Euro Heartache For Charles N’Zogbia

Charles N’Zogbia’s French Under-21 side were eliminated from next summer’s Under-21 European Championships when Germany scored a last minute goal.

Charles N’Zogbia – will not be going to Sweden next year

So unfortunately Charles will not be joining his Newcastle team-mates Steven Taylor (England) and Xisco (Spain) in Sweden next summer.

The first leg play-off with Germany has been drawn 1-1 in Magdeburg, and with no goals having been scored last night, France were on their way through because they had scored an away goal.  But then German defender Benedikt Höwedes scored in the 90th minute when he fired home from close range, and his goal was enough to take Germany through.

It looked like France would be the victors as they had been the better side on the night, at the Stade Saint-Symphorien in Metz, but they didn’t take their chances. And then Höwedes stepped up with his goal that was enough to take Germany through to the finals next June.

That’s a pity for Charles, because it would have been a great experience for the youngster – but that’s life – you win some you lose some.

Its always the same with the Germans and the Italians. You play your heart out against them for 90 minutes and then they sneak a winner in the 91st.

Still, look on the bright side; he will be fit and raring to go for next season having had a good break in the summer!!!

I’m an Aussie and after the way they knocked us out of the world cup with the 90th minute dive in the penalty area I will never be a fan of the Italian style of football
