The Football Association warned Joe Kinnear yesterday that he will face disciplinary action if he swears in any future public outburst.
Joe Kinnear – warned as to future conduct
Joe Kinnear laid into the press on October 2nd and especially Simon Bird of the Daily Mirror, for some reporting that Joe deemed both unfair and untrue.
It’s interesting that Simon Bird reports on this news today but his piece is very straight, but of course includes the rant, in both versions.
The press conference was meant to be for the upcoming match with Everton but Joe came out with all guns blazing against some of the national press (not all by the way), who he thinks ridiculed him.
Joe is a proud man and has been out of the game for 4 years so was perhaps surprised at the level of negativity his appointment had brought from some in the press. But he made it clear he will not put up with some of the ruibbish that had been reported on him and Newcastle. We’ll just have to see if they take any heed to that in the future.
The FA statement issued yesterday said:
“The FA has received an apology from Kinnear for any offense that his comments may have caused.”
“While he will not face any formal disciplinary action on this occasion, he has been advised that in the event of similar public comments, disciplinary proceedings may be brought against him.”
We don’t condone what Joe said at all, but some of the things that are written by some of the people in the press are sometimes just too ridiculous for words – let’s be honest.
Joe will get used to it.
