News yesterday that Newcastle United are taking a closer look at Kevin Mensah, the Denmark Under-18 international.
Vasteras SK – Swedish club acting as feeder club to Newcastle
The Viborg striker is back on trial with Newcastle, and seems keen to make a permanent move to the Tyneside club. Newcastle scout Ole Nielsen told bold.dk.
“Kevin has come over to prove that he is good enough, and that he has what we seek,” “And he has to also see if Newcastle have anything for him, this is two-way.”
“Now, some things happened in the club last year which means that he came over again.”
“But I have some of the reports from last year when he did so well and so I have had a good dialogue with (sporting director) Steffen Hojer in Viborg.”
However, the news we have from one of our readers, is that it’s being reported that Swedish club Vasteras SK will be a feeder club for us, and it is based on links with Richard Money, who was their former manager from 2004-2005. Indeed this may have been set up by Richard himself.
Apparently Linus Sjöberg and Victor Nilsson Lindelöf will join the club in November to train, and over the next couple of months or so we will be seeing half a dozen of their 14-16 year olds come and train with Newcastle United.
Apparently Sjoberg is already playing well against the 16 year olds.
Some of our young players may also go in the opposite direction, which will give them a different perspective to football with continental clubs focusing more on the technical skills.
Here’s the official website of Vasteras – it’s in Swedish, but we’ve posted it because says what we have explained above.
This sounds like a good move for the club.
