Newcastle United have issued a statement saying that Player Recruitment Executive Tony Jimenez has today left the club.
The official statement said:
NEWCASTLE United can today (October 9) confirm that Tony Jimenez has left the Club.
Tony, who was appointed Vice-President (Player Recruitment) in January, has made the decision in order to pursue other interests.
Newcastle United thanks Tony for all of his hard work and efforts and wishes him every success in the future.
So the clear out has begun, but we still hope we can have some talented recruitment personnel, whose job it is to scout for new players, and to look for the top up and coming youngsters.
We don’t think there was anything wrong with the structure at the club, just as long as the manager had the last word on players - on who could leave and who he wanted in. It looks like that didn’t work under this structure, but we still think there wouldn’t have been the problems we’ve had if Chris Mort had still been the Chairman.
Chris was a straight shooter and had already told Newcastle fans Kevin had the final say on players, and he would not have allowed bringing in players behind Kevin’s back. Of course we still don’t know what exactly happened that made Kevin walk out.
Don’t be surprised if Dennis Wise is the next to leave, although with the huge salary he’s getting, he probably wants to delay that as long as he can. But once the new manager is hired under the new owners, he will leave then - at the latest.
What do you think?
Comments welcome, but please keep them decent - thanks.

Hopefully this wont effect our youth scouting.I have been pleased with young players we have signed and hope it continues.Bassong and guthrie are great players for the future and already in the team.Just hope the likes of tozer, kadar and zamberla get a chance.Still havent seen any links confirming spear has signed but he is only 15 so prob has per contract until he turns 16.

I talked to Spear on MSN, apparently he said he signed for us

Time to wheel out the scapegoats…..
MA is going nowhere…..cue free pints to get the lads and lasses back on board…..

Makes you wonder how long Mr Wise will remain. I mean if Ashley is not going to stump up the cash to buy new players then the role of “Head of player recruitment” seems a bit redundant.

Hopefully this is the start of the takeover. Bye bye to all the the dead weight dragging our great club down

I personally think Jiminez was not a bad bloke, a decent scout too by all accounts. Would have been better news if it was wobbly eyes who had walked!
As for dougnufc’s claim he ‘talked to Spear on msn’, I have just been on there with Uma Thurman, apparently Im on for a date at her place tonight, nailed on, whhoooop!

why oh why didnt he just give them (Llambias, Wise etc) the boot when it all came to a head ???
Oh yeah thats right …. he doesnt know what he’s doing….
Ashley Out

Which team is he playing for then I am struggling to find any information on how he is doing. Obviously when you are tipped to be the next Wayne Rooney people want to take an interest. Is he playing for the U16’s?
15 Micky Toon // Oct 9, 2008 at 13:50
Mark - The “next wayne rooney” was Aaron Ramsey who went to Arsenal.

Jimenez was actually 1 of the good guys lads.
He is the 1 that we don`t want to leave.
He has grt contacts in spain/portugal and a quality eye for talent……..
I think KK would have worked well with him if we could have got WISE and LAME-ASS out the door.

Does anybody think Jimenez, Wise, Vietre etc would have been appointed if Allardyce had stayed in charge?
I get the feeling one of the reasons these guys were appointed was because, although Ashley wanted to please the fans by appointing KK, he was uneasy at giving him transfer power considering his own admission that he hadn’t watched a game of football in 3 years before he returned.
It just goes to show how important key decisions are in football and the rippling effect they can have.

Jiminez ………used to be a steward at Chelsea I believe. Property developer….had an eye for a player. Says who exactly? He was instrimental in bringing Ramos to Spurs. I think that says it all.
Definately one of the Cockney mafia.
19 steve // Oct 9, 2008 at 14:43
Can hardly blame Jimenez for the turmoil at toon - he was only a scout for gods sake.
Wise and Llambias are the ones who should go, we need scouts no matter who is in charge wether they are cockney or from timbuktoo
@Greg B - I can’t believe Uma would chat to you on MSN, she already promised me a date tonight and I’m in London - looks like she’s two timing you and you’re getting sloppy seconds mate
20 skin d // Oct 9, 2008 at 14:49
tony only brought in players from la liga,a league he had knowledge of.apparently his so called contact in spain was a young lad that walked dogs for a living.
as far as i am concerned it is one down ,a few more to go.
21 Danny Duckfoot // Oct 9, 2008 at 15:03
He was a match day steward at chelsea a few years ago?
Glad to see the back of him, just gutted that Wise, Llambias & Ashley havnt gone yet either.
I’ve a feeling that Ashley is not going to sell?
I think he’s struggling to get the price he wants.
Lets just hope that his buisness interests crumble around him, he deserves all he gets.
Toon Army 4 Ever !

@ Marty-TOON RISING,
Your talking rubbish mate.
He was the guy who assisted in bringing Ramos to Spurs?
Where do you get that he’s a good scout from?
Dont tell me he brought in Guthrie (our best buy so far), coz that was KK’s player.
Xisco & the other midfielder he brought in on the last day of the season, have shown absolutely nothing so far.
How that makes him a good scout i have no idea?
Ashley OUT !

Micky Toon - Ramsey was never called the next Rooney, keep up will you.
24 Macas // Oct 9, 2008 at 15:56
Jiminez isn’t a scout, Vetere is the scout
25 Dondatta13 // Oct 9, 2008 at 16:02
51 Times correct!!! Spears was deemed the next WR, not Ramsey
26 Micky Toon // Oct 9, 2008 at 16:02
51Times - Are you sure? I thought that’s why he went to the arse?
27 normski1930z // Oct 9, 2008 at 16:09
i thought ramsey was more of a right sided player like spidey…
28 faustino // Oct 9, 2008 at 16:13
To my mind Jimenez was only ever employed around transfer windows anyway. check the press from January.
Smells bad does all this.
29 andyc290 // Oct 9, 2008 at 16:52
He is the one i would have kept out of the three amigos. Get Lambias out 1st then Wise, those two have got a lot more to answer for. Jiminez seemed to do some good things with the deals he brokered and the players he had a hand in bringing in. He probably wanted to go to save his own reputation though.
Never mind, no great loss.
30 SwedEric // Oct 9, 2008 at 17:37
Are you guys high? One down? We were blessed to have had him at all, to loose him is not a good thing just because he was in group with Wise.
It´s not like he decided how to run the club! He is quality!
31 iain // Oct 9, 2008 at 18:01
vetere is the only one worth keeping imo.
hes the only proper scout out of the lot of them.
jiminez is a nobody who only got a job because hes ashleys mate. there are millions of people better qualified than him to negotiate our transfer deals.
32 Toon Graeme // Oct 9, 2008 at 19:04
Take todays date and take away 30 days.
30 days = manditory normal notice of period of resignation.
30 days ago who left Newcastle under a cloud - KK.
Insteresting time scale or am I jumping the wrong tree.
33 Grantos // Oct 9, 2008 at 21:02
It’s not 30 days mandatory to leave a job, up to year of employment is one week, two is two etc, employment rights act 96
34 lesh // Oct 10, 2008 at 8:30
Toon Graeme // Oct 9, 2008 at 19:04 @32….
You may be right but how much notice does Wise have to give… or is he being loyal and sticking with us through thick and thin?
Heaven forbid!
35 Nick // Oct 10, 2008 at 8:31
Jimenez was a very ”connected” guy. Not the one I wanted to see walk away at all . It all went wrong with that snide Llambias replacing Mort who was a stand up geezer.
