Stuart Pearce must be almost the perfect manager to bring on England’s young players, and there’s no doubt he has done a great job managing the England Under-21 side.

Nobody ever doubted Stuart’s commitment to England, or his 100% effort in every game he played, and the former Newcastle player is also forming an integral partnership with England’s highly successful manager Fabio Capello.
And Steven Taylor, the England Under-21 captain, believes Stuart Pearce’s fear factor in the England Under-21 dressing room helps produce those positive results.
Pearce has a fantastic record for the England side, and his only defeat came in the finals of last year’s competition, when Holland won a dramatic penalty shoot-out 13-12 in Heerenveen.
Taylor told The Sun today:
“There is nothing better than having someone like Stuart Pearce in the dressing room,” “He has got an aura about him. The lads listen. He might frighten some people when he talks but he gets so much respect.”
“When Stuart Pearce is your manager and he shouts, it is amazing how many heads turn.” “He’s been there and done it. He knows what it is all about. We look up to him.”
Stuart is an inspirational leader, and don’t be surprised if England actually win the Euro Under-21 Championships in Sweden next summer. Taylor is almost the perfect captain for Pearce and Steven scored in each of the qualifying games against Wales this last week - a captain’s performance for sure.
We’ve certainly got one of our best teams in years, and winning the U21 Championships next summer would be a good start to the full England side winning the World Cup in South Africa one year later.
With the way both England teams are playing right now, that’s more possible than you may think.

Maybe Stuart Pearce should succed Fabio Capello when he leaves his post as head coach of England
After all they seem to share similar views and would be a smoother transition than most, almost like he is serving his apprentiship under him now
Wonder if we could get Stuart Pearce in as a coach a couple of days a week in the mean time

i know not a lot of people rate taylor and at the moment neither do i but i honestley believe that in a couple of years he will erradicate his mistakes and become a top player

Beye, you are right; A lot of people watch Taylor play and there are times he makes you cringe. He gets dragged out of position far to easily, he loses concentration, he takles like a woman at times.
Yet, despite all that, there is definately something about him. He seems to have moments when he is just suberb, they are just not frequent enough.
There is no doubt having Pearce on board as the U21 coach, should improve Taylor, if he listens and learns. The potential is there, it just needs to come out more consistantly at SJP!!!

If Taylor is Tottenham,Everton,or big4 team player. you’ll rate him. But he’s Newcastle player especially he’s local lads. I don’t know why some of us don’t rate him.

Just look how many goals he u-21 conceeded over 2 legs!
Ginkoh - Always why would we rate spurs plays?!?! The only Spurs players I clearly rate are Bale and Hutton and Woodgate and Bentley to an extent.

If I was a defender I’d love to have a mentor like Pierce. I reckon his game will improve a lot in the next few years being tutored by him.

Tozer and Carroll dont really looks any good and Zmbelra nevner plays for the reserves and barely the u-18’s, and he isn’t injured so he cant be that great.

bemused-i dunno if he scored first game, but the second was a header accross goal that hit sam vokes i think it was? and he managed to direct it into the goal. it has to go down as an OG, i’d be incredibly surprised if it was given to taylor!

For the Man City game I reckon it all depends on our defending. If the back four put a solid performance in I reckon we could hit the b**strds on the break. I got no doubts on Martins banging a few away as long as he gets the delivery.

He didn’t score in either game. The goal in the second game was clearly an own goal by Sam Vokes. Taylor was also at fault for Wales first goal in the first game - as was his Central defensive partner. This is the type of thing Taylor needs to somehow get out of his game if he’s going make the step up to the senior squad and be the leader we want him to be at Newcastle. He definately has the ability, but it seems to be indecision and taking the wrong option that lets him down. Hopefully that will come with more maturity.

Also, who cares about how many goals Taylor scores? Its how many goals he prevents thats the important factor!
He hasn’t lived upto his potential, he is an average to poor defender, he makes too many idiotic mistakes and they cost us far too often. Enrique at left back, Colo and Bassong at centre back, Beye at right back, Taylor on the bench.

Can I just say this? If Steven Taylor is so great why is it no club ever inquires about him, I wish they would? I’m sure he’d be a better journalist than a footballer, he is going to destroy our club. I just cant see how fans stick by him and say he’s going to be this and that. Every time I log onto an NUFC website its Taylor says this, Taylor says that. Shut up you divvy and concentrate on trying to become even an average Premiership player ! if you can !!

Heavy hitters - I have to say I agree with you - he believes he is far better than he actually is. I’m sure we all want him to succeed, but as you say he would be better served spending more time working to improve his game, than bulling himself up by talking to the press every five minutes.

Some on this forum would be happy to see him Captain, could you imagine the media coverage he could give himself, he’d have a field day. If he didnt drop his ususal costly errors I wouldnt have a problem with him. I wouldnt like him as a bloke and I would still get sick of his big mouth but I would say “the kid’s doing the business so good on him” but he isnt yet he still continues to talk as if he’s a Premiership big shot. He infuriates me so much !!!
