Dubai-based Zabeel Investments may not be interested in buying Newcastle United any longer, and they have turned their attention to Charlton and West Ham.
Dennis Wise – could be off to Charlton?
It is understood they have already bid £50M for Charlton, which included taking on their current debt of £20M.
But the news today that is being reported in The People says that Dennis Wise could be in line to become Director of Football at Charlton, should the deal go through.
They are reporting that Tony Jimenez is linked with Zabeel, and was even in talks with the Zabeel chairman Mohammed Al Hashimi yesterday. Tony would become Charlton’s chief executive if the Arab takeover is successful. We’re sure that news will not delight current manager Alan Pardew.
Jimenez recently left Newcastle United as a Vice President of Recruitment.
It seems hard to see Dennis Wise staying at the Newcastle club, as he is linked with Ashley and Llambias for taking the club down to their present uncertain state, after they presumably were doing player deals without the knowledge of manager Kevin Keegan, who finally resigned.
But we have no idea if there is any truth to this story, but we would still expect Wise to leave when new owners are installed, at the latest.
However, we hope we can still have a recruitment team in place with new personnel perhaps, as long as the new manager has the last word on all player recruitment.
Comments welcome.

Comment #6Despite undermining Keagan I still believe that the players our recruitment team bought in over the summer were top class, not enough but top class none the less. Who ever takes over they need to invest in top recruitment team. There is too much money in the league to just pay the best players you have to go out and find the next big thing.

Comment #9I don’t like Wise either but Wise and Jimenez only did what they were given leave to do by Ashley.
Somehow, Wise is seen as the architect of our predicament and Ashley as some sort of innocent party.
That’s crap.
He hired them. They do the jobs he gives them. Same with Llambias.
He can fire them any time . He chose them over Keegan. He chose boardroom mandarins over the club manager. He chose not to invest any money in the squad.
Ashley Out!

Comment #10Wise would make a good manager for us at Charlton, he did a good job at Millwall, and Leeds, why he took the role at Newcastle I’ll never know. He should stick to what he know’s best. I’d sooner keep Pardew tho.
Go on big Joe Kinnear, he’s gonna do a great job for you lot.
You will forget Keegan once this guys been there for a while.
I can’t believe Ashley makes out he’s a Newcastle fan, as he is known to be Spurs fan.

Comment #12Guess thats a chapter we can close the book on and get back to square one.
Happy to see them all go , including MA & KK, the whole shebang, it was a period of mass confusion starting from the owner down and not helped to any degree by certain fans.
Any owner coming in would be advised to employ a new PR dept. plus a revamping of the official web sight would do no harm, as its important to communicate with the fan base , if he does`nt want a replay of recent events.

Comment #14Nick is right – it seems that Zabeel are now taking a look at Everton.
There are moments of realisation in your life when you suddenly figure out either how good or how bad life is.
It might be the birth of a child or the death of a relative.
It was a defining moment for me last night when I read articles telling us that Ameobi is supposed to be our number one choice as striker.
Can it really be this bad?
Surely it would be better if we just stuck Zoggy up there, or even Smith?
Dont we have a 12 year old somewhere with a turn of pace and a Pokemon back-pack?
Surely not “Two Touch” Ameobi?
It cant possibly be that bad!

Comment #15Reports of Zabeel now looking at Everton journalistic rubbish, Charlton and Zabeel are now in the due dilligence stage and the deal will go through shortly, during this period the companies cannot say a thing, hence the lack of info on the takeover.
I am a Charlton supporter with a soft spot for Newcastle, and I hate what has happened under Ashley but please don’t let us have Dennis Wise!
Hope things get sorted for you lot and we see the Toon playing the type of football we expect.

Comment #17Apart from the players recruited so far, just suppose that wise was instrumental in landing nile ranger and aaron spear, and they both turn out to be internationals – or we sign the 16 year old centre half from olympiakos who manu are also after – maybe then people will realise that wise has actually done what he was paid to do – and very well indeed? Is there actually anything at all on record that indicates him falling out with keegan? I would imagine that major bust up was with llambias, certainly looking at his attitude and smirk at the last home game. The true facts concerning wise will come out eventually, but persoanlly I don’t think he has had a fair trial by the fans.

Comment #18Zabell will announce a 50mil takeover of Charlton has gone through this Friday before the Home game with Burnley .They are expected to give Pardew another 50m for players so they are promoted this season. Wise will NOT be part of the deal as he is determined to remain at Newcastle .
