JOE KINNEAR has revealed he has been touched by the welcome he has received from the Geordie nation and adds that he is working class and a fighter.

The initial response on Tyneside was certainly underwhelming for the former Wimbledon boss, and his Newcastle United arrival was followed by some negative reporting from some of the the national press - what’s new?
Kinnear was initially distraught by that welcome, but after immediately improving the fortunes of the club, the huge Newcastle support at Everton were heard chanting Kinnear’s name.
In what was an emotional interview this afternoon, that Joe gave to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle:
“I am really touched by the welcome I have had on Tyneside.” “The place has been in turmoil but it has been positive.” “But I know that it’s all down to the results.”
“That can only come from the players, and it is my job to keep the confidence as high as possible to do that.”
On Kinnear’s arrival to Newcastle he immediately pointed out he was not part of the Cockney Mafia, but his ten seasons at Tottenham from when he was just 17 years old, gave him a Cockney accent, although of course he was born in Dublin, Ireland.
But Joe is nothing if not a battler, and he has already shown those qualities in his short stint on Tyneside, and he has been able to rally the players to be much more energetic, urgent and organized on the field.
Joe continued:
“Basically I am a fighter and always have been.” “I grew up on a council estate with real people in the real world.” “So I do have the working-class mentality you need.”
“My father died when I was young and my mother raised our family in Dublin.” “I appreciate working-class life.”
Joe’s right that results are everything in football and we’ll get a chance top see how he does against a good Manchester City side next Monday evening.
It’s a long time since we got 3 points in a game.

JK merely states that he’s pleased with the welcome he’s been given, yet is quick to point out that its the result at Everton that has lifted the optomism, not his arrival.
Newcastle is a working class city, and he again just says he understands the mindset the football fans are in, because he was the same in his younger years.
If you ask me, its anything but moronic. Newcastle is a working class area, he’s a working class guy, and he’s going to drill his “fighter” mentality into the players at tough times. Go ahead Joe, your contribution to our cause is fully appreciated.

My friend, Newcastle USED to be a workng class city. Not many are doing any real work any more. Efette city types (go down the quayside any working day), civil service jobs worths and benefits spongers is more realistic.

Its not his battling that I have issue with. Battling involves lower skill players managing to compete with the higher skill international players. Class will always win over the season. Look at the Champions over the last dozen years. Class in depth (to cover accidents). The current regime has no depth and the players brought in are not as good in the Premiership as last year. There is no way we would have lost to Hull at home (with the rest we had) under any owner under any injury circumstances other than the current one (I haven’t forgot the Brum cup match but playing as many games with a depleted side that we did and still should have won away doesnt in my mind count). The owner is after a quick buck but the market fell underneath him and his quick buck tactics have now come to haunt him (and by extension us fans). Who can forget the numerous rumours of a sale over the close season. Sorry to disagree with the other well meaning fans but Kinnear is not the answer, he isnt even the beginning of an answer, he is in fact the end of any answer to keeping the owner.

Markus, perhaps Kinnear isn’t the answer but he is the only one who has stepped up at such a volatile time, you have to respect that. Right now, the mess we are in and the anxiety surrounding every aspect of the club, we need to take it one game at a time, and for that, I’ll back Kinnear as long as he is here instead of senselessly mourning a manager who walked out and left us in the shit.
