Don’t Hold Your Breath On Beye Red Card Reversal

Newcastle’s unlucky Senegalese defender Habib Beye will learn on Thursday if his red card he received in the Man City game is to be overturned by the FA.

Habib Beye – will red card be overturned?

That was the news coming out of the FA today, but we won’t hold our breath because it’s fairly rare that these decisions get overturned. However, if it is indeed overturned it will be another black mark against referee Rob Styles, who has already been involved in enough controversy this season, with the dubious penalties he has given.

It will basically say the referee cost us the game against Man City, a side who turned out on the night to be rather mediocre, despite their high priced players.  The Football Association’s regulatory commission will now meet on Thursday to consider Newcastle’s official appeal against Habib’s dismissal. Not surprisingly Beye is very anxious to play at Sunderland on Saturday.

The action by the referee cost Newcastle probably 2 points, although the fantastic fighting performance from our 10 men almost had them take all 3 points, but Manchester City finally equalized after 86 minutes.   And manager Mark Hughes after the game said Man City had no luck?

As we have mentioned before we think Joe Kinnear will probably need to do even better than this, while the offers for the club are being vetted by Keith Harris of Seymour Pierce Bank. That’s if Joe he is to stake a strong claim to stay longer on Tyneside, but he’s certainly got the lads playing with enormous spirit and not a little skill and organization in the short 25 days he’s been Newcastle manager.

Wins will take us well clear of the relegation zone, where we are at the moment, although a full 4 points above the woeful Spurs side of high class and expensive players.

But at this point we don’t who the new owners will be, and don’t know who the new manager will turn out to be – but apart from that the fans are well informed.   😀

He fully deserves to get rid of a suspencion. I think the hardest punishment he could get was a red cart and a penalty. Styles is the worst ref I’ve ever seen (and my opinion is not only based on games with my favorite team).

His position told that he could NEVER see what exactly happenned. How a game can be manipulated by a person who doesn’t touch a ball at all? Pathetic!!!

Oh, and Robinho should be punished for his sportive behaviour. Why do Brazilians always get away with those situations? I really hate them!

If he doesnt get the card reversed then it’s a complete joke. It does seem like only London teams get cards reversed these days though, so im not counting on fairness to come into it at all.

It’s a shame that Beye is good enough to try and to successfully make those types of tackles.

Hes being punished for an exceptional tackle on Robinho, simply doing his job well means getting sent off. What a load of B*llcks.

Oh and i doubt the red card will get recinded. As mentioned before, recinding it means admitting Styles made a mistake which will mean that he cost us the game, which means the FA may have to do something about him as he has had too many mistakes in his career. So it will be easier to say oo he went through Robinho (who is a cheating peice of sh*t for holding his ankle).

Shame we not Chelsea….for example Terry red card got recinded, whereas Cahills for Everton the other week didnt.

Looks like Beye’s fine tackle will be recognised for what it really was then…………………………..

Newcastle United are likely to succeed in having Habib Beye cleared for Saturday’s north-east derby against Sunderland, with the referee Rob Styles expected to admit that he got a tight call wrong after examining replays of Beye’s challenge on the Manchester City striker Robinho in Monday’s 2-2 draw.

A further indication that Styles is perceived to have got a second high-profile penalty award in three weeks wrong came in the decision not to let him referee a Premier League game this weekend. Instead he will be fourth official at Stamford Bridge on Sunday for Chelsea’s match with Liverpool, before returning to the middle in a Championship game between Bristol City and Sheffield United next Tuesday.

I hope the decision will be reversed but if only it works in the same way with the point system as well. What I meant was if it is reversed, then Man City first goal should not be counted and we should be given another 2 points instead.

Did anyone see Dermott Gallagher on SSN last night ?

He look at the decission Styles made and said that he thinks it is highly likely that the red card WILL be recinded.

He said that his position was poor due to the pace of the game and he believes we have a strong case. The player (Beye) got the ball and he considered the contact with Robinho to be part and parcel of the physical contact side of the game.

    Ho’way the Beye !!!! 😀

    17 Born Again Geordie

Food for thought but I wonder whether the red was the spur for the spirit the remaining ten showed?

Let’s hope we can have Beye’s card recinded and JK can re-generate a spirited performance at Sunderland. You can bet your boots that Keane’ll have ’em fired up and it looks to be a game and a half.

Promises to be a good one and as we appear to be a bit thin on the striker front, wonder if it’s worth JK having the Lone Ranger on the bench and blooding him for 10 mins or so in that one?

Likewise coming from the bench (probably safer there as he’s not exposed to provocation at Sunderland) it may also be an opportunity for Joey B to show what he’s really made of.

Fingers crossed for a humdinger of a match and trust it’s played in the right spirit.

    I’ll go fo 2-3!

personally I think the pen & sending off geed (?) us up. We played better with 10 men than 11 so to say the sending off cost us the game is stretching it a bit.

I don’t think Robinho dived either (& actually did well to stay on his feet following that ‘tackle’ from Collicinni) But yes the card should be overturned

By the way is the Zog injured ?

If the FA back Styles’s decision then in my opinion they will lose all credibility. They have got to stand by the actual facts and not the opinion of one of the most dodgy refs in the Premier.

I agree with Ranger getting a spot on the bench!

Imagine the spirt we had on Monday with 11 men against the mackems. My mouth is watering already, this could be the game to kick start our push up the table.

Incidently there is an interesting article on The Times web site chatting to JK, Shay etc. worth a read. I have tried to post the link on here but it is not letting me for some reason.

    I will go for Scum 1 – Toon 3 (martins, jonas & a n other) Fingers crossed 🙂

Born Again….. 1 -3 with one for Jonas eh?

Could be a good time to buy a job-lot of Spider Man masks and make a fortune from ’em.

The Mackems are pretty good in the last 10 minute goals dept and depsite that, I still fancy 2-3, with it being 1-1 at half time, then 2-1, 2-2 then 2-3!!

Whatever, here’s hoping for a cracker of a game and a slow climb up the table for the Toon.

    • Good win for the youngsters which will keep their confidence up. I hope we keep this youth set up going as I feel we could use some of these youngsters in cameo appearances throughout the season. Like Ars, too much players that are bought in only stifles the development of our youth system, that like it or not owes a great deal to MA and DW!

Surely if the F.A overturn Beyes red card they are sayin it shouldnt have been a penalty therefore they should be deducted the goal as it was disallowed?making another decision to give us 2 points or maybe a compromise with 1 extra point?why not? they consider it for other teams-sheff utd/west ham saga etc-and Leeds were deducted 15 points were they not?this proves the F.A have the power and authority to do it-or are man city exempt from a deduction for some strange reason? i think it should apply-only if the F.A rule overturn the decision mind u-after all-no foul= no pen=no goal , and a change of scoreline!-its no use saying its too late because the match is over because thats hypocrytical to them changing anything then?i think the club should ask for a point deduction for man city and give us the win or at least the extra point in compensation!! Fwd this to the club someone! Ed!!
