Joe Kinnear is looking forward to the return of class players Habib Beye and Jonas Gutierrez, for our next game against Manchester City at St. James’ Park a week come Monday.
Joe Kinnear -excited by Beye and Gutierrez return
There’s something uplifting when you see someone in a job that he obviously relishes every minute of, and that’s Joe Kinnear as manager of Newcastle. And it’s struck us that the playing staff at the club, which is small but full of quality, will be the best squad Joe has ever worked with.
The return of Gutiérrez will excite the Newcastle supporters, after the Argentine’s excellent start to his Newcastle career. Jonas picked up a shoulder injury – a cracked clavicle – playing for Argentina against Peru, during the previous international break last month.
Joe talked about having Jonas and Habib back:
“In some respects, when you have a result like the Everton one you want to play another game as quickly as possible,” “But the good thing about this international break is that it gives us a chance to get a couple of important players fit again.”
“Habib Beye and the Spiderman (Gutiérrez) should both be fit for the Manchester City game next week and that will give us a big lift because they are quality additions.” “Gutiérrez should have his first training session with me on Friday and the good thing is I’m going to have ten days to work with him before the next game because it’s on the Monday night.”
“I’m not having to rush him into the first team and he will benefit from the training he is able to do during this international break.” “That is going to help the player as well because it will give him confidence. It’s one thing been fit enough to play, but you need that time in training as well as it will get him back into the fray in terms of tacking a tackle and being dumped on his backside.”
“I’d seen him play plenty of times in Spain and I know he will be a great asset to the team. I’ve spoken to Chris Hughton and he has told me he is a tremendous athlete, he is extremely fit and he is a hard worker for the team, it will be good to have him back.” “He had a good start to his Newcastle career and his return is a big boost for everybody.”
It will be an interesting game against Manchester City, but we still need to get some result, and it’s a long time since we last had a win. We’ve only had one win in the league this season, against Bolton at home, so it would be very nice to get another one – and if we can beat City, Newcastle will surely start buzzing again.
