Nicky Butt has become an important player for Newcastle, after an indifferent start to his career on Tyneside.
Nicky Butt – Joe helping us move forward
And we expect it will be Nicky to lead out Newcastle for their important game against Manchester City on Monday night.
Nicky is very upbeat about things right now and he talked to the Evening Chronicle today:
“We know he’s going to be here for at least two or three months and it’s a way of moving forward.” “Although it’s not a perfect scenario, he’s come in for what’s going to be a difficult job for him and he’s done well so far.”
“You judge a man on his results and if we keep doing as well as we did in the second half against Everton we’ll be OK.” “To be fair to Chris Hughton, he did a good job and it was just unfortunate that we were getting results we didn’t deserve.”
Kinnear’s influence in the second half at Everton was clear to see, as the lads battled their way though the second half and were just a little unlucky not to get all 3 points, after looking dead and buried at 2-0 down and away from home.
“Joe’s come in now, and although it wasn’t a great performance against Everton, especially in the first half, we showed a bit of courage and came good in the second half.”
“It’s only early days, and we’ll see at the end of the time he’s here.” “At the minute Manchester City are on a high, and you can see all the things that are going to go for them in the future.”
We don’t think it’s too bad an idea if Joe continues to do well and gets the results that he be retained for the rest of the season. The alternative is to bring in yet another manager, with new ideas, which would be the third manager this season, and it may good for the short term to stick with Joe – but that scenario would only have weight if Joe does exceptionally well.
But we hope for just that – that Joe does just great.
