Good line-up in my opinion maybe bring Ameobi on later if we need to change the forward structure but that will be how we start if all those players are fit… And Duff cant be dropped hes playing to well guys plus his Irish and JK loves that!!

Tywell, i dont disagree with your selection…but I’d prefer to see Zog behind MO, and duffer out on the wing…or they’ll probably just interchange with eachother anyhooo!

Best news i’ve heard in ages! I’d say the most important thing here is to allow Gutierrez a fairly free role! Especially (agreeing with Hadji) if we’re gunna play counter-attacking football!

Jonas can run at players and has shown for the most part a real skill/knack for keeping possession or getting free kicks – therefore if the rest of the team stays in a strong structure and we let him just dot around the pitch we’ll have both the defensive and creative capabilities to get a point if not all 3!

Best thing (all of you) is – look at your subs bench and see the options and then compare with the bench for our recent games!

    ——————-colo——————-
    ——-jonas——Duff——-nzogbia
    ——————-Owen—————–
