No Surgery For Viduka But When Will He Be Back?

There is some good news about Mark Viduka today that he does not need an operation on his Achilles, that would have seen him out for 6 months.

Mark Viduka – doesn’t need operation

Now Mark will return to Newcastle on Friday with some good news for Newcastle United, since the prognosis from a specialist over in Australia, was that he does not need an operation on his heel.

Apparently Mark is pain free and has been told he needs to strengthen the tendon and the Newcastle physio James Murphy, who accompanied Viduka on the trip, told an Australian newspaper:

“Surgery is not considered necessary.”

But still no comeback date has been named for Viduka, so we have no idea why he has been out so long with his Achilles.

Viduka hasn’t played for Newcastle since the Chelsea game at the end of last season, and of course throughout his career he has had many injury problems.

Surprisingly Viduka is still adamant he wants to represent Australia again as he told the press:

“Of course I want to play for Australia again – it’s something that’s never out of my mind,”

“But it’s a step-by-step process and the first stage is to get back playing for my club again. I don’t want to rush anything.”

“I’ve got to be 100% fit and 100% sure in my mind that my heel is strong enough.”

“When that happens I’ll be back for Australia. I’ve always loved playing for my country.”

It’s not a good time for Mark to talk about playing for Australia when he hasn’t even played for his club for 5 months through injury – but there again he would bound to be asked about it when he was over in Australia.

The long travel and extra games will certainly not help his Newcastle career, that’s for sure.  We’d love to see Mark make an early return to the team, becasue thewre’s no doubt he’s a good player when fit.

Comments welcome.

Idiot. He is still thinking of playing for his country when the club is paying his salary while he is out injured.

He said, he’ll play for his country when he’s fit & playing for his club, that’s us!

Toon_Ksk try reading the full quote, especially this bit:

“But it’s a step-by-step process and the first stage is to get back playing for my club again. I don’t want to rush anything.”

Anyhoo, imagine how awesome Viduka would be if he was fitter.. oh well.

Well the pronosis is better than last week, when there was talk of him being out for months.
But i guess if we’re gonna believe every utterance
from the press, then look at it under a microscope until we’re sick…

So he’s pain-free and doesn’t need an operation – ………….so his problem is?
We send him and a club physio to Oz in the summer because there’s not a decent achilles tendon expert within 12000 miles of SJP?

All I’ll say is it wouldn’t happen where I work.

We should offer him a new deal which is on a pay as you play basis.
