Jimenez Left Because He Has No Future At Newcastle

October 10th, 2008 by Ed Harrison · 76 Comments

A source close to Jimenez told the Evening Chronicle that he left only because no money will be spent by the club - who’s he trying to kid?

Tony Jimenez - left because no money being spent - give me a brea
k
The proverbial inside source told the Chronicle today:

“Tony just felt there was no point in continuing his position.”

“He knows that the club could be sold and, even if it is not, there is the possibility that the club won’t spend money in January with the future so uncertain.”

“He is expected to take up another role soon because he wants to continue working in the game.”

We don’t understand that logic, because we don’t really think that’s the real reason Tony left the club.

If we get new owners in, why wouldn’t they be willing to shore up our team in January and then the summer. In fact isn’t that one thing we are hoping for from the new owners?

But we think Tony left because he has no long term future at the club, and Dennis Wise also knows he will have no long term future at Newcastle.

And look for Dennis to either resign, or leave once the new owners come in.

Comments welcome.

It’s a pity in one sense in that a shrewd operator in the market would be needed in January - assuming no funds for transfers!

However, there must be something more to this and it may be MA wielding the axe in a diplomatic way, saving face all round.

I’d guess Wise’d be next to resign to pursue other interests (ooh, lucky Spurs!!!) as I imagine there’d be a need for Llambias to be involved in any due diligence etc… if it happens.

  • 2 Lokes // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:00

    Frankly, hes good.

  • 3 Disillusioned // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:03

Good! At least that’s one less severance pay for new owners if the club ever gets bought.

Shame Wise doesn’t have the same amount of pride and dignity to do the good thing and resign as well, I guess he’s just happy collecting his wages and playing golf! He’s been keeping an awfully low profile recently and I’ll bet he’s not got a lot to do at the moment….sponger.

  • 4 Daniel // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:08

I’m not sure Jimenez going is such a good thing, although it’d be interesting if we found out more about his and Veteres (or w/e spelling) role. Which one has the more contacts in spain, which lead to signings such as guiterez?

Was it Jimenez that worked with Madrid or was that Vetere?

  • 5 Timberhead Toon // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:09

I’d have been happy for Jimenez to stay as he has sorted some good players. But should report to the manager. Wise to F off with Llambias and then we can move on.

But there will be no money in Jan as there will be no one buying us for some time.

  • 6 beyethegreat // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:11

disillusioned to be fair as much as i dislike den wise if you were getting paid 1 mil for doing nowt i bet you take it though it just goes to show that kk had the dignity to leave even though he would have to pay ma 2 mil

  • 7 Andreas // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:12

    The latter Daniel.

  • 8 Tom_Toon // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:14

    Ed, that picture is Vetere.

  • 9 ryan peacock // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:14

if ashley doesnt sell before january we will be to far adrift at the bottom in my opinion!

  • 10 Ausgeordie // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:16

First out of a sinking ship…however the more dead weight we lose the better we should go.

    Go JOE!!

  • 11 Stevo // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:21

Any substance in this? - http://www.shieldsgazette.com/nufc/KFC-boss-to-take-over.4580680.jp

  • 12 Ptah // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:21

Ashley has dropped in worth from 1.6 billion to 168 million thanks to the crunchy credit. I bet he can no longer afford the wages and will be looking to dump as many assetts/staff as possible.

Ashley is a rubbish business man who got lucky whilst we bought tat we didn’t need from his stores.

No one will buy Newcastle right now as there is so much market uncertainty. Ashley will have to sell Owen as he now has the liabilities to pay people bigger salaries than he himself earns.

  • 13 Daniel // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:21

Ok, then it’s not too bad that Jimenez has gone. Get Wise out next, but keep Vetere in a scouting role. We need some decent foreign scouts, someone like Queirez when he was at Man U, look abroad for developing players.

We could even sign Wenger in a scouting role! :D

  • 14 Ian // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:22

He is in charge of finding new players??????

Rubbish, he has left with vetere’s list most probably, now where he goes will be using the same list as Vetere, hopefully Vetere kept some close to his chest.

  • 15 Who is Derek Llambias? // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:35

i’m miffed that you dont understand the logic ed

  • 16 samthecat // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:48

Jimenez just did the negotiations-any new owner will bring in a Chairman or DOF to do that or even leave it to the Manager.
Clearly Jimenez has been told by Ashley nothing will be spent in January if her still owns the c lub.

  • 17 GM // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:49

just seen that as well Stevo - can only hope its true, at least there isnt or doesnt seem to be a credit crunch in the middle east and if you’ve got £8BN in ur ass pocket you dont need the banks cash anyway

  • 18 selly no skill // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:51

he signed some bloody good players quite cheaply this summer like.done a good job for me.

  • 19 GM // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:52

am also pretty sure that if you have the sort of money needed to but an EPL side you are not the sort of person who needs to go cap in hand to the bank and ask for finance ala the South african bid.

No better place to protect ur hard earned billions, who needs stocks, shares & savings accounts buy the toon instead.

  • 20 Oba one konobi // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:56

Ed we can not have our cake and eat it too! You can not have new owners come in and stay with the same system that got us into this mess. Ashley made some mistakes but I know none of use could run the football club to meet expectations.
We will lose alot of our good background support, and I for one wont stick around either when the are other clubs that will pay for his expertise.
As I keep saying I have a feeling our new owners would not be any better than what we have got. Only if it was not KK that left I do not thinK Ashley would be in this situation! No one is going to throw money at NUFC with our track record. WOULD YOU!

  • 21 TOONPIPES // Oct 10, 2008 at 14:03

People this is part of the self-fulfilling prophecy that the mob (term of endearment) have created .. the whole thing is going to turn into a nightmare and you will all be able to blame MA .. worst case scenario is that MA gets p issed off and stiches us up good and proper .. infact, cant blame him …….. lets just hope that doesnt happen and he sells on good terms to a buyer who wants the best for the club … of course we are totally in his hands here as the mob (term of endearment) have done their utmost to really p iss him off .. we shall see. .

  • 22 TOONPIPES // Oct 10, 2008 at 14:06

Correct Oba one kanobi …. these lot want to get rid of MA whilst same time insisting on exactly who he sells to !! .. its hilarious .. and selly no skill i totally agree and have said same thing many times .. they did a great job .. no doubt there were other players who they scouted who Keegan turned down who we could have done with right now … keegan has really really f ucked me off ……… not saying MA was the dream, but walking was SO IRRESPONSIBLE AND SELFISH

  • 23 lesh // Oct 10, 2008 at 14:12

Disillusioned // Oct 10, 2008 at 13:03 - totally agreed, Wise’s showing what he is. He should’ve gone first!

The KFC man.. fingers crossed for a quick sale.

Shirt logo - KFC = Keegan’s flipping clever?

  • 24 mikeygd // Oct 10, 2008 at 14:17

tom all the websites ive looked at have all used that as a pic of tony, r they all wrong?

  • 25 mikeygd // Oct 10, 2008 at 14:19

or has it been changed since u commented

  • 26 Stevo // Oct 10, 2008 at 14:23

Toonpipes is here……..whack a bit Radiohead on that will cheer us all up!

  • 27 Oba one konobi // Oct 10, 2008 at 14:23

Toonpipes in total agreement with you! I have a funny feeling KK pull on the NUFC heartstrings but as an owner and buisnessman MA told him you signed a contract to work in that way and live with it. What people do not realise is that DW and his team offered plenty a players to KK. But KK like the baby he could be throw his toys out and said I want him and him. If you can not afford the players the DOF has to get the next best thing. There were romers he wanted SWP, but for that type of money DW offered Jonas. Who has done the better job and got value for money?
MA should stay and I agree how can we demand someone to sell then tell them who to sell it to? Absolutly crazy! Thedy want an Arab, Rich SA, even nigerians if they are willing to pass over the cas. Sounds like NUFC prostitues to me! Give us enough money and we would do anything.
Loalty starts from home lads and lassses, we are a laughing stock to all the average teams in the leauge. Hull, Leeds, Peterborough you name it would Love to be in the position we are in right now but we never see the good always what the big boys are doing.
We have taken our eye of the ball NUFC, even the makems are laughing this time. But this time we have truly self distructed!

  • 28 TOONPIPES // Oct 10, 2008 at 14:34

With ya Oba …. 100% .. nice one .. this is exactly how i see it … Stevo .. i am mega p issed off mate .. lot of people have ruined this club .. much more than MA ever did ..

  • 29 Stevo // Oct 10, 2008 at 14:37

Toonpipes / Oba one konobi - MA & DW are on their way out. Much to the glee of the MAJORITY of the NUFC. The majority cant all be wrong fellas. The club is gonna be bought and that’s the way it is. All the “I told you so’s” in the world isn’t going to change that now. And I hope its for the best. Maybes you guys should polish those crystal balls you both have and prophesise on something more positive that calling us NUFC prostitutes!

  • 30 Stevo // Oct 10, 2008 at 14:39

Toon pipes totally understand how pissed off you are mate - just trying to look for positives rather than blaming each other

  • 31 Thump // Oct 10, 2008 at 15:02

    The Chronicle?

    Inside source?

It’s a load of cow pat, mate.

  • 32 Paul // Oct 10, 2008 at 15:13

No one has a secure future at Newcastle, and certainly not prospective new owners. IF someone is brave enough to take on Newcastle, Keegan might dictate to them that he wants to come back on his terms. Then the bedsheet blackmail mob will start once more with another ‘bring back Keegan’ campaign, and the club will start to rip itself apart all over again. Newcastle could indeed a very desirable club, but not with the silver haired time bomb lurking in the shadows.

  • 33 Geordie Jayne // Oct 10, 2008 at 15:42

Some people on here talk a load of rubbish.

    Facts please

  • 34 Geordie Jayne // Oct 10, 2008 at 15:44

MA had ruined our club fact - he is incompetent at running a football club and thats a fact

  • 35 Ganiyu // Oct 10, 2008 at 16:01

I blame the fans for their stupid acts.a new owner seeing all what has happened would still invest in Newcastle my be jesus in disguise coming to carry the cross of former owners.fans sometimes forget to think of the aftermath of their action.
Everyone wants a new owner but not a foreigner which is like a baby demanding for a bottle of bear instead of its mother breast.

  • 36 ronaldeano // Oct 10, 2008 at 16:16

    @Ganiyu

You havent a clue what your talking about son

  • 37 nufc supporter // Oct 10, 2008 at 16:26

ganiyu….what are you even talking about, your always on here spouting rubbish, i bet the majority of regulars just by pass your comments these days, do us all a favour and retire your amazing blogging skills, as for jiminez, thank god hes gone, yes there were some decent signings but all in all the fans werent happy with the structure, so one part of that structure is now gone so good riddance, lets hope this means that ashley may be leaving sooner rather than later

  • 38 mikeygd // Oct 10, 2008 at 16:37

i disagee with the fact that if kevins back under the new owners, theres a falling out and he walks that the fans will turn on the new owner. The fans turned on the owners due to the facts, knowone likes wise and co they didn’t spend enough money and gave kevin players he didnt want and the owners failed to give the fans what they wanted by sacking wise. I do however hope the new owners employ someone else because there is life after kev, joes doing a gr8 job so why can’t someone else but please get someone in who can speak good english i feel ramos is struggling due to that.

  • 41 geordiemal // Oct 10, 2008 at 17:52

That pic is defo Vetere. Anyone who considers themselves half a fan should really know that. Don’t know why people bother to get sarcastic when they’re obviously wrong. At least Tom can call himself a football fan considering at lot of others probably still think Shearer wears the no 9.

  • 42 cause I got the girth // Oct 10, 2008 at 17:54

@ Stevo - “The majority cant all be wrong fellas”
you ever read ‘The Enemy of the People’ by Henrik Ibsen? If not look it up, interesting book, maybe some people on here should consider the thinking behind it. The story highlights how that that in hindsight, the majority are an irrational mob, blind sided by their own prejudices, and more importantly, usually wrong! Just a thought!

the “people” i refer to, are all the ashley bum boys out there.

    On ashley i know.
he has ruined the club. fact!
he is an addicted gambler, fact!
and hes a spurs fan. fact!
    he brought in wise. fact!
he said he had a 20 million pound plan to spend per year, thats a lie, fact!!
He was drinking getting getting drunk when this episode with keegan kicked off, fact!
He said hes trying to buy promising youth, and sold milner. fact!!
He wants to make a profit on the club, when he could sell it within 2 hours for the actual price its worth, fact!!
He says he cant go to the match because he fears for his children, nothing would happen to them, we are fans of the club not people that would hurt children, fact!!

just to clear some confusion up…

the pic is defo vetere, as a few people have said

vetere worked with real madrid, not jimenez

from what i can gather it is vetere who identifies players as he is essentially a scout. jimenez is a deal-maker, and he is not a football man, he’s a businessman

  • 57 xisco biscuits // Oct 10, 2008 at 22:29

sorry - was meant to say pic is defo not vetere :-)

vetere is the guy who looks like he should be called jimenez lol
