The Sunday Sun is reporting that Oba Martins is set to give Newcastle United a huge boost.
Oba Martins - our favorite shot of Oba - yes he just scored
The 23 year-old Nigerian striker had been ruled out until mid-November with the knee injury he picked up against Tottenham. And only last week Kinnear had said he would be out another 4 weeks, and probably be back for the game at Fulham on November 9th.
But Martins now wants to be involved against Sunderland on October 25th, and has been doing some jogging and light training late last week, apparently to the pleasant surprise of manager Kinnear.
While Oba may not make it back for the Sunderland game, it looks like he will be back before November 9th, and given Newcastle fortunes in the last few weeks, that’s got to be taken as good news for the club.
That’s especially true since since our perennially injured striker Mark Viduka could well be out for the season and Alan Smith is out at least until Christmas.
And it wouldn’t surprise us if both the above injured players have already played their last games for the club.
Comments welcome.

The Sunday Sun also reckons Ambani is still interested in us.
Also, has anyone seen this? It’s a good read.

I told them, ‘I want to see a 100% improvement on the first half, I don’t ever want to see any of that crap again’. (Kinnear referring to the Blackburn game)
HaHa, top class!!

Ryan Peacock
He was on the bench.
We are certainly missing Martins. He is a real handful with his pace and some of his touches are sublime.

Shearer9, Thanks for the Telegraph link, if what Joe says is true then it’s hard not to like the guy….
most fans I hope just want to here the truth and not some “spin” just to shut us up…… it looks like JK is going to tell it how it is, good or bad which is fine by me.

shearer9-cheers for that article. It seems almost impossible not to buy into joe kinnears enthusiasm and belief in the squad.
i’ve taken to him immediatly and his faith in the squads ability seems 100% genuine.
He’s gonna give them a serious kick up the arse next few weeks and its exactly what they need. Best of luck to him, we may have something to look forward to!?

Joe could become a legend if we beat the scum in a fortneets time. as each day goes by i like what he says, what he does , hecould be just what we are looking for . best of luck to you

So it’s either Owen and Xisco or Owen and Ameobi for the derby realistically. Well, if there’s any time for Xisco or Ameobi to shine then it’s against Sunderland. Howay Shola, remember Barcelona…
27 Ausgeordie // Oct 13, 2008 at 8:14
We’ve got players that no one wants to buy. Even with the size of the squad not one of us would have minded if smith went to everton but he is unlikely to now. Viduka……will never be offered a premiership contract by any club again and come back to Oz and play for a local team. Ameobi cant get a contract with a cola division team.
On a different note I want to see Joe give some youngsters a go. Whens Lua lua due back?

Think he’s back now.

shearer9 - yeah, I enjoyed that article too.
I’m one of those people who wasn’t too impressed with his x-rated rant, but I’m definitely warming to the bloke after reading that. Cheers.

shearer9 just read the article on Kinnear very good starting to warm to the guy. I still don’t think he’s the right man long term but is probably what we need now.
